Winless Rams, A.J. Feeley, Bury Saints

October 30th, 2011

Well, well, well, the almighty Saints were dominated by the hapless St. Louis Rams this afternoon, 31-21. It wasn’t that close. The Saints trailed 24-0 at one point.

Steven Jackson ran up and down the field, 25 carries for 159 yards, and the mighty backup A.J. Feeley — A.J. Feeley — had a solid day as the Rams starter. The Rams even committed a pile of penalties, but still the Saints couldn’t hang with the formerly 0-6 Rams.

The Saints just played their version of the Bucs at Niners.

LeGarrette Blount comes back against New Orleans next week, and the Bucs have won their last two games at the SuperDome and beat the Saints a few weeks ago.

The Saints aren’t world beaters. There’s no reason why the Bucs offensive line can’t get the job done in New Orleans and the whole Bucs team can’t play the first half without their heads in their collective rear ends.

A rested Bucs team has to come out and punch the Saints in the mouth.

Do you think the Saints might have been looking ahead to playing our Bucs?

  2. Patrick Says:

Wow, next week is gonna be a big game! Maybe the biggest of the year. If we beat the Saints, we’ll own the tiebreaker over them for the rest of the year and be two games ahead of them. That’ll put us in even better position when the end of the season comes around and everyone is battling to get in.

  3. Captain Stagger Says:

Punch them in the mouth…….ha ha ha. Don’t you mean get beaten like a punching bag for 45 minutes, then as we are falling to the ground, land some wild crazy haymaker just before the bell rings. Both of us struggling to get up, and if we are lucky we beat them to our feet for the win. The bucs don’t know how to punch anyone in the mouth……

  4. Patrick Says:

    @Captain Stagger

    LeGarrette Blount does! Literally. lol

I can’t wait to play the saints next week. The saints are alot of things one of them is a good team. But theylre also mentally weak. Just as they showed i the playoffs last year and that last game of the season when we beat them like a drum n then got demolished by the saints their not mentally tough. Their all finesse and were going to go to the dome and smoke them next week just like we did two weeks ago. GO BUCS

  6. Skytown Says:

This game’s going to say a lot about the Bucs’ coaching staff. Can’t wait.

  7. rickster Says:

It will say a lot. If the offensive still comes out flat after the bye then I am 100% convinced the problem is In the coaching staff. But we have blount, McCoy, faine, (for whatever that’s worth) all coming back. Plus the saints are looking very vulnerable. We could sweep the saints this season!

  8. macabee Says:

The key to success is to pressure Brees – Make him move. He is a short QB who throws system and timing patterns. When he is pressured and forced to move he can’t see and his timing is thrown off. I would even consider playing Okam more than McCoy because he has had great success at pressuring Brees. In this case pressure is just as important as a sack. And on Offense if we can run the ball half-way decent (see Steven Jackson), their secondary can be had. I don’t why I’m saying this, Heck, we did this already!

  9. srqrr Says:

the division is being gift wrapped if the Bucs can take advantage of it

  10. Architek Says:

Don’t under estimate the Saints. They are going to be pissed from the let down today. The Bucs will need to execute a flawless plan (if at all possible) to win because the Saints are going to come out fast and going to the throat to avoid a collapse. I pick the Bucs but betting money says the veteran more explosive team wins. I say go Bucs and fix the 3.5 quarters of slop Raheem!

  11. KD Says:

The Saints go into their shell when you play smashmouth football against them. They are not a physical team. If you can run the football, control the clock, and put pressure on Brees you have the game. Don’t get cute Olson – the play sequence should be Blount left, Blount right, Blount middle (feel free to mix those up in whatever order you like).

  12. Tom Says:

Since when did Johnny Damon start playing for the Rams? I guess when you start 0-6 anything is worth a shot 😉

  13. flmike Says:

The Rams just followed our game plan, pressure right up the middle and from the left DE (all their RT’s are worse than Trueblood) and then just run the ball right at the Saint D. Last game that was Okam and Bennett, this game that means lots of GMC and Bennett in the Saints backfield. To whomever said to play more Okam over GMC, no just rotate alot, keep all 4 interior linemen fresh all game, GMC,Price,Miller & Okam need to be active and rolling through out the game, I said this last week, The Saint’s aren’t that good, they beat up on the Colts for god sakes, after they had two games worth of film on Painter, we had Purdue and Preseason snap film of the guy. The Saints are having trouble running the ball, Ingram is hurt, Ivory doesn’t have his football legs yet, Thomas looks like something is wrong with him, but Sproles is dangerous and needs to be contained, which is possible by taking away the passing game with pressure in Brees’ face, their run game is suspect. I watched the whole game today and with all the pressure in his face Brees made at least 4 bad decisions in the first qtr alone, I saw Sproles open for checkdowns at least 4 times and Brees tried to go downfield instead and missed on all 4. We have to stay patient and not commit stupid penalties on offense and play our D, being physical and bring pressure.

  14. flmike Says:

@KD you are correct, they want a shoot out, because they can’t out physical us, or anyone else for that matter. Rah has to make this a grind, as Parcel’s used to say, shorten the game. Run it down their throats and control the clock.

  15. Joke Says:

Big big big game next week. Saints are the better team, but no reason the Bucs can’t win.

They key for the Rams was the same as the Bucs — pressure on Brees _without_ resorting to blitzes. We got pressure on him two weeks ago; I like our odds of turning some of those pressures into sacks with GMC back next Sunday.

  16. Bucbeliever Says:

All I know is I’m glad we don’t have to face Feeley’s fury this year!

    That’s a huge relief…

  17. SteveK Says:

Is Chad Spann going to be active for the game?

  18. flmike Says:

    @SteveK
probably not, looks like its LGB,Madu & Lumpkin.

  19. Joe Says:

    SteveK:

Is Chad Spann going to be active for the game?

Will find out roughly 90 minutes before kickoff.

  20. sensiblebuc Says:

Every time I see this kid Spann’s name get mentioned on JBF I roll my eyes…so I finally searched him on YouTube:

    Dude is explosive.

    Saints Schedule

Week 6 BIG loss to the Bucs

Week 7 HUGE win vs the Colts

Week 8 BIG loss vs the Rams

I got a feeling the Saints are gonna be ready to play next week. It will definitely be a tough game for the Bucs. One the Bucs could/should win, but I’d be lying if i said I wasn’t nervous….

  22. Captain Stagger Says:

What did Payton and Brees do after their last loss……Ohhh that’s right…..

  23. macabee Says:

SteveK, Chad Spann is ineligible to play as he is still on the practice squad. For him to play Sunday, he must be put on the 53 man active roster, another player must be cut. Then he must be activated to play as only 48 players can dress. Mossis Madu is now on the active roster, he can play.

  24. Meh Says:

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. (deep breath) Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Let’s add to their misery this week.

  25. stimpy Says:

    This feels like a trap….

  26. Bucbeliever Says:

What’d the Bucs do after their last loss (49ers)?
