Will Near-Miss By Dominik Haunt Bucs Saturday?

December 16th, 2011

Remember just before the season when Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik nearly inked Cowboys offensive tackle Doug Free?

Yeah, Joe thought you may have forgotten about that.

The Cowboys and Bucs were feverishly going after Free’s services when Free decided to stay in Dallass. Now, Saturday, that may come back to haunt the Bucs and Dominik.

Free will be squaring off against Adrian Clayborn. While Free gave up a couple of sacks last week against the Giants, he believes he is ready to shut down Clayborn, writes Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Cowboys left tackle Doug Free uncharacteristically gave up two sacks to Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul last week, including one that cost the team a safety. Freeseems intent on playing better this week against Bucs defensive end Adrian Clayborn, who has 6.5 sacks this season.

“I’ve just got to keep working. That’s about it,” Free said Thursday.

Free has allowed six sacks, three quarterback hits and 22 quarterback pressures this season, according to Pro Football Focus.

This could be a critical area for the Bucs. Glamour boy Tony Romo seems to melt down late in games. If the Bucs can keep the game close and Clayborn can get some heat on Romo, Joe suspects good things will happen.

Joe suspects good things will happen? Have you not been watching the Bucs play this season? What planet are you living on? The Bucs will lose this game by at least 14 points, and probably 21 or more. Come on man, come back to reality.

  2. Joe Says:

    FLBoyInDallas:

    Joe CLEARLY qualified that statement.

  3. Matt Says:

The loss of Free has already come back to haunt us, as evidenced by Trueblood’s continued poor play.

As mentioned, according to ProFootballFocus, Free has allowed six sacks, three hits, and 22 pressures. By their rating system he’s ranked 25th out of 74 tackles who have played at least 25% of a teams snaps.

By comparison, Trueblood has allowed only three sacks, but 5 hits and a LEAGUE HIGH 43 pressures. He is ranked 70th out of 74 tackles.

The decision to re-sign Trueblood has been predictably disastrous. Trueblood proved in 2009 and 2010 (ranked 73/77 and 62/78, respectively) that he’s a terrible tackle and has proved it once again this year.

I can only hope the Bucs FINALLY wise up and bring in someone else, ANYONE, for a shot at the RT position.

Flboyindallas its fanz like you that make me sick atleast joe is keepin hes head up and hopping for the.best fanz like you arent real fans I been wit my team tru the good and the bad but I.never sat down and witched the worse on the thinkin they will lose ever other game …. Its called any given.sunday anyteam could win …. Go bucs tru good and bad im still goin for you guys

  5. 941-Bucs Says:

Trueblood was ONLY signed to keep Davin Joeseph here, plain and simple.

Hence why we signed Davin to 6 years and Trueblood to 2 years with options to break it after this year.

Davin was going to walk if we lost both Trueblood and Ruud. but we had to let go of Ruud for Foster. Trueblood was the key one tho.

    “FLBoyInDallas:

Qualified…Schmaulified!!! Good things happen????? Some people won’t get off the train tracks even when there’s a 140 Ton Locomotive bearing down on ’em! We’re at the point now that the ONLY good thing that can happen is Morris be given his pink slip! What will 1 or 2 wins do now? Morris made damned sure these guys were as ill prepared to play as possible the last 10 games yet you STILL keep pumping out the P.R.
I don’t get it, are you THAT afraid of what the team will do to you?

  7. Patrick Says:

“Tony Romo seems to melt down late in games”

Um…..I doubt he’ll melt down against the Bucs. Romo is one of the best QB’s in the league, he gets way too much blame when the Cowboys lose.

  8. Joe Says:

Christ JB, read the whole freaking post, will ya?

Joe qualified it! ‘IF THE GAME IS CLOSE.”

Do you need to go back to first grade to learn how to read?

If you or anyone is so absolutely certain the Bucs will win/lose, fly to Vegas and put your house down on it.

Yes, the Bucs should lose. Joe’s not God. He doesn’t know the future.

  9. the_buc_realist Says:

Free most likely stayed in Dallas because of Winslow. I would want to be on a team that had a Tightend that would help chip block before he ran his route.

  10. Bobby Says:

Why shouldn’t the game be close? If we hung with the Packers we can hang with the Cowboys. Will we?…Who knows? I’ve prayed about it but Joes not talking …..

    @Matt

do you subscribe to profootballfocus.com i was curious how the other lineman rank especially penn. also curious about there run blocking grades i just tried to go look but recently unemployed and dont feel like spending 30 dollars to look it up

  12. BigMacAttack Says:

I’m sick of people hating on my team, especially the national media. All the Buc Haters across the universe can all Suck It!!! We’re down, but we ain’t out, so screw you.

The Cowboys are going down hard, and Raheem’s wrath will be felt. Tony Romo may just end up like Matt Schaub. Unfortunate, but probably true. I look for a big game from our Defensive Ends.

  13. TheProsUseAdvoCare Says:

@thibs5599 Penn is ranked 8th tackle overall and 5th among LTs.

Zuttah is ranked 24th of guards overall and 13th among LGs.

Faine is ranked 27th of 32 Centers.

Joseph is ranked 37th of guards overall and 21st among RGs.

    Trueblood is as stated above.

