Raheem Morris “Sabotaged”
January 3rd, 2012Shaun King is angry and he’s not taking it any more.
King, one of only three quarterbacks to lead the Bucs to an NFC title game, has long been a staunch defender of jettisoned Bucs coach Raheem Morris.
And while King stated today in his monologue on the “too Jewish” King David Show he co-hosts with Toby David, heard on WQYK-AM 1010, that he understands losing 10 games in a row to end a season will see any coached fired, King lashed out at Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik and Team Glazer, claiming the suits at One Buc Palace “sabotaged” Morris.
“This is the most complete lowpoint in the history of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers organization,” King said. “Raheem Morris was sabotaged in the very beginning by Mark Dominik and the Glazer family.
“As a head coach, all you ask for is to control your own destiny. Unfortunately, he had no control.”
King went on to say that Dominik has complete authoritarian control of the team, from player acquisition to the hiring of assistant coaches. King also claimed Morris did not want to be both head coach and defensive coordinator but that Morris was all but forced to wear both hats because it was a cost-saving move.
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:00 pm
I agree that Morris was set up to fail. I agree Dominik has a teflon butt and deserves a lot more fire than he’s getting. None of that means Morris should have stayed, but Dominik had a lot to do with this collapse.
However, that Raheem was forced to be DC is fairly ridiculous. Morris was bragging about how he’d never give up the DC role unless forced to.
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:02 pm
Who really cares what this fat slob thinks? The true most complete low point in the history of the Buccaneers was when King was our QB.
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:02 pm
LOL
Shaun King is not who he thinks he is and it shows.
Raheem forced to be the DC as well as HC? I find that hard to believe.
What’s NOT hard to believe is that King believes he knows far more than he apparently does.
Totally irrelevant IMO.
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:04 pm
I replied to a tweet from Shaun yesterday and he blocked me. I think Shaun and Raheem are an item they he’s defending him. Face it ppl Raheem was never good and last year was a fluke!
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:07 pm
if we had any other QB during the King years we would have another Super Bowl ring
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:07 pm
King says some interesting things, but he needs to back up those statements with proof, otherwise its his “opinoin”
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:08 pm
What concerns me the most is if Dominik is there because he is the puppet henchman of ownership, there to carry on their dirty work and pattern of frugality. Have some real concerns at this point whether real change is on the way, despite Raheems firing. I do believe Raheem was set up to fail, but I also believe that the coaching was substandard and that he deserved not to be retained.
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:11 pm
King is, was, and always be a JOKE!! I don’t know what his hard on if for Raheem…Morris was the DC and the HC. The Defense SUCKED OUT LOUD…this was the WORST team in the NFL the last 4 games.
How did they beat the Saints and Falcons if the Glazers and Dominik set him up for failure.
Someone please tell me why King is so Pro-Raheem and Anti-Dominik?
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:12 pm
King do us all a favor and shut up. How was Morris being forced to be a HC and DC? When he fired the D coordinator (Jim Bates) 8 games into the season. Where is shaun’s proof from this statement. I hate shaun “couldn’t cut it as a NFL quaterback” king.
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:15 pm
If Dominik had complete control, I don’t think we would have necessarily drafted Freeman and we certainly wouldn’t have kept Rah’s boy aqib on the roster
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:17 pm
LMAO! And Raheem didn’t see this coming when he signed on to BE the head coach….while Gruden was still coach (aka behind Gruden’s back)??
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:17 pm
I liked Morris, but even I find Kings comments to be a bunch of bull.
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:18 pm
Rah sucked, and Dom sucked just equally bad. 50/50, Dom did nothing in FA to help w the secondary, picked up Haynesworth, and made softy McCoy the 8th highest paid player in the NFL. Wow, Dom is mediocre, Andrew Freidman is the only Rockstar GM in Tampa.
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:21 pm
Am I right or do we only have 6 picks this year? 1-3 and 5-7?
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:22 pm
Did King site his source for all his info or is this just his opinion. Whether Morris was sabatoged or not is irrelevant at this point. If his job was that much out of his control then I’m glad he was fired. It wasn’t going to get any better. If and I emphasize if, we hire a big name coach, he will not accept the job under those conditions, like Morris did. My biggest fear is the Glazers wil give someone like, dare I say it, Clyde Christanson a shot at a head coaching job. If he were to even get an interview, I think I would probably jump off the Sunshine Skyway bridge.
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:23 pm
No 4th rounder. Traded to philly for Stocker.
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:24 pm
Dom @$$ Dom should be booted.
I can be a better GM, I would atleast give my head coach more than a punter.
Jonathan Joseph, Doug Free, and Cullen Jenkins, and Caddy would have been retained.
Mediocre Mark cut #55, that is a cardinal sin.
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:24 pm
Everybody knows that King was possibly the worst QB to ever play for the Bucs. Nobody cares what he says because he knows about as much about NFL football as he did about playing QB. Sounds like he is just full of hard feelings and himself.
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:25 pm
What Free Agent WR’s are out there? We can use 2 new ones.
