Bucs Will Have To Win Division On The Road

October 26th, 2011

While this is no surprise to serious Bucs fans, the reality of the situation smacked Joe in the face yesterday. The Bucs have six of their final nine games on the road.

That means the good guys will have it extra tough to get to the postseason promised land.

However, the Bucs can still get to 10 wins by winning their final three home gamesĀ (Houston, Dallas and Carolina) and winning on the road in Jacksonville, Carolina and Tennessee.

In other words, the Bucs can win 10 games again this year without needing anything miraculous.

Imagine if the Bucs won 10 and missed the playoffs again, surely that would be some sort of bizarre new NFL record.

The cynics view is only having to contend with 3 more blackouts!

Joe in reality the Bucs have 7 of their final 10 games on the road .. Not only that, but they will most definitely need to win the Division to get into the playoffs.

    COntenders as of now

NFC WEST – 49ers – Low potential Wild Card
NFC EAST – Giants – Cowboys Potential Wild Card
NFC NORTH – Packers – Bears and Lions Potential Wild card (Both have tie breakers over Bucs)
NFC SOUTH – Saints – Falcons potential Wild Card

Losing the tie-breakers to the Lions and Bears may haunt the Bucs, specifically the Lions much like last season.

Yeah, I’ve been worried about this aspect of the schedule all season. We’ve had 5 at “home” (including London) and 2 on the road through 7 games. The fact that we’re only 4-3 concerns me.

We’ll be at 6 at home and 3 on the road after the Texans game. Really feels like we need to be 6-3 at that point, which of course will entail going into New Orleans and winning next week.

But hey, anything’s possible. Just because three of our final four games will be on the road doesn’t mean we can’t win them all.

Jvato, it’s way too early to say we “most definitely need to to win the Division to get into the playoffs”. The Lions and Bears still have another game against each other, and collectively have 3 games left against the Packers. Anything can happen.

    @Joke/Jvato
The Lions are either coming or are already back to earth after their furious start. The Bears are the Bears, they go as Cutler goes (sound familiar). My concern is Carolina, that is the one team in our division that bothers me when it comes to game planning, I know we were able to contain Vick while he was in Atl, but Newton is a totally different player, bigger, faster, stronger and has the one thing Vick still lacks, accuracy. We can win a WC spot, I have no doubt about that, it ain’t gonna be easy and it ain’t gonna be pretty, but then again, when do the Bucs do anything easy or pretty.

Playoffs? You kidding me? I just hope we can win a game..

  6. Mauha Deeb Says:

@flmike We also had Derrick Brooks then. He would spy Vick all day and prohibit him from hurting us too bad.

Newton seems more of a passer anyways. He is starring down receivers like crazy. The second half of this season and all of next year will be a really tough year for him.

No film and the lockout seems to have helped new QBs(Newton, Stafford(because of little film), Dalton)the top tier,(Rodgers, Brees, Brady) and the solid QBs(Roethlisburger, Schaub, Manning). It has been hard for the young QBs with plenty of film on them(Freeman, Ryan, Bradford).

I mean, the league is all messed up. There are more fumbles and INTs than lest year. Penalties are high for all teams. Already 11 QBs with double digit TDs. Just an all out weird year. That is what we get with lockouts.

Next year will look different. I just hope we are at the positive side of the difference.

Good to know that I am not the only 1 who sees it this way! I am just hoping that the Bucs do not go on a consecutive losing streak as inconsistent as this team has been!!!