  14. TheProsUseAdvoCare Says:

Woops, Zuttah is actually graded 20th overall and 11th among LGs. Zuttah would rank 14th overall and 7th among LGs if not for his 8 penalties(-4.9 grade in penalties is being taken off of is positive 6.3 overall blocking grade).

Penn(9.7) and Zuttah(1.4) are the only offensive linemen with positive overall grades. Both grade positive in all three blocking phases(run, pass, and screen).

  15. thibs5599 Says:

Thanks I’m glad to see penn up there he has been playing really we’ll this year. Looks like if zuttah would cut down the penalties the left side of the line would be pretty decent. I’m surprised joseph isn’t better seeing that most of blounts runs have come up the middle or to the right. But then again we always have extra lineman or tightends in to help also. If u don’t mind what about fullback lorig I was watching him specifically last wee and a few times he drov poz back 10 yards or so that guy is pretty big and he would of had a td if he didn’t get too excited and try to bull someone over last wee all he had to do is kick it outside and he was in

  16. pewterpirate99 Says:

First of all BigMac it’s not your team, it’s the CHEAP ASS poor excuse for owners Glazer’s team. THEY( not we’re, unless you were added to the roster in the last day or so and we didn’t hear about it ) are down and OUT. They will not win another game. They’re gonna get smoked like a pack of Kools! Think about it, you got the 7-6 Cowboys who are tie for first place with the Giants and have everything to play for. Then you got the sorry ass NO heart having, quiting at the first sign of adversity, semi pro looking team the Tampa Bay Buccaneers!! As far as Raheem’s wrath??!! What wrath, I mean is he going to break out in a chest bumping, cartwheel routine and then spit out a bunch of cute words he just made up?? I bet the fool would spell wrath with it “ending” in W.

  17. Rickster Says:

Felix jones will get his job back bcuz he will have a career game on the ground.
Romo will put up 300 yards and be considered as a top tier qb again. (till the next game)
Garrett will ice his hot seat talk (no pun inteded)
Just my opinion. Sorry people im a realist, but after getting killed by crappert and the jags and cam(actually pretty good) and the panthers. We wont win another.

  18. BigMacAttack Says:

Wow, PPsmoocher99, you sound like a real Buc fan, besides, how do you know if it’s my team or anybody else’s on this site? You have absolutely no clue who you are talking to each day on any website. No clue dude, zero, zip, zilch, nada, and if you want to suck on sour grapes, then be my guest. And yes, I’ll call it my team until the cows come home and you can just suck it with all the other haters. I’m banking on this team bouncing back sooner rather than later. Oh, did I say “this” team, I meant “My” team. My Bucs, My GM, My Coach, & My Team, until things change again.

  19. BigMacAttack Says:

I am just amazed at how quickly fans have totally turned on the entire team, and resorted to knocking and hating on them from top to bottom. Wow, some fans…

Yeah, I know… you’ve been a fan since 1909′, blah, blah, blah. Who cares? and yes I don’t mind sitting in the stadium by myself.

  20. Patrick Says:

@BigMacAttack…….here you go. One of those people that tries to pull this “you’re such a bad fan” crap blah blah.

Would fans of other teams put up with this embarrassment and humiliation every week? Hell no!! Ask the Dallas fans. The fans would be furious if they had to put with a “wait 4 years to make the playoffs” loser mentality plan. You think teams like the Patriots and Packers would put up with that? No way. If this were Philadelphia, Raheem would need to get bodyguards because the fans there are the craziest of all.

Raheem is lucky he coaches in Tampa. Three straight years of no playoffs, plus blowout losses to crappy teams like Jax, would’ve gotten him fired anywhere else.

  21. Bucs55 Says:

Thebucs our team need our support not for us too trow them under the bus with the rest of.theither media and its any given sunday any team could win go bucs lets get this one for the haters

  22. BigMacAttack Says:

Patrick, every team you mentioned has gone through the same thing the Bucs are, and the fans have endured. Most of those fans did a far better job than we are as well. You might want to check your history. Eagle fans go to the games regardless, because that is what they do. The truth is that we have some of the worst fans in the league. So many are so quick to pull the plug at any adversity, rain, anything. Even after one loss, people bash anything and everything, which is okay the day after a tough loss, but get over it. Incessant whining day in and day out, eventually turns into hating. Call it what you want, but its hating. You say blah, blah, blah. I say Bitch, Bitch, Bitch.

  23. thibs5599 Says:

the glazers aren’t cheap get that through your heads. Were they cheap when gruden and allen were running the team with a bunch of over paid players like charlie garner and todd struessie or whatever and we were near the cap and horrible. We are young and were losing, yes it sucks but this team has a future unlike the team in 2003 and 2004 when we were old as F#ck

  24. Patrick Says:

@BigMacAttack……and I’m aware that every team goes through this. I’m just saying other teams don’t approach rebuilding like we’re doing. They show more of an urgency to win, and right now that’s not how it seems here.

As for Dallas fans, they’re pretty harsh on their team. After they lose a game, they’re seriously tons of fans that want Tony Romo cut or released……I’m not kidding, even through he’s had a very good career so far. Dallas fans are the most spoiled of all……and they have five super bowls lol.
