Bucs Fans Finally Got Their Cornerback
April 28th, 2012Is Keith Tandy the cornerback the Bucs need, which the team selected in the sixth round? Maybe, maybe not. Watch this video to judge for yourself.

April 28th, 2012 at 4:07 pm
Are you serious?
April 28th, 2012 at 4:08 pm
could be converted to a safety im hearing
April 28th, 2012 at 4:08 pm
Or maybe a transition to safety?
April 28th, 2012 at 4:08 pm
it is the 6 th rd of the 2012 nfl draft
April 28th, 2012 at 4:10 pm
There must not be any Rutgers guys who are eligible. So now they’re just gonna pick up Big Least guys who made Rutgers look silly. Quality scouting decision.
April 28th, 2012 at 4:10 pm
CB/S that is tough and will immediately help on Special Teams.
April 28th, 2012 at 4:13 pm
Just like the first 4 picks, he seems to be a guy that will go out and compete. Make Myron and E.J. nervous a little bit.
April 28th, 2012 at 4:13 pm
I will say this; I like this pick a helluva lot more than the Goode pick.
April 28th, 2012 at 4:14 pm
DSZ Get outta here with that BS. We already have had a solid draft and he was a 6th rounder. Who did you expect? Morris Claiborne? Sheeze…
April 28th, 2012 at 4:14 pm
Hey look! A new guy with a strong opinion rooted in nothing but conference biases.
April 28th, 2012 at 4:16 pm
I think Ron Cooper can work with this…
April 28th, 2012 at 4:16 pm
lol ^
April 28th, 2012 at 4:20 pm
Schiano knows a lot about these 2 players considering they are both from the Big East. He would know more about these guys than anyone else.
Oh yeah agree Clayburn. WTF are you talking about DSZ? This is a 6th round pick not a 2nd or 3rd.
April 28th, 2012 at 4:21 pm
Cool…Goode and Tandy were roomates at WV
April 28th, 2012 at 4:22 pm
So i have been totally against Vontaze Burfict.
But what are you guys thoughts on using the last 2 picks of the draft for taking a flyers chances on Alfonzo Dennard and Vontaze Burfict?
7th round is a crap shoot anyways and character issues aside. Both of these guys have high round talent, they both just crapped it away.
Given most 7th rounders don’t really make it to the final roster cut. Why not take a shot on trying to turn these guys around?
Both have to be going through a humbling experience by not even being considered to be draft material anymore. Could make them hungry enough to change and prove everyone wrong.
Plus i believe are coaching staff has a strong enough mentality to straighten on these guys!
April 28th, 2012 at 4:23 pm
Our RB from WAC must be awful too. Not even a BCS conference!
April 28th, 2012 at 4:24 pm
Dennard yes, Burfict hell no.
Dennard is freefalling because he picked the absolute worst time to punch a cop: Last weekend.
As Mike Mayock said about Burfict, “undraftable.” Think Willie Williams.
April 28th, 2012 at 4:25 pm
Could be potentially HIGH reward/ low risk being the final round of the draft.
Well if you take into account we got 3 immediate starters from this draft. Which pretty much gives it a good grade as is.

Yeah, can’t trust a running back from a non-BCS conference school.

@buc says. you always have room for one problem player late in the draft if the talent is there. However remember Grimm came out of the 7th rd. and was one of the best tacklers on the team.
April 28th, 2012 at 4:27 pm
I know Joe, It’s something i have been preaching about against him. But being we have seemed to fill most of our immediate needs.
We have the luxury to take a shot on a wild card in this draft especially with the last pick we have.
I know he has been garbage since this last season. But the 3 years prior to that. He was highly considered one of the best LBers in college.
He has the talent in him some where to be phenomenal. It just needs to be untapped.
But i surely wouldn’t even think twice about not having him on this team. Just thought as a shot in the dark it might be worth a look.
April 28th, 2012 at 4:28 pm
I like the Goode pick, he’s intelligent and a thumper, don’t know to much about Tandy but from the film, they both look good.

