Raheem Courting Continues

Apparently looking to shore up their defense, or scare the hell out of their fans, the Vikings are welcoming the worst defensive coordinator in the 2011 NFL for a visit.
BSPN is reporting that Raheem Morris will meet with Vikings’ brass for a powerful position.
Morris will meet with Vikings coach Leslie Frazier and newly named general manager Rick Spielman to discuss a possible job as defensive coordinator or assistant head coach/defense.
Raheem probably has a strong shot at this gig. The Vikings were 11th in the NFL against the run, so they won’t need Raheem to craft new methods to stuff the run, something he never figured out in Tampa. Joe can only imagine how Raheem might answer for his run defense in an interview.
The Vikings were 26th against the pass, even with Jared Allen and a strong pass rush, so Raheem might just be their man.

This is a pretty good indicator that other team(s) view the problem in Tampa as one with the organization itself and not Raheems ability to coach.

Contrary to the evidence of his statistical results (because stats are for losers)
Raheem is Good Coach and under the right environment,
he will succeed. Assistant Head Coach would be ideal for him. That defense is already established and Rah’s enthusiasm will keep it on it already set path without stagnating.

How many head coaching vacancies has raheem interviewed for so far? ZERO, not even on the college level. He’s only getting viewed as DB coach or DC, which is what he should have always been in tampa.
Sounds like a coach who was promoted before he should have been.

Who really cares, this guy can’t lead a team. Maybe a small group of secondary players when one of your guys is a pro bowler like Rhonde. Good luck to the Vikings or whoever hires him. Pathetic leader of men thats all I have to say. The guy has no guts.

Wait I change my mind he did have the guts to force poor Brian Price to hobble out of the stadium on his one good hamstring after his one personal foul of the year. While Talib and Winslow were probably smoking blounts on the sideline chuckling. What a joke for a head coach. Thankfull that chapter is over. Worst Buc coach ever in the history. We will look back and laugh at the Raheem Morris days.

Even Ray Perkins got a position coach job in the NFL after the Bucs, and Richard Williamson.
Id be very surprised if anybody gave Rah the keys to their defense as DC.

Working under Jim Haslet would be great for him IMO. Remember he was the guy Dungy wanted to hire as our DC before they made the deal for Monte. Hes got the Skins playing good D.

You know, if given the chance to be HC over DC i would take it as well. Its not often you get asked. I have no problems with Raheem being an Assitant HC or DB coach once again.
Sure he may not have been ready for a HC job but you shouldnt bash the guy either. He played what he was dealt as would any other individual. I wish him the best on these interviews and hopes he lands in the right situation.

I think the reason the Bucs defense didn’t do well is because Raheem was wearing 2 hats. He really wasn’t spending a lot of time as DC. The most he did was on the sidelines…when he was in the role of head coach.
Regardless…I think this is the Rooney Rule in action.

remember when vince papale made the eagles fresh off the street…..the glazers should have regular people interview for a couple of random coaching positions….street walk ins….and highly publicize it….hey if we are going to be a complete mockery, might as well go full throttle….they could hire me as conditioning coach….i would make sure that after all guys washed their hair, they all rinsed with conditioner as well….that job sounds easy enough for even someone as dumb as me……adam from ny

Who wouldn’t succeed under the “right” environment? Isn’t that the point of having a coach, having someone to come in and take the reigns to fix an issue (s) as opposed to having the perfect situation where anyone could succeed? That statement makes no sense. In every job I have had, there were lots of issues to “right.” If I didn’t have the ability, then I have been let go.

you can believe glazer #2 all you want to with his podium speach…but i didn’t buy any of it…it was crap…it’s pretty easy to hear when someone speaks, if they themselves don’t even believe what they are saying….it just comes out sort of wrong….and that sentence was a bold faced lie…..that you can believe son.

minnesota is said to have the nices people in the country living there….number 1 state for niceness….rah will do well over there buying rounds for all the drunks….they will love his craft brew drinking a**…..and he will be the coach in waiting as leslie frazier is just simply not that good of a head coach and will fall out of the position as soon as he fell in….he is almost hot seat material already….rah will go there if he can…get a warm coat…..and lay in the cut until he is promoted to head honcho…..adam from ny

Seems JBF with more viewers is also bringing out people that are not for adding quality point of view to our forum. They just needed a new forum after being banned from other forums for being personal in the attacks or being completely clueless and add nothing of real interest. While I’m not for censorship, I hope JBF looks into banning or filtering those that do not add meaningful input to the forum positive or negative. I’ve been on here since close to the beginning and will stay as long as JBF continues to give me my Bucs updates in the tongue in cheek manner calling BS when necessary but always staying on target with Bucs updates. Us long timers on the site would do well to ignoring those without meaningful input or personal attacks. Keep up the good work Joe. Go Bucs!

