“I Think Tampa’s Going To Be A Good Football Team”
April 27th, 2012Respected NFL Network draft guru Mike Mayock seemingly can’t contain his enthusiasm for the Bucs’ bounty in the first round of the draft last night.
Click here to see the video from NFL.com. “I think Tampa’s going to be a good football team!” Mayock shouts.
Joe’s going to roll with that thought right now. It feels great.
Joe thinks the Bucs will be pretty good, too. But so should be Carolina — Luke Kuechly alongside Jon Beason? Ugh. — Atlanta and New Orleans.

We should trade up again..get lavonte David and then find a Veteran LB
….we’ll be OK

I love the LB from Cal

Why did Carolina waste their pick. I thought Connor was pretty good, but they let him walk.

Sweet, we won the draft again

Here what Mayock said Joe, HIGHTOWER not Luke HIGHTOWER as an impact player.
Just reiterates my point before the draft.
I gave us a “B” grade in the first round. According to the draft chart we should of received at least a 3rd rounder.
From the begining I was not high on Mo or T Rich. So I was happy we did not overspend to get them.
Barron just might be the best safety since Rodney Harrison and Martin looks like a keeper too.
Both hard worker, high character guys that love football.
I and Tampa would have loved Hightower.

As much as we need a bone crushing safety, and I am a fan of the Barron pick. I just have a feeling that Kuechly will be reminding the Bucs why they should have taken him twice a year for a long time. I hope I am wrong and the dude is a total bust, I also hope barron is Lynch 2.0.

Jason Cole from Yahoo Sports on the Bobby Fenton Show said that Barron will not be able to cover TE like Graham. He’s a in the box type safety. In a passing league and a passing division, the Bucs scored a run stopper who will not play on 3rd downs. Genius.
He also went on to say you never draft a safety over a CB, never, especially an elite “best in the draft” CB like Claiborne. Fenton was trying to cover for Dominik but Cole basically gave the Bucs a F- grade on their first pick.
Joe wrote an article that stated Dominik cannot screw up this pick, well he found a way. Dominik got punked by the Vikings, Browns, Jaguars, Rams, and the Cowboys. But we did get a much needed 4th round selection.
Cole did like the 2nd 1st round move for Doug Martin.

Now if Barron is the next Lynch, I won’t be upset even if Kuechly turns out to be an Urlacher.

Miguel:
Greg Cosell, who studies film for a living for NFL Films, said that BS per Twitter.
“Barron played a lot of man coverage at Alabama. Don’t know where idea he’s just box safety came from. Multi-dimensional safety. Worth it.”

Jason Cole is one of the most ignorant journalists out there.. Worse than Pat Yankis.

Jason Cole working for Yahoo Sports is quite fitting.
That guy is a Yahoo.

Jason Cole. J.P. Peterson. And the difference is ???????

luke will be the next Dan Morgan…He will quickly learn he is not playing in the ACC.
His body will break down very quickly just like Morgans did

The problem with the pick is that no one on this forum over the last two months could credibly even mention Mark Barron’s name. I personally studied every elite player even though my preference was Kalil. I looked at TR and agreed he was very good, not a bad pick. Mo Claiborne was definitely a great pick at #5. I could justify Blackmon but thought we should pass. I heard Kuechly’s name quite often and agreed he was a stud.
Joe wrote little teaser articles about all of these players with a lot of eloquent arguments pro and con about each. No one would have had the audacity to mention passing up on any of the elite players for a safety. Dominik got punked.
Dominik got caught in another lie this morning when he stated that Doug Martin was the MVP at Boise State. I believe they had another player named Kellen Moore who was the NCAA’s all time winningest QB in history who carried that team on his back for 4 years. I could be wrong but I can’t imagine anyone choosing Martin over Moore as MVP.

Wow, Miguel, I had no idea you knew so much more than the people in the NFL and the draft gurus who all liked the pick. Can I get your autograph?

I have the liberty to speak the truth. The emperor isn’t wearing any clothes.
NFL gurus have to kiss Buc butts in exchange for access to the front office. Even Joe is limited in what he writes because if he crucifies Dominik, they will shut him out. Joe is quite subtle in how he criticizes the Buc’s front office by calling Dominik a rockstar or not.
That being said, it is my job to crucify the Buc’s GM, notice that I don’t have any comments on Schiano pro or con. I haven’t seen much of him.
Sean King is on the radio now, saying glowing things about the Buc’s draft but he doesn’t hesitate to call for the Dolphin’s front office to be fired. Sean’s looking for a job in the Tampa Bay market and he must have that access to the Buc’s. He’s not going to burn any bridges, neither will the “NFL Guru’s”.

Miguel, Doug Martin was Boise States Offensive MVP and their Bowl game MVP, a simple google search would have revealed this information.

Miguel, you seem very high on yourself and low on sense. People blast other teams, including the Bucs, every year at different times. NFL gurus do not have to kiss anyone’s butts. Why on Earth would they put the Buc’s picks on a pedestal over everyone else? Your logic is flawed in a big way. Whatever though, you’re not going to answer with anything that doesn’t make it sound like you’re some magic draft God sent from Valhalla. No need to respond.

@Imrivers I did a Bing search and came up with zilch. Thanks for your input.
@Pewtergoon, I don’t think I’m any kind of expert but there are many on this site who are. I am simply stating that the consensus of the fans and experts on this site was to pick an elite talent with the #5 overall pick. Joe even wrote an article stating that Dominik could not possibly screw that up.
Well, he did and then lied about it saying that they got their man, he was kind of nervous when the Cowboys moved ahead of him at #6 but then relieved when they chose Claiborne. That’s a lie. Notice that Schiano won’t say that they got their man.
