Firing Raheem Morris Was Not A “PR Move”

January 3rd, 2012

In this BSPN video, former WFTS-TV sportscaster and current Soviet Mouse outfit indentured servant Sage Steele suggested that Raheem Morris being jettisoned by Team Glazer was a “PR move to satisfy bloodthirsty Bucs fans who loathed Morris. But NFL analyst Adam Schefter quickly shot that down and discussed the state of the Bucs.

Firing Morris was not a PR move. Saying you’re now “Going to Spend Whatever it Takes to Win” is a PR move!

  6. Ian P. Says:

Of course it was a PR move. Mainly because Dominik needed to go as well if we expect any real improvement.
Morris and Dominik were equally to blame. Firing Morris was the easy PR move.

Everything the owners do is a PR move. I’m quite sure that if the stadium was packed all year long and the team struggled as they did and we had a fan base (not to be confused with those that support the team only when successful) to fill the stadium next year Morris would’ve been kept for at least another year.

If you think anything different you must be getting a pay check from the owners as a PR move as well, or want to keep in good standing with them to get inside info ;).

Being willing to “spend whatever it takes to win” likely means “and not a penny more.” A little more spending on proven performance rather than potential and everything will probably work out. Paying a king’s ransom and 2 draft picks for a HC and replacing him for peanuts with a position coach and sky-high potential were both mistakes. An ambitious coordinator with something to prove may be a better value.

Raheem will never be a NFL head coach again.

  10. Sam Says:

They should at least interview Rich Bisaccia for the job. I think he’ll be a good head coach one day… Only problem is he probably wouldn’t be able to put together a good enough coaching staff, particularly O & D Coordinators.
