“Kind Of Foreign In The NFL”
June 15th, 2012The human armoire, Carl Nicks, the Bucs’ new manbeast All-Pro left guard, was darn happy the first mandatory minicamp of the New Schiano Order ended yesterday.
Nicks shared his pleasure — and fatigue — with multimedia czar J.P. Peterson, host of Happy Hour with J.P. on 1010 AM yesterday.
Nicks was asked to compare Greg Schiano and his former head coach, NFL pariah Sean Payton. This question flummoxed Nicks a bit and he explained that Payton is “meticulous” like Schiano but what he’s seen of the on-field world of Schiano “is kind of foreign in the NFL.” Peyton is a more traditional NFL coach, Nicks said, in terms of how practice is run.
“But it will help us,” Nicks said of Schiano’s drills and order.
Interestingly, Nicks said he believes the Bucs offense can be “one of the best in the NFL.” He also went out of his way to mention Mike Williams and Vincent Jackson, and Nicks said he’s long been aware of LeGarrette Blount’s talent, and he said Doug Martin is a do-it-all back who is a “faster version of Pierre Thomas.”
Joe was pleased to hear that scouting report from Nicks, who last week — before minicamp — said he doesn’t pay much attention to rookies.
Joe’ not going to get greedy. If Martin can give the Bucs what Thomas has given the Saints when he’s healthy, then that would be a fabulous complement to Blount.

“Human Armoire” great nickname for Nicks…..the players he mentioned need to stand up come regular season.

There is no denyin that Doug Martin is special. I knew it when the Giants were loaded and ready to take him with their number 1 pick. I jus about jumped out my chair when I saw the Bucs snag him! Very underrated move.

Agree with Architek,
Muscle Hamster is going to be a great player.
I am very happy we didn’t just sit back and “take what falls to us”.
This pick was well worth it, as was the trade up for LaVonte David.
Two awesome picks.

If Martin is a faster version of Pierre Thomas, we are all in a for an extremely sweet treat! i always wished Pierre Thomas was on our team.

Let’s all hope that Doug Martin will turn out to be MUCH better than Pierre Thomas has ever been… Would be a bust otherwise.

This is why i like schiano as head coach. Sure most teams don’t need what he offers, but after what happened last season, he is exactly what the young bucs NEED. You know that even if the bucs lose, the culture change makes you appreciate that they are doing all they can.

We’ve got the Blount Instrument and the Muscle Hamster running behind the Human Armiore, I love it!

“Foreign in the NFl”
uh oh.

Pierre Thomas has looked good against our atrocious defense but he’s nothing special and certainly not worth a first round pick. If Hamster proves to be Pierre Thomas this goes down as another high draft choice that Marcell Dominick has wasted. I’m pulling for him and hope that we landed a Ray Rice/ Matt Forte/ MJD like back, however running for Boise against all scrubs in college is much different than the NFL. I’m cautiously holding my breath due to the recent draft failures of our beloved GM.

We have “The Human Armoire” and “The Muscle Hamster” on the Bucs this year.
We might not get to the Super Bowl with this team, but we got a damn fine WWE Tag Team.

@ FreemanBomb5,
You mentioned: Ray Rice, Matt Forte, and MJD as hopeful impacts you wish fro Muscle Hamster.
However, you hate on the Boise St. status of Doug Martin.
Why? If anything, his Boise St. status is reassuring, as the 3 forementioned Running Backs are all from non-powerhouses:
Ray Rice: Rutgers
Matt Forte: Tulane
MJD: UCLA
Also, Jerry Rice was a division 2 player, and so was Robinson Cano.

Schiano has saved the best for last. If “Stevie” Nicks thinks that Schiano is very foreign now, wait till he starts cussing him out in Italian:)

Robinson Cano played division II football?
Never knew that :-\
