“Cheering” Raheem Morris’ Fall From Grace
January 2nd, 2012The good people of WFLA-TV Channel 8 visited tailgaters/mental midgets at the Outback Bowl earlier today and found fans praising Team Glazer’s move to jettison Raheem Morris.
The video gets reaction on Raheem Morris’ demise from several Bucs fans that were tailgating outside the Outback Bowl when news broke. Full disclosure: Joe was in that crowd drinking Dos Equis when a cheer erupted from the party next to him. “What happened?” Joe asked. “The Bucs fired Raheem,” a grinning man said.

What a class act, joe

Boy I feel like I have new life… in anew year! This is fun.
I can’t believe how down I allowed Raheem’s poorly coached team to get to me.
But that disaster is all overwith, and the Bucs futire is so bright I am gonna need to get a welder’s mask for this ride!

The Glazers have our backs, they want to win. Many forget Mark Dominick was the one who wanted to only build through the draft, and admitted it on a sports radio interview.
Our new coach would not have come here, unless he was promised our owners would do what it takes to put a winning team on the field next year.
We must make the right draft moves and decisions, perhaps even trade down and out of our number 5 pick, for more draft picks.
This was a great video, the Brats made me hungry.

It’s really nothing to be proud of. I’m not going to party because a good man has lost his job. Although the firing was justified, it doesn’t mean I’m going to rejoice over it. It makes me really want Morris to be successful elsewhere, and I truly believe that he will.

Paint a man in the corner then piss on his feet typical and classless. He was set up to fail and thats what happened. So when does bill pollian become general manager of this club? Dominic is not the solution he makes mention they are after he’s actually the problem

Hawaiian Buc, I agree with you 100%.
I take no pleasure in Raheem being kicked to the curb, along with his entire staff. I feel bad for them all and I believe they all tried their best even if it wasn’t good enough. I hope the team takes a better direction all the way around as Joel Glazer indicated they would. Raheem was the fall guy, and should have been, but I wanted him to succeed, and I’m not happy about it. I like him a lot and think he is great person. I’m sure in 2013′ after another $2Mill in his pocket, Raheem will end up on Mike Tomlin’s staff.

Raheem Morris will be just fine. He may have been in a little over his head, but Dominik gave him very little to work with.
All a coach can really do is bench a player, but Raheem couldn’t even do that, because he had no one of any real talent to replace them with.
I agree, Raheem was the fall guy in many ways.

What do you expect from some of these in-bread ya-whoo buc fans? Don’t get me wrong. It was time for him to go. The players stop playing for him. But as soon as he was hired, there was real hatred for the guy. They hated the fact he did well his second year. Now they’re overjoyed, like just won the Superbowl. The whole Tampa Bay area DO NOT deserve any kind of professional sports team.

It’s also funny to me that all these people who are celebrating what is I’m sure a horrible moment for many coaches and their families really believe they have enough football knowledge to accurately decide on who should or shouldn’t be coach. Who died and made you the football king? Very classless and pathetic. Some of you don’t deserve a winner.

It’s important to note that the coaching prospect pool is not very strong HC wise. There’s a bunch of OCs and DCs but not HCs.
Celebrating with no coaching staff in place at all? Not too wise. Let’s get excited once a coach is named but the Bucs are an enigma right now.
Way too early to celebrate…wish you the best of luck in the future Morris.
GO BUCS!

@Bucbeliever
I would say the HC prospect pool is fairly strong.
People that have head coaching experience:
Bill Cowher, Jeff Fisher, Marty Schottenheimer, Brian Billick, Mike Sherman.
Hell, if we even considered a 68 year old Marty, call up Jimmy Johnson. Same age and he actually has 2 super bowl rings.
Name any others I didn’t mention.