I do not agree with Adam’s insults.
But Sgt. Mike, weren’t you and Hawaiian 2 of the commenters who were trying to get Joe to ban me for saying “hateful, false, intentionally provocative” things about the bucs being a terribly coached, under-talented, cheap organization that had been siphoning/saving money instead of pursuing winning for years.
Truthfully, commenters were asking Joe to ban me for arguing what was obvious to me and now has turned out to be true. Now many who tried to get me banned have acknowledged that I was right all along and was not being a “hater” or “troll” – just being objective. Sometimes, you have to see through the rose-colored glasses and be objective about the product irrespective of the unusual outcome.
Dungy says he can tell if the team is good even if they are losing bc the improving nfl football teams compete in close games and in 1/2 a season start to figure out how to win most of them and then the next step is to start dominating poor teams consistently, winning at home frequently and that becomes the formula for winnning divisions etc. The 09-11 bucs never showed that ability and often got blown out. Most of their 17 wins were fluky backup qb wins, or barely meaningful week 17 wins etc. They consistently exhibited the signs of a bad football team (bad starts, penalties, defensive breakdowns).
You must be careful with censorship bc it starts a slippery slope. However there is a point where there is no intellectual value to a comment.

Well actually I was right there with you. I felt and still feel the Glazer boys need to prove fans me that they are willing to do what there father did to put a winner on the field. I have staunchly been against the hiring/ elevation of Rah since the beginning. I have never asked for anyone to be banned nor have I participated in personal attacks on players, coaches or commenters anywhere. Banning/censoring is up to the proprietors of this site. I merely pointed out that with more site visitors that comes with JBF’s popularity that we have also seen the newer posters are leaving comments with little value whatsoever to the real fans like you and I. I usually ignore personal attacks and stay to the issues at hand, the Bucs putting a winner back on the gridiron. My biggest wrong was I felt Freeman was not what Rah/ Dom thought he was. I am squarely in Freeman’s camp now. He proved to me he is a solid up and coming franchise QB.

Raheem has spent his whole NFL career trying to improve Buccaneer players and deserves that respect.
I hope he goes on and has success (just not when he’s coaching against the bucs)

2.2: your posts have become more respectful and even-handed since Rah started on his downward spiral around the bowl after the Chicago game and when many fans began turning on him. Prior to that, however, you were a thorn in many people’s sides, not because of your opinions but because you constantly threw disrespectful names towards Rah, McCoy, etc, rather than offering well-reasoned opinions. You were contrary just to be contrary most of the time, and most folks weren’t comfortable with the personal character you were revealing through your comments during that time. You have improved, mainly because you feel part of the group now I think.

Raheem basically fielded a starting defense composed of 75%
practice squad guys. Other teams know that.
Unlike the Tampa media shills they know what’s REALLY going on here.

All you guys that are trashing him (which many of you are the same ones who loved him in 2010) better really be careful. If he becomes highly successful at another team, you are going to really look pretty stupid. How many times is this scenario going to have to happen in Tampa for the fans to realize this and just shut their trap. Coaching (and playing) in the NFL is usually about finding the right fit. All of these guys know more football than we will ever come close to knowing, yet sometimes things just don’t work. It wouldn’t shock me one bit if he becomes a great hire for another team. In fact, it would shock me more if he didn’t. Just be really careful with what you say, because it often times can come back to bite you in the arse.

Once again, you really have a comprehension problem. I said that you shouldn’t be able to blab false, ridiculous accusations towards Raheem (and everyone else you hate in this organization). It’s one thing to have facts, but to just make blind accusations without a shred of proof (especially when everyone with a brain knows you are lying) shouldn’t be tolerated. I stand by that, even when you do it to the next coach.

I liked Rah, wish him well, but at this point I could care less what he did or what he does. All water under the bridge, but I wish they would have given Keith Millard one more year, because he was always fired up and believe can produce results. Dom is still our Gm and I’m okay with that. I just want to win and I hope they have all learned some costly and valuable lessons. I might go $1Billion, but $975 Million is the right amount for the team.

I wish the best to Rah and his family. Hope he finds a respectable job soon. I think Raheem as a Head Coach is very much a possibility in future, like 4-5 years from now, if he lands a stable job under a good coach and learns all the little things that made them successful.
