Dominik Names The Strongest Buccaneer
October 19th, 2011Watching the latest Sky Sports video on the Buccaneers, it seems the English network is a bit obsessed with the sheer mass of the NFL player.
Filmed during a tour of One Buc Palace, rockstar general manager Mark Dominik is asked by a cameraman to identify the strongest Buccaneer.
“Pound for pound, the strongest Buccaneer? I’d say Brian Price,” Dominik said. “I heard from our weight room coach he came in here and bench pressed 225 pounds over 50 times. It’s incredble.”
The film crew then added reaction from Price.
“I can bench press close to 500 pounds. As a lineman you can pretty much eat anything, but me, right now I’m on like a fish diet. Eat fish, a lot of vegetables, a lot of green stuff,” Price said.
What can one say about Price. More than 50 reps on the bench at 225? Price is only 22. He’ll get stronger. If he can play through the season, Joe can’t imagine a better candidate for comeback player of the year. Maybe he’ll even hit Peter King’s radar one of these days.

That is over twice as many reps as weak-a– baby Gerald. Now I understand why he is equally or more productive on fewer plays at the Nose instead of the 3 technique.
I this kid can stay healthy he will be very, very good in this league. Look for another solid DLineman game from our best two tackle tandem Sunday – I have nicknamed them: “Brokam.”

Hey 2.2: that reminds me of your own nickname, “Brokeback”.

50 reps? I’ll believe it when I see it. Brian was very impressive at the combine last year when he put the bar up in the 30’s… but 50? That’s a whole different animal there. I’m not saying he can’t do it, but to add 20 reps onto his reps of 225 in a year and a half would be extremely impressive.

Thomas, is is also more than double Sapps total, aghain, you must have considered Sapp a bust. You are a fool.

Strong, determined, works hard and plays hurt. What’s NOT to like about Price?
Looking forward to McCoy’s return too, he was really coming on well this season.

50×225 is pretty incredible if this is true, I beleive he did 35 @ the combine a year and a half ago, so thats alot of added strength, but I guess it might be possible…. he is a big SOB

Bench press does not matter… that much anyway. It is all about leverage, use of hands, and quickness. If you add in strength with those things THEN it makes a difference.

“I can bench press close to 500 pounds……..Eat fish, a lot of vegetables, a lot of green stuff,” Price said.
Popeye Price must eat alot of Amberjack and spinach!?

Easy Thomas we know you’re heartbroken. Lil Chucky signed a 5 year extension to keep broadcasting. No one would offer him a coaching job after the “tear down in Tampa!” Gruden pretty much said he was done coaching.
Thomas kept hoping Chucky would ride back into town on a white horse, and finish destroying the team

A lineman at this years combine put up 225 a record 49 times so if Price did 35 two years ago, I can believe that working with the Bucs strength and conditioning coach, he has probably gotten stronger and 50 times seems very possible, IMHO.
I hit the gym on a regular basis and on a good day I can get 225 up about 15 times so if Price is doing 50 he is truly a beast!

It is pretty amazing. I can’t imagine having that kind of injury/surgery and coming out to play 30-4 snaps a game so soon. Dude is an extremely hard worker.

We also have a new C/G, Zane Taylor on the practice squad that did 41 reps @ 225 on his pro day.

If you want to draw the comparison, I’m a pretty fit dude and I work out with heavy weights 4-5 times a week. I bench 225 about 12-13 times.

I noticed this line snuck in there by the SKY sports article about the NFL’s anual game in London…
“even though, in real terms, the annual fixture continues to lose money.”
So someone explain to me again, why the NFL wants to have 2 games over there, and offers incentives teams to give up a game in favor of one abroad?
And don’t tell me it’s marketing, because I guarantee you the NFL has to spend plenty of $$$ on marketing just to ensure attendance is sell-out or near that level for this game annually. Having to market a losing marketing venture just seems like terrible business sense to me.

Football increases in popularity year over in year in the UK – its a long-term strategy and the potential growth of the sport internationally is worth losing money in the short term.

Who is this article about Thomas? Why bring up GMC? Are you that much in love with him that you must talk about him on every single post? Give it up bro, I’m pretty sure he likes the ladies.

Hit and run posting, gotta love it.
I find it ironic when someone who likely cannot lift a 100 lb sack onto his shoulders can call GMC weak.
As to Price…
I thought he was older…at least 24. That’s just incredible. When you consider the youth of this team and that most players don’t fully mature in their gameplay until 25 or so, the Bucs are doing an amazing job.
