Time For The Young Guns
December 9th, 2011Look, there’s no chance for playoffs. Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik has always stressed youth. So why not play all the youngsters?
That’s the line of thinking Sunday, per Stephen Holder of the St. Petersburg Times. Guys like Anthony Gaitor should see more playing time; he showed some promise in the preseason.
But a guy who got limited time in preseason is one Mossis Madu, a running back that — dare Joe say? — has speed.
But Madu came in with intentions and ambitions. Now, for Madu and players like him, opportunity is presenting itself.
“I’m as ready as I’ll ever get,” said Madu, who made his debut Sunday against Carolina and could see more action down the stretch.
“I feel like my head is in the playbook, and I’m in a good place. I know my stuff, and I’m ready to go out there and produce.”
This is simply great news. If the Bucs yearn for anything in the offensive backfield, it is for a guy to be able to run away from tackles, exploit daylight.
Perhaps Madu is one of those guys? Time may tell Sunday.

Oh no, is Madu going to take carries from Lumpkin, hahahha.
What about Kareem Huggins?
December 9th, 2011 at 11:25 am
Isnt Huggins out for the season?
Madu cant be any worse than Clumpkin.
He looked okay the few times he carried. Giv’em a shot.

SteveK:
Joe’s pretty confident Huggins’ NFL career is over.

Huggins was releasaed before the season, are you guys really that clueless?
Madu is just another quick back that will be out of the league in a year or two, time to draft a legit speedback in this comming draft.
Blount’s old running mate Lamichael James would be great in the 2-3rd.
We need to get a good reliable backup RB, Blount’s style is prone to injury and we need insurance.

I thought Madu and Gaitor played good in limited snaps. They both need more reps in games. Gaitor has good skills and instincts, it shows – he just has to prove himself with a little experience.

I hope the Bucs watched tape of the Chargers game and saw how they used the deep ball with Jackson and Floyd to put the Jags away. We have a WR on the PS, ED Gant who has the speed to stretch the field. He looked very good in preseason, but not heard from since. I’d like to see them give this kid a chance. At this point, there’s nothing to lose!

i remember madu from when the sooners beat down the noles last year guy seemed pretty fast

Im excited to see madu and gaitor play the most, gaitor had a great PD but was called for a bogus pass interference. We need corners so lets see what were working with, heard raheem praise him when we drafted him lets wee what hes got. As for madu he should get all third down reps and lets see if he can run not just catch and pass block. If he does turn out to play pretty decent over the next 4 games i still think we need a back in next years draft but maybe a pure speed/playmaker like mcluster or someone like that. With blount, who im sure we will bring back, and madu, hopefully he plays well and team gets rid of lumpkin because of him, on the roster next year we could take a chance on one of the smaller speedier RB in the draft in the later rounds

the two florida RB demps and rainey, anybody got any opinions on them.
December 9th, 2011 at 12:07 pm
@thibs5599 i think demps would be a good complement to blount

Crowder to IR, Ahmad Black just brought up.
December 9th, 2011 at 12:43 pm
Hey…maybe we could line up Madu wide and use him on an end around. Just sayin…..
LMAO! Just kidding.

It will be GREAT to see some of the youngsters playing this weekend. Now THAT will be something I will look forward to seeing. That and the Madu-around…;)

Still with this rock star crap. I know that you are just be stubborn and enjoying irritating us with that nickname. The last thing anyone on or related to this team is a rock star.
This is one of the league’s bottom franchises now. Enough with the a–kissing.

I thought demps was the better of the two also guess we will have to wait and see. The one good thing with having a 4-8 record is seeing some of these young guys play, and letting them get their chance to prove themselves. Black was a playmaker in college, i could care less how fast he ran his 40 time, how fast did john lynch run it not too fast. Yes i know black is no lynch but im just saying. Also college bowl season is coming up makes it interesting to watch guys who we could possibly draft when you have a bad record.

Why the hell didn’t we give Chad Spann a shot? The guy looked great in his college highlights.

I think Madu should have been a starter from the beginning. Any coach except for Olson could see this guy is much better than Lumkin. The best way to improve this offense is to fire Olson. Of three units on this team the offense is the biggest disappoint and Olson is the only reason they have failed miserably. Plus how can you trust a guy that doesn’t wear a hat?
