Panthers 38, Bucs 19
December 4th, 2011Welcome to the dark side — today’s “signature loss” at home to the Carolina Panthers.
This was a glorified scrimmage for Cam Newton and the Panthers offense. And the Bucs couldn’t run the ball or punch in a meaningful touchdown against the heinous Panthers defense.
Tony Dungy never had a six-game losing streak. Jon Gruden never had one. Raheem Morris now has two.
Some fans moaned and groaned last year because the Bucs were winning but not scoring a “signature win,” defined as one against a good team. They finally got one in New Orleans to close the season 10-6, and then got two more this season. But now the wheels have completely come off the Buccaneers with six straight losses.
Hope has left the building.
A team other than the Bucs even stopped LeGarrette Blount.
Consecutive blowouts at home is simply horrendous. A home blowout to the former bottom-dweller of your division is even worse. Barring a miraculous revival of this Bucs team, there will be major changes coming next season. What those changes are will be determined over the next four weeks.
On the heels of this loss, Joe can’t imagine even the most stout Bucs optimist quibbling with an overhaul of the coaching staff. Raheem Morris needs some fast results to prove he still belongs.
No onsides kick with 6:30 left trailing by 19 points? Joe thought the Bucs wanted to be an aggressive team?
At least we got one hell of a field goal kicker.

LOL
December 4th, 2011 at 5:01 pm
What an embarrasment this team has been to us. They proved this year that they were not the real deal.
Horrible football, horrible talent, horrible coaching, horrible philosophy on how to build a team.
I’m waiting for it to actually be a fun time as a Bucs fan again! This is absolute bul*$*$*.
December 4th, 2011 at 5:03 pm
And I don’t even know what to say about DT’s anymore, they haven’t done anything for us. All that money we spent on them. If I see Price get injured AGAIN, I’m gonna throw my computer out my window!
December 4th, 2011 at 5:03 pm
Are there any Raheem supporters after today’s game?
If so, you’re a complete moron.
December 4th, 2011 at 5:07 pm
Wow…
December 4th, 2011 at 5:09 pm
Let’s all watch Tebow bring his team back.
December 4th, 2011 at 5:09 pm
As an optomistic fan, I am waving the white flag, I give into the dark side. Time to blow the entire coaching staff. Today you saw what happens when a team quits.
December 4th, 2011 at 5:10 pm
that is blow up the entire coaching staff, sorry.
December 4th, 2011 at 5:11 pm
Thank goodness this game was blacked out – no one deserves to watch this crap
December 4th, 2011 at 5:11 pm
embarassing just embarassing.
December 4th, 2011 at 5:12 pm
@Mr. Lucky
I actually wished the Tampa people would’ve watched it, because maybe there’d be more pressure on the Glazers to make some changes!! More people would see how horrible this team is!
December 4th, 2011 at 5:14 pm
WTH was that? I know Cam Newton is good but the Panthers suck. We have now given up big plays on gimmick plays 2 weeks in a row. The Bucs look like a damn 1A division high school team out there getting whipped that bad consistently. Why do they run the end a round? It NEVER works for them. They gave up on the run AGAIN. There was absolutely NO discipline out there on that field today. They should have released Lumpkin to open up the slot for Carpenter, not the defender they let go. If Raheem wants a young team to bring up in the league and be a contender if not a champion one day he needs to learn how to coach them. I give Gruden more credit for the Super Bowl season than I do Raheem in his efforts in these 3 seasons. Do something with the coaching staff, I don’t think it’s the players for the most part.
December 4th, 2011 at 5:16 pm
My official vote is to let Raheem’s contract go unrenewed and hire lane kiffen and dad to be hc and dc.
December 4th, 2011 at 5:17 pm
I was embarrassed to follow this game online. I mean what was I thinking? What a waste of an afternoon. If Raheem keeps his job now it can only point to a financial decision again. The Glasers have built this monster and now they either need to tear it down or sell the team. They will probably do neither and force us to suffer another season of this garbage.
December 4th, 2011 at 5:19 pm
im so depressed i cant even muster the energy to blast raheem.
its the late 80s early 90s all over again.
sad. just plain ole sad.
