Was The Final-Play Fail Poor Coaching?
November 27th, 2011Joe’s not sure what the heck was happening on Josh Freeman’s late fumble on fourth-and-inches on the Titans’ 30 yard line.
Wasn’t somebody in his ear immediately and calmly telling him to run a sneak up the gut and then spike the ball on first down on the next play? Shouldn’t that have been the play for anything fourth-and-short late before even the third-down snap?
To be fair, Mike Williams said on the Bucs radio network following the game the team was begging the officials for a measurement but the referees refused.
Freeman clearly looked surprised and obviously rushed, which helped lead to the bungled snap.
Game over.
These kinds of scenarios — forgetting about whether the Bucs could have challenged the spot or demanded a measurement — should be drilled in practice and Freeman and his linemates should have been ready.
The dust hasn’t settled on that play, but it sure seems like the Bucs weren’t being led from the sidelines with the game on the line.

and why spike the ball on 1st down on the 30 with 1:30 left and waste a down
November 27th, 2011 at 5:25 pm
you would really need to ask
November 27th, 2011 at 5:25 pm
Surely we are losing on purpose to better our draft position.

any coach has the right to ask for a measurement raheem is a dingleberry
November 27th, 2011 at 5:29 pm
Forget that.
Why didn’t Morris just request a measurement on a mark that was so close like any decent coach would?
That way we know exactly how much yardage we need to get and the play can be called/run calmly rather than in the flustered state it was which lead to the botched attempt.

Not good at all. Looked like the guys had no idea what to do and rushed the only small chance they had at the end.
But as has already been typed, it was the “drive” earlier when the Buccaneers completely fell apart, again, that finished any hopes for this season.
At least there’s an off-season to think about this winter………….yech.

Why didn’t Coach Rah ask for a measurement?
BECAUSE HE’S NOT A REAL HEAD COACH PEOPLE.
But don’t worry he won’t make that mistake again….. sigh

WHO is Mike Munchak anyway, anyone know ?
November 27th, 2011 at 5:44 pm
when we spiked the ball on first down i said right there that will cost us the ball game, we had plenty of time to get on the ball and call a play, but on that drive we gave away two first down plays for absolutely no reason. RAH doesn’t coach the offense i put this loss on olson, AND FREEMAN looked like a three year old boy out there

Munchak wasn’t just All Pro, the guy is a Hall of Fame OG.