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:26 pm
Many GM’s have final say over player acquisition and coaching hires. So what? Does that mean most teams in the NFL are running a big conspiracy against their head coaches? What a ridiculous accusation.
The Glazers, and Dominik, just like all owners and GM’s, want to win. Sabotaging their head coaches so they lose ten games in a row by blowout margins and risk losing at least half their season ticket sales, as well as looking like a bunch of losing idiots, is not on the agenda. These guys all have egos and they want badly to win.
Shaun King is showing his conspiracy theorist roots for all to see. Why not just man up and admit that Raheem just couldn’t cut it? Because in the final analysis that’s exactly what transpired here. Nothing more, nothing less.
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:27 pm
I can see Mark D having control over player & coaching moves but don’t buy into Raheem having no say.
As far as him being forced to be HC & DC… if that is true then that is completely unacceptable. However, the fact that they hired a DC and it failed and then Raheem took over leads me to think this is false… but who knows.
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:27 pm
King is allergic to pineapple too, he should shut his pie hole, and take his talents to South Beach with Bron Bron.
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:31 pm
We should hire Tom Clements, and bring in Spagnolo to do the D, maybe even add a special Teams Coach, and bring in Mike Martz to OC.
Our forts pick should be Trent Richardson. Get a DB in round 2.grab 1 or 2 DB’s in FA.
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:32 pm
@the other Patrick
Add something else to your name, cause I’m the other Patrick that posts here regularly. lol.
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:39 pm
SteveK:
He did not cut Brooks
He cut an old guy wearing #55.
The D Brooks you are thinking of was gone a couple of years before that.
These guys dont play forever….you gotta move on, dude
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:40 pm
I agree that Raheem clearly didn’t get a good group of players to work with but King’s defense of him is a bit over the top. The players quit on him. the same players that wouldn’t quit in 2009 quit on him in 2011. There’s no excuse for that. Ironically it was the “veteran” players that quit. The rookies and 2nd year guys played their butts off for the most part.
Apparently Fisher will be at One Buc tomorrow for an interview.
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:41 pm
King is off base. The Garbage In (coaching) created the Garbage out (play on the field). However, we have not drafted adequately and the few free agents acquired have been horrible.
For example, Michael Clayton sucked under Gru, Rah and Coughlin – yet Dom gave him a huge 10+ million dollar guaranteed contract. Idiotic.
Derek Ward stunk under Rah and Kubiak
– yet Rah gave him a FA deal. Senseless.
Why did Dom keep Black over Ruud? Stupid. Those moves are on Dom and how much it would have mattered with bad coaching is hard to tell – but Dom doesnt resemble a rockstar.
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:43 pm
@sooner Someone please tell me why King is so Pro-Raheem and Anti-Dominik?
King loved Dungy, hated Gruden, loves Morris, hates Dominik. Anyone else here see the pattern I’m seeing?
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:46 pm
Given that King bought into the whole Raheem Morris fiasco his credibility is waning.
He did bring up that the Glazer boy who spoke yesterday said that no buc drafted by the franchise ever left over money.
Sapp, Lynch, Dunn were correctly brought up by King to refute that statement.
The whole Dom thing makes me very nervous. I really hope they are not going to end up relying on him for the coaching decision and to have final say on drafting and other player moves. Thats guaranteed to quell any excitement generated over the new coach and staff.
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:46 pm
Dominik’s about as much a rock star as Clay Aiken.
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:48 pm
Kings an idiot!! A never-has-been!
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:56 pm
King is a terrible opinion haver. He is a cranky Dixie chick.
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:56 pm
Eric:
Joe thinks that Dom is almost completely without fault (just 15%) and is a rockstar – speaking of stretching credibility.
There is no way in hell that I would have Dom with his poor record of acquiring solid players being in charge of the rebuild of the failed rebuild.
King is too cozy with Rah to be objective; Joe is too cozy with Dom to be objective.
The truth is: Dom has done a poor job of acquiring talent and Rah did a worse job of developing it = the prescription of a ten game losing streak with most in blowout fashion.
The Vikings lost 13 games but I believe that 10 were 7 points or less – they are a team that is close but had quarterback issues.
January 3rd, 2012 at 2:57 pm
Is Morris Claiborne the real deal?
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:01 pm
We need playmakers at Coach and GM.
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:02 pm
Probably true to some degree, but does it really matter now?
Moving forward, how about Vontaze Berfict at #5 for MLB and slide Foster to the outside?
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:07 pm
Burfict gets stupid penalties. I like Trent Richardson.
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:13 pm
Shaun King needs to grow up and let it go. Its over, done and all this crap is water under the bridge. Really, as if the Glazers are going to listen to anything Shaun King has to say anyway. Sheez
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:15 pm
thomas 2.2:
LOLOLOLOL Thomas, you are a treat… and a trip! 🙂
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:15 pm
Joe/Thomas 2.2/Anyone, What is the chain of command at One Buc? Did Raheem Morris report to Dominik ie his boss? Will the new coach report to Dominik or directly to Joel Glazer? The answer will help determine what kind of coach we can expect.
