Chris Harris Not Down On Josh Freeman

Many Bucs fans are up in arms over the Bucs offense in the ugly Bears loss (as ugly as a beating from the outfit in the gutters of Chicago) as well as Josh Freeman’s unthinkable four interceptions.
Well, Chris Harris is giving Freeman props for making plays when he had to.
When Freeman hooked up with Dezmon Briscoe for a touchdown in the second half, it was Harris, the Bears safety, that got roasted and Harris doffed his cap to Freeman for making a sharp play, so he told Brad Briggs of the Chicago Tribune.
“It was a great throw and a great catch,” Harris said. “That is a little dead spot in Cover-2, the coverage we play, and (Josh Freeman) found it. He threw a laser in there. Touchdown. Me and Peanut (Tillman) are both responsible for that and it’s a little dead spot, like 15 to 18 yards that’s kind of the hole there.”
Too bad Freeman didn’t expose that Cover-2 more often than forcing throws time and again to Kellen Winslow.
Make the plays that are there, not the plays that aren’t there!

It appears to me that Winslow is part of the problem and not the solution. He doesn’t block for anyone. There was a pass play that he could have helped with a block but instead jumped out of the way so he wouldn’t get touched. I started watching him at that point and my guess is the opposing defense can tell when his number is called. He is anything but a team player.

You guys need to stop listening to King and his hating ways… Winslow has been open many many times and Freeman has not been accurate in finding him and that’s why K2 got on Freeman about, now with that said, Freeman like a good QB would, is “supposed” to be the leader of the offense and shouldn’t allow K2 or any other receiver on his ear to affect his level of play.
There was one reason and one reason only why Freeman is not playing well and is because he’s indecisiveness, he doesn’t scan the field of play effectively, doesn’t look for secondary weapons or when he does he’s late with his throws, he is not stepping into his throws playing like that is not going to get u anywhere.

There is one reason and one reason only why Freeman is not playing well and that is because there are 1st and 2nd year players at key positions all over his team and none of them had an off season. People can down play that fact all they want but even other young teams are not young in as many key positions as we are. There hasnt been a lockout since 1987 so we dont have much to look and compare this to. The bucs out of all the teams in the league needed their off season workouts, we didnt have them so we are learning on the go. I’m actually proud of our team, and I know Josh and his receivers will get better.

Know what the difference was with that play (and some others like it) vs the rest of the game? He had time to throw the ball.

I liked that piece, thank you for posting that- Joe.
Freeman did throw some picks yesterday, but how many guys would even get a throw off in his shoes?
He is excellent at avoiding pressure in the pocket, and not many other QB’s could escape the kind of pressure he is under on a regular basis.
IMO, he is still just learning the game and he needs more from the O Line and the Receivers.
William’s should’ve had that First TD, but he let the DB take it from him. Freeman was just being a good QB and trying to let his guy make a play.
I didn’t see picks 2 and 3, but the last interception wasn’t even close. That was all on Freeman.
Phillip Rivers threw the 4th down ball to end the game out of bounds, bc he didnt know what down he was on, so there you go even the great ones have mistakes.
Go Bucs! Get a good week of rest, and get ready for those TAINTS!

It also goes to show. That a True Tampa 2 Defense is very very effective. It’s all about not letting big plays and having people around for interceptions.

I have no problem blaming Winslow or Williams or Benn or Briscoe or Parker or Olsen or anyone else but until Freeman stops throwing inaccurate passes that aren’t catchable it doesn’t really matter now does it?
I love the guy but he has been throwing passes five yards too shot or five yards too long all season! I don’t care who you are…you aren’t going to catch what he’s throwing!

Right now #5 is looking like a loser! He’s making Mark Sanchez look like an all-pro..how sad is that?!?!
Personally I blame the coaching staff. The kid proved he can play with the big boys last year. If he’s regressing now then its on them!

I thought we had “a top 5 offensive line”. That’s what you guys were telling me when I was complaining about Trueblood’s pass blocking. Now the “line needs to give Freeman more time”?
