Schiano Singles Out Parker, Orlovsky

The leader of the New Schiano Order plays things close to the vest, but today after the first practice of mandatory minicamp, Greg Schiano went out of his way to praise Preston Parker and backup QB Dan Orlovsky.
Josh Freeman had good things today about Parker’s development, and Schiano piled on a few minutes later.
“I think he’s improving quite a bit, both as a returner and as a wide receiver,” Schiano said. “Not that he wasn’t productive before, because he was. But I see him doing things that are really going to be helpful. That’s why I said the competition at wideout is excellent. The cream will rise to the top, but it’s a good group, as we get more reps and reps, Josh is going to be more comfortable with it. I’d be remiss if I didn’t say Dan Orlovsky is doing a really good job. In his role, when he gets his chances, he’s really performing well.”
Minus his fumbling issues as a returner, on top of being a rather average return guy, Parker was a solid threat last season with 40 catches, plenty on third down. His emergence can only help drive the rest of the receiving corps.
Interestingly during a practice exchange today, Sammie Stroughter aggressively caught and returned a punt and drew praise from Schiano, “Way to work Sammie. Way to work.” On the next repetition, Parker caught his ball and quickly drew the ire of Schiano and P.J. Fleck. “Chin. Chin. Chin,” they screamed. Chin’s is the camp code word for ball security, holding the ball tight and under the chin.

I am glad Orlovsky is doing good, Tampa may need him, if Josh goes down, or fails to perform.
I recall reading an article where the O Line had to help Josh with the blocking assignments recently, and that kind of scared me.
I know it is early, and Tampa has a brand new system in place. But the starting QB must know where everyone is supposed to be on the field, at any time.
One has to wonder if all the interceptions Josh threw last year were a result of Josh not knowing his receivers routes/reads ?
I remember him openly yelling at some of his receivers last year, but also remember a few yelling back.

And in a later article we see the same old Freeman. Picks and all. Damn Winslow still causing him to throw picks. OH wait. He’s gone. Coach saw all this in the beginning and is why he said he wanted compitition at ALL positions.

It really upsets me that they’re so many negative people that call themselves fans. How can you just dis Freeman just 2 years ago he only threw 6 picks all that season. We should be encouraging him to get back to that fans, friends, family, players, and coaches to. But if your still on the Winslow wagon that sailed out of here or the Raheem tugboat that departed then gtf off the battleship we don’t need your negativity when the cannons sound off so stfu. Let us be enthusiastic about our bucs. I like the new pieces they added and how the culture is changing. Now can we enjoy our off-season in piece and hope our bucs succeed instead of just waiting on the team ta fail.

Too true jammal its only ota im not too worried about free throwin picks in otas while hes learning a new playbook and why not look for the good in it maybe the d just made a good play. i for one am pumped 2 hear that our rooke lb david is already making plays

What’s the word on Dezmon Briscoe? Is he the odd man out? We haven’t heard anything from him since his absence…Does it look he will remain a Buc? Is it doing well?
Please provide us with an update on the status of Dezmon Briscoe.