December 4th, 2011 at 5:20 pm
Hey Glazers if you think keeping Raheem is the answer just member this:
Denver was crap last year and this year they’re tied for first in their division. What’s the difference?
NEW HEAD COACH
NEW QUARTERBACK
You’ve only gotta do the coaching change for 2012
December 4th, 2011 at 5:21 pm
With the uniforms today it was flashback to the Sam Wyche days – did Culverhouse rise from the dead?
December 4th, 2011 at 5:23 pm
we’ll its off to London for the Glazers and they are taking the bucs with them
December 4th, 2011 at 5:25 pm
I can’t endure anymore of this CRAP!! Please Glazers if you really listen to the fans and are in touch with what the fans want, I IMPLORE you bring in here a real head coach with a real coaching staff and quality free agents!! Make this team a contender again, or at least make the effort. This plan of yours IS NOT WORKING!!
December 4th, 2011 at 5:26 pm
“Well we had a shortened offseason”
Oh……well it seems like other teams HANDLED it well!!!?? Yeah of course it hurts the Bucs cause they don’t believe in having any leaders on this team and Raheem is a pathetic excuse for a coach.
December 4th, 2011 at 5:27 pm
Joe didn’t say that, I’m just referring to the load of excuses people make in general
December 4th, 2011 at 5:29 pm
The Panthers had a shortened offeseason with a new head coach and qb – they just embarrassed our completely lost team. Stop using that excuse.
December 4th, 2011 at 5:32 pm
Glad I only listened on the radio as I did other things today…but even if I had not, it would not have been a wasted day.
The time is here to focus on individual player performances…and that’s where you find encouraging things.
Bowers and Clayborn had great games…excited to see them the rest of this season.
Mike williams had over 90 yards…and he made a couple catches that reminded me of last year. It encourages me to think he is just in a minor slump.
Parker was good as well. Still mis Spurlock on returns.
Freeman’s injury might be more serious than we’re being told. Johnson was okay…but a boring performance. Good decisions though.
December 4th, 2011 at 5:33 pm
Beaten by the Panthers is pathetic. I understand the concept of building with the draft. Why doesn’t ownership consider building a coaching staff. This group of losers has set back the development of a young team by a couple of years! While I hang up my Bucs shirt for the remainder of the year, please get rid of these poor examples of a ‘coaching staff’.
December 4th, 2011 at 5:38 pm
The other teams are not as young either. It had to affect these players.
I still belive is Raheem as a head coach, Snook, so call me a moron. I do NOT believe in him as a defensive coordinator, as I have been saying all along, even during the wins.
They are still my Bucs and I love them!
Price was thrown out of the game, btw.
December 4th, 2011 at 5:39 pm
It’s just sad! Raheem and staff need to go… It’s time for an overhaul! The one bright spot today was Bowers, he was the only reason I kept watching.
December 4th, 2011 at 5:45 pm
@Pete Dutcher
The Panthers are young. Rookie HC and a rookie QB. Look how great their offense is!! 3rd year head coach and a 3 yr QB for us=garbage performance. The Packers are very young too….they’re 11-0.
Look how well Andy Dalton (another rookie QB) is playing up in Cincinnati.
Sick of the excuses!! Do you really want to risk wasting another season with Raheem next year?!?!! And this pathetic “rebuild” plan put together by the Glazers and Dom.
December 4th, 2011 at 5:45 pm
Raheem… 3-13, 10-6, 4-8 with a 6 game losing streak
17-27 over three years…
That’s why the stands are empty
The way they are playing, they will finish 4-12
That will be 17-31 over 3 years and a 10 game losing streak
December 4th, 2011 at 5:47 pm
I enjoy watching them play like they are playing in the creamsicles much more. It gives me a deep sense of nostalgia. It’s like I’m watching a lesser Steve DeBerg with a Ray Perkins offense. Keep em for the duration.
December 4th, 2011 at 5:53 pm
Sure lets just scrap the whole Coaching staff and the GM,, and start over again…. I agree we stink but that never stopped me from being a fan, I have been a fan since 1976 and I have seen this play out for us time and time again, get new staff and same results… 80’s 90’s come instantly to mind, to the time coach Dungy came aboard. (who brought in a little used Defense few teams understood) now called Tampa 2
Okay who do we bring in to be the Coach? And is that with a new GM or do we keep Dom?