RE: Kieth Tandy- CBSSports Draft Prospects
Tandy’s size and physicality hides the fact he is one of the more successful passers in Kentucky high school history (8,609 career passing yards, 90 touchdowns). WVU coaches saw his four interceptions as a senior, however, and thought his best chance to make an impact would be on the defensive side of the ball–a seemingly wise move after his play the past couple of seasons. He learned the cornerback position while redshirting, then played six games (making six tackles) and earned a start in the team’s bowl game in 2008. Tandy’s game improved as a full-time starter in 2009, when he made 61 tackles, four for loss, intercepted four passes and broke up seven others. Big East coaches thought enough of his excellent junior season (57 tackles, two TFL, six INT, 11 PBU) to vote him first-team all-conference in 2010. If Tandy continues his growth as a defender in 2011, NFL scouts will overlook his average height and speed to consider selecting him in the top half of the draft. His strong build, tenacity, and willingness to go to the ball (resulting in several interceptions, 10 over the last two years with several resulting from tipped passes) give him a chance to start, or at least be a reliable nickel corner, at the next level.

If the Bucs were going to take a chance on Dennard or Burfict in the 7th, I’d much rather it be Dennard. Dennard is a 2nd-3rd round talent that made a very stupid decision. Burfict is a late round talent that made a bunch of very stupid decisions. The only reason he was ever mocked to be a 1st round pick is because some people watched some ESPN highlights and assumed he was great.
I think we will take a WR and/or TE in the 7th though. Could use some more competition at both of those positions, especially TE. We also haven’t drafted an offensive player since Martin.

@ charlieB: It must be a BCS school or it does not count.

April 28th, 2012 at 4:32 pm
Well we have 2 picks in the 7th.
Hope we take a wild shot on Dennard personally. I feel his thing was an isolated incident. I haven’t heard anything else of him having a track record.
Just a really dumb move at the worst possible time. But perfect timing for the Bucs to get him with a very low risk draft pick.
If Dennard kept his nose clean, he would push the starters for a chance to start outside.
Guess we will see what we get soon enough!
April 28th, 2012 at 4:35 pm
Burfect’s issues are on field, not off, he’s just immature and needs structure and discipline, it’s not like he’s out punching cops or shooting up strip clubs. I would take a flier on him, worst case, you cut him.
April 28th, 2012 at 4:36 pm
Here we go again. Everyone is going to complain about the late round picks, as if we are going to get some stud that everyone knows. It’s the late rounds people, you aren’t going to get anyone that really excites you, otherwise they would have been picked already!!!!!! I wonder how some people are able to function in life.
April 28th, 2012 at 4:36 pm
Keep dreaming or give it up. These types of characters are no longer welcome in Tampa under Schiano. If a kid wasn’t a captain, he’s not gunna be on this team.
April 28th, 2012 at 4:36 pm
@flmike
That was my thoughts and exactly why i think a coach like Schiano can tame the beast and direct that anger into the right moves making him dangerous as a lber (in a good way)
April 28th, 2012 at 4:37 pm
flmike, he failed his drug test at the combine. You have to be a bigger moron than Tanard Jackson to pull of a stunt like that!!! Come on brother!
April 28th, 2012 at 4:39 pm
I think the Bucs go OT in the 7th. David Gonzales, Andrew Datko or Levy Adcock. Then again, Schiano’s FB, Joe Martinek is still out there.
April 28th, 2012 at 4:40 pm
Personally, the whole drafting captains thing is stupid. I’ve heard about that the past 2-3 drafts and how many great football players did we draft? I want great/good football players. If someone is both, fine. But I really hope we aren’t drafting inferior players solely because one was a team captain and one wasn’t. As of now, I have 0 problems with this draft though.
April 28th, 2012 at 4:41 pm
@Hawaiian Buc
No sir, i was just making conversation while awaiting our next pick. Just flying idea’s around.
Honestly i wouldn’t mind Looking at Audie Cole ILB N.C. State and a TE (tho i don’t see anything special at that position) or possibly James Brown G – Troy( could be kicked out to work at RT or provide good depth on the O-Line.
April 28th, 2012 at 4:41 pm
I understand, so did someone else the Bucs drafted in the first round a few years back, now he’s headed to the HOF. First Dennis Erickson is a horrible disciplinarian, I’m shocked his players aren’t in more off field trouble, but it’s ASU and it is the #1 party school in the nation. The talent is there, someone is going to take a chance on him in either the draft or as an undrafted FA, I really think he’s looking for the type of discipline that Schiano will provide.

@ joe “Bucs finally get there Free Safety”
April 28th, 2012 at 4:46 pm

April 28th, 2012 at 5:39 pm
I can’t believe the bucs took another running back! Their grade just went from an A to a C-……….signed, another wack job fan
April 28th, 2012 at 6:08 pm
Burfict will be too busy partying on Haynesworth’s yacht if he comes to Tampa…..
