Concern McCoy Won’t Be Ready For 2012
November 15th, 2011Reports from various national media say Albert Haynesworth’s 2012 contract is for $7 million.
One might assume the Bucs would have no interest in that kind of salary for a backup defensive tackle, but it seems Haynesworth may be having a legitimate audition for a 2012 starting role in place of injured Gerald McCoy.
Per a Q & A on TBO.com, Bucs beat writer Woody Cummings reveals that the powers that be at One Buc Palace aren’t yet counting on McCoy being ready for next season’s opening kickoff.
Q: I like the Bucs’ move for Albert Haynesworth but after this year, McCoy will be back. Does the team just plan on using albert for this season and then just dumping him next season or do they have plans on keeping him for the long term? I still feel that he can be the same player that he was as a Titan, and he is a better player than Roy Miller, who has been invisible for most of his career.
A: I think the decision to pick up Haynesworth was done in part because there is concern inside the organization that McCoy won’t be back for the start of the season next year. His injury takes anywhere from six months to a year to recover from. He recovered from the same injury in six months last year, but that may not be the case this time. …

Frankly, Joe hadn’t even considered that McCoy wouldn’t be healthy and ready to go come training camp for next season. Joe knows many fans already use the “bust” word for McCoy. Joe’s not there yet, but if McCoy can’t start 2012 on the field, Joe’s not sure how to avoid giving him the label.

Haynesworth looked pretty solid in his 1st game replacing McBust , now we just need to find a replacement for the forever hobbling fat turd called Blubber Price.
That 2010 draft of Dummynik is turning out to make Bruce Allen look like a drafting Guru…

Joe here,
@Blubber Price — Yes, Joe still considers Price a warrior, and he’s been an exceptional contributor considering he’s only at 75 percent or so. Nobody paying attention would say otherwise.
November 15th, 2011 at 10:53 am
They need to find a replacement for Quincy Black. Where is Dakota Watson? I know he is a little inconsistent, but I think he has the tools to be a strong player..
November 15th, 2011 at 10:58 am
I agree on Price. AH is twice the player and much more physically reliable.
You have to bank on Price and Albert, hope that Mccoy is able for spot duty in October. McCoy physically will never hold up for a NFL season as a starter. He has 4 significant injuries in 16 games,

i am so tired of mccoy and he has only been here a couple years. We need some nasty in there, and he certainly is the opposite, a nice guy.
November 15th, 2011 at 11:05 am
amazing how some fools gold can help sometimes.
November 15th, 2011 at 11:16 am
Let’s face it McCoy is a bust who tackles with his arms, resulting in Injury.
November 15th, 2011 at 11:19 am
I just dont understand how all of the above are not GMs in the NFL, THere views and opinions of NFL talent are Spot on and Elite.
November 15th, 2011 at 11:20 am
By the way … How many Sacks do the Bucs have as a team with McCoy in ?? How many Sacks do the Bucs have as a team without him ??
Check that out and get back with me
November 15th, 2011 at 11:25 am
Hey Joe, why haven’t you posted about the players only meeting that must have taken place over the last week or so? Surely one of the “leaders” of this team has taken his teammates aside and blasted them for their effort and lack of physicality, but for some reason you haven’t posted on it yet. What gives?
November 15th, 2011 at 11:34 am
What is the bucs record and how did the defense perform vs the Saints with McCoy and without him over the last 4 meetings?
Research that issue and get back to me.
November 15th, 2011 at 11:34 am
Man, again, so many idiot fans.
Do we remember how McCoy tore the same muscle in his other arm later in the season last year and was still ready for the start of the season, without any help from the Bucs trainers?
McCoy is our starting UT next year, period. His play, when healthy, justifies it and his contract will demand it.
The only question is will Haynesworth play well enough in the next 7 games to justify adding him to the rotation next year, as a player who would only play 25-30 snaps a game or if McCoy got hurt again.
November 15th, 2011 at 11:41 am
JOe here,
@Creamsicle — Joe doesn’t find much interest in players-only meetings. What the hell does that really mean? These guys are together all the time in small groups, position groups, large groups, etc. Hell, they might have one of these meetings every week. Media only has limited access to players. For Joe, it really doesn’t mean much if a few captains led a chat session. That should be going on constantly on “yungry” team anyway.
November 15th, 2011 at 11:44 am
Bad news. I want Haynesworth gone as quickly as possible.
November 15th, 2011 at 12:02 pm
You’re absolutely right…..it should
On this team though, I don’t think it does
November 15th, 2011 at 12:05 pm
If we continue to build through the draft. Dom and Rah better do a better job of evaluating talent. Green Bay has built there team through the draft with lower draft picks and look at the difference.
November 15th, 2011 at 12:07 pm
It’s a torn muscle. Soft tissue heals far faster than ligaments and tendons. It’s a 6-9 month injury at most… and even at 9 months the guy will be ready for full contact arm tackling in August. It doesn’t matter anyways, by that time he may be playing as a 5-tech in a 3-4 under a new coach. This is a horrible team right now. Last year, they overachieved based on their talent and youth, this year they have grossly underachieved based on their defensive talents. Offensively, the only thing that stands out more than the lack of vertical threats at WR and an elusive speed 3rd down RB (Sproles was available), is the horrible playcalling by Olson.

