Benn An Afterthought Again

In what was billed as the deepest draft in the history the modern NFL, the Bucs selected Arrellious Benn early in the second round last year.
Benn has proven he’s dangerous. Mark Dominik said two weeks ago the Bucs need to use Benn more. Last week Raheem Morris said he wants Benn more involved. Is anyone getting these messages to Greg Olson? Somebody send Olson two scantily clad cheerleaders each holding a sign — one that reads “Use,” the other “Benn.”
Benn was thrown to twice today and caught both balls. He runs strong after the catch. What the hell’s going on? If he’s not open, then dial up plays that get him the ball. And the not the stupid end-around that never works.
Crosstrain the guy to be a third down back if you have to. Benn’s been a beast on special teams, and Joe suspects he can block and do more with the checkdown than Kregg Lumpkin. (Of course, Joe’s reaching for effect with that one.)
The Bucs offense isn’t good enough to let a talent like Benn go unused repeatedly.
“We were out there playing fast [when the offense was clicking],” Benn said. “We weren’t executing and that is all on us. The saints did everything we have seen. We knew what we were doing, just simply didn’t execute.

Is there even one Offensive identity on this team?
Sure it all starts with Freeman but
Freeman to who?
Blount? No
M Williams? no
Benn? no
Parker and Briscoe? more so this year but still NO.
The ineptitude is the Bucs / Olson’s identity.
And an “end around” to Benn is the signature play

AGREED. Can there ever be a player on this offense that has good back to back seasons? The last player I can think of is Joey Galloway.

agree patrick time for rah give up play calling duties. ANd I though he would never give up on his guys ? He said he would not give up on black so he gives up on Geno

Yea benn 2 targets 2 catches. Well maybe if we could get him the ball a lil more in the 1st half we wouldn’t score only 3 points every game in the first half. Its getting so annoying? What is that end around still doing in the playbook? It has never worked Olson’s never seen it work = why are you still calling it? No three step drops to mwill /benn slants? So they could try and break a tackle while also getting freeman in a rhythm. Every play call is a 5-7 step drop were free has to wait for the routes to form or try and buy time. FIRE OLSON! Im starting it now i don’t care Im tired of this offense not being able to utilize the players it has until the 2nd half.

and remember, this team struggled against the winless Colts a month ago. a team that everyone has been blowing out. that alone shows you we have problems

Once again Whoodini (Olson) found a way to make Benn disappear. Great job JB for noticing. JB do you have Stevie Wonders number, I think he can call the same if not better offensive game. We’re known for a play book so thick that bringing in a veteran RB would be impossible. I prefer to get a play book so thin that we don’t trick our own players.

Maybe by “more involved” the Bucs’ meant Benn’s crucial bone-headed pass interference on a 30 yard gain when the ball wasn’t even going to him??
I think some of you need to come to grips with the fact that maybe Benn just isn’t all that good.

I like the idea of Benn as third-down back, though.
