Myron Lewis’ Last Chance
May 30th, 2012Most Bucs fans, and Joe is sure quite a few players, are still reeling from the grotesque 10-game losing streak that closed the season last year.
Just the thought of it makes Joe want to eat a mouthful of Tums.
One reason for the hideous slide that cost Raheem Morris his job was that the secondary was roasted better than a rack of ribs on a grill last weekend.
A player the Bucs had high hopes for, Myron Lewis, was thought to have fought for significant playing time last year, but that didn’t happen. This has not been lost on ESPN’s Pat Yasinskas, as he typed about Lewis in a recent ESPN NFC South chat.

Pat what ever happened with the development of Myron Lewis.Wasn’t he a stud at Vandy???
Pat Yasinskas
Apparently, not much has happened with his development.
Well, part of the reason that Lewis hasn’t developed is he cannot stay on the field due to a myriad of injuries. How exactly is a player supposed to improve if he cannot practice much less log crucial playing time?
When Lewis does play, he often gets torched. He is still green.
Like sackless Kyle Moore last year, Joe’s of the opinion this is a do-or-die year for Lewis in a Bucs uniform. If he gets hurt (again) in preseason, he may just as well start looking for another team.

He’s a bust.

I think the kid can make the team. For two reasons:
1) He never had an injury at in high school or at Vandy playing against SEC competition. Much like GMC he’s been snakebitten by injury. By all accounts, he’s a hard worker and a smart guy. Hopefully for his sake that’ll show this year.
2) He’s got the physical tools to play every position in the secondary making him more valuable than guys like Devin Holland or even Larry Asante as the 52nd/53rd guy on the roster.

Sorry, but even when he isn’t injured he’s just terrible. I have no doubts they’ll give him one more year to try and turn it around with the new coaching staff, but he’s just been flat out consistently bad and I don’t expect him to be around by next year.
I think he’s a classic bust, but he’ll get one more chance to prove otherwise.

Barber was a few years in when he figured it out… That said Myron has to get in there and prove himself this year!

Really need this kid to mature and stay healthy because the “Rockstars” draft picks haven’t exactly made a name for themselves yet. We can not afford so many busts if we expect to rebuild this franchise.

Lewis showed some great signs late in his rookie season. Ronde Barber had some struggles his 1st few seasons as did Brian Kelly. He is built as a press corner as he had the longest arms at the combine that year.
I am pulling for him.

Lewis is a pre-madonna who hasn’t done anything. He complained on twitter last year while on the team bus to a preseason game in Washington D.C. by saying “This is the worst police escort i’ve ever had” <—- so, i guess the police escorting the team bus from the hotel to the stadium was unacceptable to him (smh)

So Lewis is before Madonna? Huh?

That’s textbook coverage if I have ever seen it.

is Kyle Moore even in the league ???