Joe , we’ve seen how much you’ve “paid attention” over the last few years. Your commentary is an epic joke it’s so often wrong.
“Warriors” don’t allow themselves to get 50 pounds overweight , injury or not.
“Warrior” NT don’t allow teams to run the ball at will right over his gap repeatedly , 100% or not.
“Warriors” tend to eventually overcome injuries and actually play like “warriors”
The fact is you are invested in defending Price , regardless of results, because you were stupid enough to name him a pro-bowler after his 1st training camp practice. Another example of your stellar commentary…
Last time you claimed people weren’t “paying attention” is when you claimed our secondary was too talented and deep to have use for a player like Johnathan Joseph. LOL. I think it’s time you started paying attention.
November 15th, 2011 at 12:41 pm
Possibly not being ready for the season?
HOW FRAGILE is this guy? Is McCoy ever going to be there for us?
I want him to return to full strength, but really, how long are we gonna have to wait for McCoy to become the player we expected when we spent a #3 pick on him? I wouldn’t be surprised if Haynesworth became a long term starter here.
And Prices health concerns me too. But at least he’s made plays.
November 15th, 2011 at 1:03 pm
@Blubber Price:
Price couldn’t even move his legs for months….how much of a jackass are you?
You either have to be Thomas under a different name or are Thomas’s boytoy buddy.
Price is doing great considering what he has come back from.
November 15th, 2011 at 1:04 pm
McCoy’s issue seems to be one of two things:
1) strength and conditioning
2) genetic make up
I saw AH reach back grabbing foster with one hand as he ran by, and pull him to the ground. It was the end all be all of arm tackles. Hopefully McCoy can turn into a rotation tackle.
November 15th, 2011 at 1:09 pm
@Blubber Price… Let me take this opportunity to give you this weeks ‘Iconically Ignorant’ award. No..No..take it! You’ve earned it..don’t be shy. I know you must have been picked on as a kid and now you look for targets to ‘get back at’ and Brian Price seems safe huh? He has his hamstrings reattached with screws and he’s just not playing up to your standard of excellence. Understandable. After all, you overcame all the wedgies and pink bellies you got as a child growing up with no discernible ability at sports and you’ve become a compassionate human being with a heart for the underdog. We salute you oh Ignorant one! Thank you for another epic post of inanity.
November 15th, 2011 at 1:13 pm
Price and Haynesworth are studs….blubberprice you could not handle a fraction of what Price went through and he has been one of the best players…dude is a warrior….Gerald McCoy has a ALL PRO MOUTH ..thats it, kinda like the blubbering idiot named blubberprice
November 15th, 2011 at 2:24 pm
wow blubber. epic fail bud.
haters gonna hate.
November 15th, 2011 at 2:45 pm
I’d take Brian price at 40% before I take gmc at 50%. Price does less talking and more hustling on the field but I bet if both were at 100% price would make way more plays.
November 15th, 2011 at 2:52 pm
Really sit and watch a game you’ll see who has it and who doesnt. U want a real topic why did we have success with Williams, benn, stroughter, spurlock…why did we shy away from the formula. U want defense next year we start ahmad black, trade Sean Jones but we’d only get a towel for him. Have cory grimm playing lb like at vt, cut quincy black, resign RUUD after his 1 yr contract, keep geno hayes. And see what’s up with that oh and start Anthony gaitor and trade talib to the dolphins so he can think he’s the nfls best like there other two corners. And I bet we make the playoffs…
November 15th, 2011 at 2:58 pm
And after the season the glazers need to pull there piggy banks out and find some money to pay Matt forte more than the bears will at least u know he can get u good field position a majority of the time…I mean this is ridiculous I know Connor barth is getting weak in the legs because he barely gets to at least kick lol we need to put police k9 dogs of the field at practice and have the wrs practice running from them so they can get there speed up…I bet you’ll see some separation then…
November 15th, 2011 at 5:46 pm
Something isnt right with the guy, how do you tear a bicep two years in a row?
Kinda a rare injury isn’t it?
November 15th, 2011 at 8:53 pm
How long are the kool-aid drinkers going to use Price’s hamstrings as an excuse instead of a liability ??
Price sucks and he’s never going to heal fully , or else he would have by now. What you see is what you get. A fat hobbled softie.
His pathetic play is one of the main reasons we’re so awful against the run .The Bucs know it , and thats why they reached on Haynesworth.
November 15th, 2011 at 11:18 pm
He can’t stay healthy. It looks like its getting worse. He’s getting close to bust status.
November 15th, 2011 at 11:40 pm
Thomas hates Raheem, Blubber hates Price. What the hell is up with you guys? Especially Blubber. Did you hate Price when he swallowed Schaub whole on Sunday? You don’t know the first thing about Price’s injury and just how severe it is. You’re an idiot.
November 16th, 2011 at 8:29 am
Price’s sack was a gift , Gannon even said so on the broadcast. It was a miscommunication of the offensive line. The Gaurd let him go thinking he had help. Price went untouched.
Congrats !! At least we know the fat useless slug can get to the QB when no one blocks him , although he was still almost too late , lol.
November 16th, 2011 at 11:30 am
BUST BUST BUST – And to think we were only ONE pick away from getting Suh. Sigh…
November 16th, 2011 at 3:03 pm
friggan glass doll…seriously Bucs to a bone density test and look at the guys wrists for god’s sake to see if they are thick enough to play in this league…McCoy is weak sauce