@Patrick,
I don’t think Cowher or Shottenheimer are even looking for jobs. That’s just speculation IMO. Not sure I would consider Mike Sherman a strong candidate (and not necessarily Fisher). They are sought after because they are about the best that is out there, but in a normal year they would probably not be so sought after. You just never know who is going to be a great coach in a different situation. I do know one thing, if we don’t add some talent and depth, Bellicheat couldn’t take this team to the playoffs.

People cheer for the wrong things. To be happy for others miseries is as low as I can fathom. I remember a few years ago people were cheering when Chicago lost their Olympics bid, they cheered because the president is from there. People disgust me.
Schottenheimer is not coming here, he is retired. Jimmy Johnson, Dick Vermeil and Don Shula are also not coming here.
Mike Sherman couldn’t coach at Texas A&M, I’m sure he’d do well with this young roster.
It might take Cowher 8 or 9 million a season to come here.
Billick and Fisher in the 5-6 range.
That being said coaching is overrated. Good players aren’t.

God I cannot believe the comments on here!
Firstly everyone gives Joe a pass on using the term ‘mental midget’ to describe long-time Bucs fans that were being interviewed; real classy Joe.
Second tell me anything that the people in the video said that wasn’t true? Raheem has been nothing but a blight on this team. His piss poor decisions in year one resulted in a 3-13 season. This year the Bucs have a record making 10 game losing streak.
PLUS Raheem gets a 2 MILLION dollar severance package!!!!! WOW. How many readers here, on this site, can screw up their company and get $2 million as they are escourted out of the door?
Be real people – he needed to go. Now get Fisher in here to start evaluating the talent before the draft.

Joe doesn’t always drink beer but when he does he….oh wait Joe does always drink beer.
I don’t think people are cheering for the firing as much as a cheering for the hope that the change brings…it’s like the draft and training camp, remember how much we cheered every player and coach.
On to the draft and lets enjoy watching Dominik work his magic
January 3rd, 2012 at 8:46 am
I fully understand the need for change. It really had to be done. I’m excited along with most of us for the future. That does NOT mean I celebrate a man who gave his all to the Buccaneers getting fired.
But then again, I was and am a fan of Tony Dungy, Jon Gruden and Sam Wyche. There seems to be an either/or rule regarding respecting these men among many that I refuse to follow.
So while it’s time to move on and certainly a time for hope, I don’t believe in bashing Raheem Morris now. He’s been fired…..that’s quite enough. Will we have to expect years of it ala Jon Gruden? Hopefully not but around here….probably.
Now……who is going to be our HC? Lots of strong candidates out there thankfully.

Joe,
Gonna take the high road and not pile on Rah or his staff. It is in the past. Great feeling waking up today. I am going to, once again, put my faith in the Glazers to make good choices. I will support the owners until they give me a reason not to.
With that said, we can dissect yesterday’s rpess conference and fine contradictions. But for now, it is time to hbe hopeful.

I think if the Glazers decide they want Cowher, they will make him an offer he can’t refuse. Paying a head coach and extra $10 Million over 3 years pales in comparison to player salaries and the new cap numbers. The HC is arguably the most valuable player on the team. I just don’t know if Bill Cowher’s heart is still in coaching. When Jimmie Johnson came back to coaching last time his drive wasn’t the same as before and this could be a problem with many coaches who have shared the low stress, good life on the media stage. I think Jeff Fisher will get offered big money (name your price) to take the St Louis job and where he will end up. I do feel that time really is of the essence in getting this done. If you snooze, you lose. It has happened to the Bucs time after time.
January 3rd, 2012 at 11:09 am
The Bucs are still a business. The more the owners pay in overhead the less is left to pay on personnel, including free agents. Paying top dollar for the next HC is not going to lead to high dollar free agents it’s going to lead to more sifting through the league’s leftovers. Look for the Glazers to give a coordinator with prior HC experience another shot at an affordable price leaving enough money to for the better free agents and trades everyone is calling for.
January 3rd, 2012 at 12:50 pm
The Glazers are about 30 million under the salary cap so it’s not like they can’t pay a HC and get some impact FA’s.