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:19 pm
Again, nobody thought Morris was being sabotaged at 10-6 and 4-2.
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:22 pm
@ FLBoy that is the best thing i’ve read all day!!! thank u for that.
@SteveK there are plenty of WRs that will be free agents this year. someone correct me if i’m wrong but i believe some notable ones are: Mike Wallace, DeSean Jackson, Vincent Jackson, Dwayne Bowe, Stevie Johnson, Robert Meachem, Marques Colston, Mario Manningham. i might be forgetting others, but that’s just off the top of my head. also keep in mind, not all of these guys will actually hit the open market.
personally, I’d like to see someone like Meachem get signed. with so many other holes (LB, CB, S, RB, OL) i don’t think they should throw #1 WR money at anyone. Meachem has some size, but he also brings deep speed to stretch the field and add a new element to the offense. and i don’t think he will command the same kind of $ as someone like Bowe, Vincent Jackson, or Mike Wallace. although ideally i would love to see Wallace come here….he will prob stay in Pittsburgh, and if he doesn’t bidding could get pricey.
for everyone crying for DeSean Jackson….yes he is incredibly talented. but with all the quitting going on this year, i’d rather not see a guy who will turn his back on his teammates, come up with endless excuses and complaints, and get alligator arms when a hit is coming his way.
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:22 pm
The chain of command is that when the Glazers are gonna cut a check they are in command!
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:23 pm
Macabee:
Current — as of noon yesterday — chain of command is Joel Glazer/Bryan Glazer > Mark Dominik.
Joel and Bryan pretty much work in concert. Joel’s focus is mostly the business side and Bryan oversees football operations, but the two pretty much are equals and consult with each other on major decisions.
Again, Dominik just reupped his contract for four years. That tells Joe that Team Glazer likes him.
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:27 pm
like DeSean Jackson, Burfict has a ton of talent. unlike DJax, Burfict is over competitive (for lack of a better way to describe it). think about it….the guy couldn’t be trusted by his coaches and was benched for 95% of a bowl game, which is likely the last game of his collegiate career. if his coaches can’t trust him to keep him on the field in a big game, i’ll have to say no thank you to Mr. Burfict.
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:28 pm
DeSean Jackson anyone???
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:31 pm
What a terrible opinion. This is what I think of it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-I7oZBn5q8
If anyone sabotaged Raheem Morris it was the players. They
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:31 pm
quit on him.
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:35 pm
I would LOVE to have DeSean Jackson in Pewter! We get him and D in the first round again, or OT………or LB……or whatever the new HC wants and needs.
Still like Justin Blackmon at 5 if no FA WO comes here. Anyone who watched that game last night HAS to know just how good that kid is. WOW!
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:39 pm
Conspiracy to sabotage Morris, Why? If you are GM and want to get rid of the coach just fire Him.
History shows that good organizations build good football teams in the NFL. Both Rah and Dominik were part of this bad org.
If I were the Glazers I would start with putting Polian or Angelo on my speed dial
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:47 pm
DeSean Jackson is going to be franchised people. Stop the madness lol.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/01/02/desean-jackson-apologizes-would-gladly-take-francise-tag/
January 3rd, 2012 at 3:59 pm
just because he said he would accept the franchise tag, it doesn’t mean they will offer it to him. they are done with him and all the nonsense that inevitably comes along with his exciting plays. please read one of my previous comments though. with all the BS and quitting and distractions that went on this season, the LAST thing we need is someone who would bring more.
January 3rd, 2012 at 4:02 pm
Maybe the HC was cut loose because he wouldn’t fire the DC. Stinky as the offense was the defense was totally exposed early this year and it didn’t take a genius to game plan against Raheem’s Tampa 2.1 – let the D line penetrate and push them outside the pocket, tie up the linebackers and run up the score.
January 3rd, 2012 at 4:33 pm
shaun king is a hack and a racist……bottom line
January 3rd, 2012 at 5:51 pm
There is NO WAY we take Burifct at #5. That would be idiotic when we could trade down and probably get him in the mid to later part of round 1. If we were gonna take a LB at #5 it would be Kuechly.
January 3rd, 2012 at 5:52 pm
I meant Burfict.
January 3rd, 2012 at 5:55 pm
@Garv….I wouldn’t be disappointed if they traded down and then took Alshon Jeffery. He’s a beast too.
January 3rd, 2012 at 6:23 pm
@Bobby
Trading down is always an option and maybe easier to do with the new CBA.
If it gets us another top player? Sure!
But not picking Blackmon if he’s there would bother me unless we had already brought in top FA WO. to be honest I’m not familiar with Jeffery and going with what I saw last night. I was that impressed!
January 3rd, 2012 at 7:47 pm
If the Bucs win a Super Bowl with the next HC, will all the Mark Domink haters still find reasons to hate both the HC and Mark Dominik?
January 3rd, 2012 at 8:40 pm
stfu shaun ! your a dumbass nobody cares what your fathead has to say.
