There was another Kellen Winslow pass interference call today, a typical Winslow pushoff that stalled a Bucs drive in Panthers’ territory and might have cost the Bucs four first-half points — when the game was still competitive.
The same penalty has plagued Winslow all year.
Then in the second half, Winslow all but handed the ball away to the Panthers (see photo above) in a stunning display of lousy ball security.
Sure, Winslow has great talent, but as precious and precise as veterans need to be on a young Buccaneers team, Winslow is sloppy and has appeared whiny at times. Plus his blocking won’t be confused with Jimmy Giles’ anytime soon.
One could easily make the case that Winslow is the worst tight end in the NFC South.
Joe’s just not feeling how Winslow and his chronic knee issues are part of the future of this team. The Bucs have to get better at tight end, especially if they’re not going to upgrade the receiving corps in the offseason.

Winslow has KILLED absolutely KILLED several drives this season. What is this guy doing jumping in the first place. There were THREE, let me repeat that, THREE defenders around and he thought he was going to just jump on over one of them and outrun the other two. GO DOWN and keep the drive alive. Winslow should be someone we never talk about when it comes to penalties yet and ball control but every week he is brought up. granted that push off was not a push off he simply touched the defender there was no shoving at all there but it happens week after week. I don’t see any other WR getting the same call every play. Yes he is a WR because he does no blocking what so ever. WHY ARE YOU JUMPING IF YOU HAVE BAD KNEES ANYWAY. plus every time i see him make a catch the camera follows him to the sideline and he is all out of breath and what not. Do i think he is jettisoned from the team, no not at all. would i like to see him gone, sometimes but we have way too many holes to fill we simply can not get rid of him for things that he can correct so easily.

What I can’t stand about K2 is every time he makes a catch he gets up all violent like “Get off me”. Please, its an 8 yard catch.
Kellen Winslow had a lot of potential, he was an enormous talent at U of M. But his knees have had the best of him. He is the equal of a 36 year old right now, and there is no reason to keep him. Time to shop for a TE while a Stocker grows into his role. There are several others that need to go next year too, without even competing for a job. Safety Jones, Kregg Lumpkin (although he played with heart today) Quincy Black, Geno Hayes, and a few others.

The draft website Draftsite.com have the Bucs taking a TE in the 3rd round – Michael Egnew, supposedly a Jimmy Graham look-alike from Mizzou.

K2 will be gone next year along with most of this coaching staff, including Raheem. Thankfully. And the new head coach needs to be given final say on personnel matters, taking it out of Dominik’s hand. Keep Dominik as head draft preparer and contract guy, but take his hands completely off free agency. His record there has been atrocious. I’m looking forward to the changes coming over the next two weeks.

Wait, we’re talking about the guy that’s leading the team in receptions for the 3rd straight year right? That guy?
JOE, why don’t you post an article about the guys like Mike Williams who CANNOT get separation against corners and do Freeman zero favors. Instead you call out Kellen for AGAIN putting out a solid performance. Kellen screws up, but it’s in the midst of SHOWING SOME F’ING EFFORT. Poor ball security, sure, no excuse for the fumble. It is what it is. But at least he gets his damn hands on the ball in order to make a mistake, where as the other receivers are no where to be seen for the entire game.
You clowns kill this dude for actually showing some passion in his play, something you can’t say for most of his team mates. You guys are gonna run our BEST offensive weapon out of town. Locker room cancer? Explain that one to me Eric. Exactly what Patrick said, out of all our problems, we’re complaining about the best player on the offense. That is so pathetic.

Really? There are only 6 tightends having better seasons statistically this year than Kellen Winslow. Of course you’ll whine and say he doesn’t block, all while pretending it’s the 1980’s and tightends are actually expected to be good blockers. Bull crap. Your witch-hunt after Winslow is Thomas-esque Joe.

K2: your namesake isn’t a bad TE, it’s just obvious that his skills are on the decline at this point. He may stick around if the new head coach thinks he still has value, but they will definitely draft or sign a TE of the future this offseason. Without a doubt.

I mean a receiving TE…Stocker is a good all-around developmental prospect but he’s not the receiver that guys like K2, Graham, etc are.

FLBoy, There are some that will tell you Winslows knees are actually IMPROVING. I’m not one of them, I’m just putting it out there. This is the first year in Tampa that we’ve seen him hurtling players and actually looking extremely athletic. He’s still fast for a tightend. K2 isn’t the problem here, yet we want to make it out that way. Which is absolutely ridiculous.

Winslow has been our most consistent player on offense. Take him away and we have no passing game! Mike Williams has done ok, but he’s a #3 or #2 at the very best.

That was a dumb ass move trying to hurdle over the defender, especially with the ball held like a loaf of bread. He could have gone down & it’s first & ten just outside the 20. A touch down on that drive & we are still in it.

Next time, try watching the game before making such an ignorant comment. It wasn’t a push-off at all. Replays showed that clearly. It was a BS call. His reputation is what got that penalty called. Pathetic.
The fumble/hurdle was ridiculous.

Winslow can’t get open without pushing off. His penalties have been absolute drive killers. I see no reason why he should stick around past this year considering his ego, attitude and how much he’s getting paid.

92’s skills are still there the problem is there are too many plays where the first thing 82 hears is “what were you thinking” and the answer was he wasn’t.

bucswin is right. That PI on K2 was a bad call. K2 & the LB were simply using their hands for position. Neither player actually pushed off.

Winslow is done here IMO. He is not the kind of “leader” this team needs and it’s time the Bucs realized that and moved on.

If Winslow leaves, they won’t replace him with anyone. Have we even replaced Sapp, Brooks, Lynch, or Barber?

I would love to see a lot of these players with a professional coaching staff and scheme. I’d give K2 one more year.
