Bucs Steal Lavonte David!

Eddie Van Halen is humbled. The rock star comes through again!
Joe is simply geeked about this. Joe is a Big Ten honk and watches Big Ten games religiously on The Big Ten Network. Joe first noticed David as the dude was a ballhawk, flying to the ball from sideline to sideline. Joe wrote about his desire for David back in December.
This is a freaking dynamite pick! For reasons unknown, David and other linebackers slipped and slipped and slipped until Dominik couldn’t wait any longer and pulled the trigger with the Texans in order to get David.
This is the third time in this draft, third time in two days, Dominik has traded up or down to get the man he wanted.
The cool thing about David, in addition to his talents, is that he was coached up by one of the better defensive coaches in the land, Bo Pelini.

Been calling for this kid for over a mnth… ill say it first Mark D. is the best G.M. in in my lifetime as a Buc fan guy wins the draft… can’t predict injury can’t predict longterm success for players but from film eval. Dude drafts the right guys on paper I mean excellent first 3 rounds this year and last

Wow, what a draft so far. Landing David, on top of Barron and Martin. Can’t do any better than that. A+. I figured we had no shot at him coming in to day 2!!

As far as I am concerned, we got 3 starters in this draft. Anything else from here on out is icing, a scoop of ice cream, hot fudge, and a cherry on top of the cake I would be dreaming of eating off of Rachel Watson.

Love it, love it, love it! A lot of u were down on Dom after the Barron pick and calling for his head. Look now. He worked magic with the #4 pick that we didn’t even have when the draft started. A+ IMHO.

Bucs traded Morris Claiborne for Mark Barron, 5 spots at the end of the first, 10 spots at the end of the second, and a 7th. Not bad.

domink is hands down the best gm in bucs history. he obviously gets great talent with the picks he gets. the only way he goes down is if all his drafted players have injury problems. the bucs are playoff contenders if and only if the dline stays healthy this year and hopefully aqib talib plays this season. time for price, bennet, bowers, and mccoy to step up. At least an 11-5 record for first time nfl head coach. the sky is limit now..

Mel Kiper had David as his #25 player in the draft. Whenever you get the guy you want at the price your willing to pay, its a good pick. All 3 picks are studs and fill SERIOUS NEEDS!!!

@ Kenny – it’s a steal for the organization b/c we used a draft pick we originally didn’t have to be in a place we weren’t suppose to be to fill a HUGE hole in our D!

They used the pick they obtained by trading back to 7, to move up into the 2nd to get David.
They started with a early 1, 2 and 3 but no 4.
They ended up with an early 1, late 1 and late 2 but no 4.

This is the best draft we have had since Brooks and Sapp point blank period!!! I was so excited when I saw TB pop up on the screen saying we traded up. I had a gut feeling we would and this is the guy I wanted. 3 great starters and who cares about the 4th round pick. We got Barron, Martin, and now David with that 4th round pick. I say it went above and beyond a typical 4th rounder!!!
Lavonte David is my favorite LB in this draft behind Hightower and had him ranked right with Upshaw. He does a lot more than Upshaw can do. He can pressure the QB, find and drill the RB/TE/WR, and drops back in coverage as well as any LB in the draft. I would love to get Shawn Spence in the 5th or 6th as well as Ronnie Hillman. Could be one of the best drafts ever on paper! Keywords are “on paper”. But there is no way you can hate on this draft. If you do then you are no real Buc fan! Thats for sure!!!

WOW! I agree w/ IndoBUC . So many of you were calling for Dom’s head Just 24 hrs. ago! I believe this has been a GREAT draft so far, on paper. Lets enjoy how they grow together for a year! Before we start hoisting another Lombarti Trophy up the with the mainsail. We still need a CB and another RB plus FB Martinek (AKA the new Earnest Graham W/ SPEED). I really hope GMC, PRICE and GRIMM can play the whole year. AGAIN DRAFT GREAT IMPACT PLAYERS !!!! WE JUST STILL NEED MORE!!!

Martin and David are both ” A” picks. Stoked to have both of them!
I’ve been saying Lavonte David as our 2nd round pick for months. Neve figured we’d land both him and Martin. Those are both guys that will have an immediate impact on this team. Barron is a very good Safety- all three will help improve the team!