I don’t know what it is but we keep getting our asses handed to us, our Defense sucks & Offense sucks! Hey how about we cut them all and bring a new DL all FA’s and new LB S CB core as well. Same with the Oline and the TE WR RB (excluding 27)
This will make all of the we don’t spend $ on our team crowd happy! I bet we would be close to the leaders in salary in the NFL then, maybe even top 3! But what happens when we still do not win? (don’t want to say we might actually lose with a new Coach & or GM)
What do we do then?
Start over? When does it stop??
I don’t know either but I have been a Fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win or lose…. I would like to see us grow our team like other teams do and become a yearly fixture in the playoffs and SB, i am not seeing it happen.
December 4th, 2011 at 5:56 pm
Don’t apologize TROX, After the Bucs game I didn’t think I had any more laffs left…..then I read your post. You win the Post-of-the Day Award. lol.
December 4th, 2011 at 5:59 pm
@Patrick
Panthers have a rookie QB who is very much Vick-like, and with little tape on him. He won’t do nearly as well in his second year once teams have him figured out.
If anything, the fact that Price was thrown out of the game by Morris is a sign that Raheem is losing his players.
Yes, the team is struggling, but high emotions don’t remove reasons for the problems…and they do not invalidate them.
Anyone that thinks Dominick is bad is insane. These players are not bad, not all of them. The defense was expected to struggle this year. The OFFENSE has less excuse. Freeman is stll good in my opinion…but the OC is not keeping the rest of the offense on the ball.
Many of Freeman’s picks are the fault of the WRs.
This was Johnson’s audition for a starting spot on another team…and he played it so safe he was unremarkable. He won’t be getting a big contract anytime soon, certainly.
December 4th, 2011 at 6:05 pm
@RustyRhino
Well said.
Look’s like we might have the 3rd pick in the next draft. I hate to say it, but we might actually need a DT in the first round again. Ours are injury prone.
I wish Monty would come back.
I like Raheem, and I think he’s got it in him to be a good HC…but clearly he needs a true DC.
December 4th, 2011 at 6:10 pm
We should’ve just kept Gruden and still made Dominick the GM. Despite how mad I am at Dom, he’s the reason for our little success and talent that we have. Not Raheem.
December 4th, 2011 at 6:16 pm
I’m a Rah supporter (moron), but it’s apparent he does not have the locker room anymore. Bowers, Clayborne, Barth, and Koening played hard. Mike W looking like he’s rounding into form. Young players w/o an offseason = Fail.
I feel bad for the HC, but he’s probably gonna get his papers
December 4th, 2011 at 6:25 pm
I like Dom… Raheem has to go. This team needs a leader who demands excellence and despect! You can see this is not a well coached Team, just look at any winning team in the NFL, they are disciplined and ready to play football games in and game out. The Bucs do not even slightly resemble those teams.
They fired Father Dungy for his inability to beat the Eagles in the PLAYOFFS and they fired Gruden for failing to make the playoffs aftere a 9-3 start. Raheem is 17-27 in three years, has two 6 game losing streaks, and has lost his ability to lead this team. The expirament failed. Fire rah and hire a real head coach! Show the fans that you (Team Glazer) are committed to this team. That’s all the fans want!
I have been a Bucs Fan since birth in 1982, there’s nothing better to me than watching them play and compete! I can handle losing if the effort is there, but I can’t handle the blowouts or ineptitude.
Go bucs…
December 4th, 2011 at 7:42 pm
This TEAM is building nothing at this point; we are only seeing good individual performances and growth.
Raheem must go this year to prevent further damage to this (in my opinion) mentally fragile group. The Glaziers and Dom also need more time to figure out what their options are do it quickly.
The jury is still out on the Glazier’s intention and will to make a big change, but they have done it in the past…
I believe there is a lot of talent on this team, but it will take a qualified HC and staff to maximize and hone the talent properly.
The Bucs could also really use some remodeling and depth in the following order: CB, OLB, OLB, RB, SS, WR, QB, G, MLB, C, DT, MLB.
One can always dream…
