Raheem Unfazed By “Clowns”
November 18th, 2011On Wednesday, Joe brought word that former NFL personnel executive turned NFL.com writer and NFL Network talking head Mike Lombardi skewered the Bucs and Raheem Morris on the league website.
Per St. Pete Times scribe Rick Stroud, Raheem indirectly fired a shot back at Lombardi this afternoon before media at One Buc Palace.
Raheem explains that ignorant clowns don’t upset him.
“Here’s the deal,” Morris said. “When we were young kids, right? I went to school, I was 6 years old, 7 years old. And this guy saw my grandmother and said my grandmother ran like a bulldog. And I beat the heck out of him. I beat the heck out of him. I went home and my mom was so disappointed that I beat the heck out of him. She said, “Don’t worry. It doesn’t matter what people say about you. It doesn’t matter what people say about your family.’ So I learned that lesson a long time ago not to get upset with clowns that don’t really know what they’re talking about that have something to say. So we’ve moved on. I learned that lesson. I don’t have to react to that kind of stuff.”
Joe finds this awfully amusing.

Haha Thomas, be happy that somebody that’s actually successful in life recognized you and called you out. ZING, gotta love Raheem.

I don’t think Raheem understands…Lombardi wasn’t attacking his family (i.e. his players), he was attacking Raheem himself. He actually said this team has a young talented roster and an impressive quarterback. What he was saying is that the coaching is amateurish and woefully inadequate, and that it was evident all the way back to the preseason in the Patriots game. I completely agree with Lombardi.

Just goes to show you how quick a fan base can jump ship, abandon hope and say “FIRE EVERYBODY THIS TEAM SUCKS” especially ours. Last year Rah was the coach of the year candidate and this awesome fantastic excentric character who lead his men into battle and had them buying into his ideas and was the next Mike Tomlin so to say.
This year? Everybody hates him, he’s unprepared, says too many cliches and has a lot of excuses.

My favorite part of the Lombardi article, because it’s so accurate even up to the most recent game:
“They looked bad, they looked flat and they had no attention to detail. It appeared that the players thought excellence came without working hard. Coach Raheem Morris apologized for their play. I wrote about this effort, suggesting then that Morris needed to take control, work his team harder, and make them strive for excellence. Naturally, I was accused of overreacting to a preseason game. The popular theory was the Bucs had it, and all they had to do was turn it on. Yeah, right.”

It always infuriated me beyond belief when someone said my Grandmother ran like a Bulldog. No other criticism could ever match it.
Who reported the beating? The Grandmother? Why was she running anyhow?
This guy is priceless.

“Joe finds this awfully amusing.”
What, that Raheem actually could beat up another kid or that his grandmother could run, let alone on all fours?
November 18th, 2011 at 4:30 pm
Another huh? What does that have to do with embarrassed by the Texans? I wish the lessons he should have learned were football related, to bad they werent.
I have said many times, rah seems like a nice young man, i am sure that he was raised well, he just doesnt know how to head coach. Dont believe me, tune in sunday
November 18th, 2011 at 4:32 pm
Just for the record, when I said that to raheem, I was just joking….and he didnt beat me up….it was a tie.
November 18th, 2011 at 4:40 pm
I frickin can’t stand these talking heads that are out of jobs themselves cause they sucked at it! Micheal Lombardi is the Biggest Ass Clown of the bunch! He still harbors distaste for TB due to the spanking the Bucs put on the Raiders in SB37. He has such a pompous-better-than-thou attitude with no cred to back it up. It makes me want to throw my remote through the TV whenever the mans network has him on. Go Raheem – kick his wrinkled old a$$$!
November 18th, 2011 at 4:43 pm
did Rah say that the texans ran like a pitbull so they beat the heck out of the bucs??? is that the point of the story?
November 18th, 2011 at 4:44 pm
BTW clowns are scary, especially ones like the picture! Is that “B J” the Clown or what?
November 18th, 2011 at 4:51 pm
If we can get the Packers to say something disparaging about his Grandmother’s running style he might just unleash the clan of youngries and win the game.
November 18th, 2011 at 4:55 pm
People would like Raheem more if we would yell at the slackers on the Bucs like this during the game on the sidelines.
Atleast #58 tries .. He just doesnt have the instincts

Raheem looks good in clown makeup, glad he found a new career, lucky for him Gibsonton is just down the road, I’m sure they will be hiring after this season is over.

LOl raheem’a hilarous. Maybe we might of just found out the secret weapon to us winning this weekend get aaron rodgers to call raheem’s grandmother a bulldog. Then rodgers is gonna get carried out in a gurne. But really though bucs are gonna beat the packers this week 28-25.
November 18th, 2011 at 6:49 pm
If he ignored it he would not respond . I think lombardi hit a nerve cause it is true like a 99.9% pregnancy test
November 18th, 2011 at 7:17 pm
Raheem should concentrate on cracking the whip instead of making excuses for his team. Unless there is a miraculous turnaround (highly doubtful) this season, all players and coaches need to be re-evaluated so the “growing pains” don’t continue to fester. I think the gist of the article seems to have escaped Raheem. Excuses, excuses and chest bumps do not equal accountability.

I swear, if I ever decide to write a horror novel, it will feature a clown in some way. I can’t believe how many people have phobias of clowns.
Personally, I think Steven King’s “It” is the reason.
Of course, I don’t write horror, but still.
November 18th, 2011 at 7:49 pm
He HAS cracked the whip. He benched Hayes for 2 games, he worked the team like dogs last week and this week he made them practice with pads for two days…and that itself was a sacrifice because he can only work them in pads 11 days total.
November 18th, 2011 at 8:25 pm
Mikeck – hilarious! Rah’s grandma and the bulldog completely explain why rah ignores critics.
I bet the bulldog’s grandson was even more pissed!
November 18th, 2011 at 8:29 pm
Pete, he has cracked a whip:
You would too if someone went to the shocking extreme of insulting your grandmother by saying she ran like a bulldog.
Hell I had a bulldog that was fast, little too much slobber, but nice get off, good burst and strong finish.
November 18th, 2011 at 9:53 pm
It takes one to know one!!! Morris is a F%%KING CLOWN
November 18th, 2011 at 10:16 pm
Someone told Michael Vick his Grandmother ran like a Bulldog.
Michael Vick hugged him, and said “Great, let’s see if she can fight like one too”
November 18th, 2011 at 11:30 pm

@Oar: “What, that Raheem actually could beat up another kid or that his grandmother could run, let alone on all fours?”
LMAO and almost pi..ed myself. Too funny.
And @K2 “Last year Rah was the coach of the year candidate and this awesome fantastic excentric character who lead his men into battle and had them buying into his ideas and was the next Mike Tomlin so to say.
This year? Everybody hates him, he’s unprepared, says too many cliches and has a lot of excuses.”
Last year is the same as this year, only you had Freeman pulling out 7-8 wins last year with fourth-quarter comebacks last year. Like they say, you can put make-up on a Bulldog, but ….
November 19th, 2011 at 1:19 am
Last year.
November 19th, 2011 at 8:18 am
Rah may have opportunity to work for the Humane Society or AARP after this season.
November 19th, 2011 at 1:29 pm
Don’t bring in the clowns….they’re already here!
November 19th, 2011 at 10:33 pm
Only thing that has changed about this story is that now after people make fun of rah , they kick HIS ass.
