Talib Talks T-Jax

October 16th, 2011

The comeback of Tanard Jackson still amazes Joe. What an unreal physical and mental challenge. Joe had a man-to-blogger conversation with Aqib Talib after the Bucs-Saints game to get his take on Jackson’s return.

JoeBucsFan.com: Tanard Jackson’s on the couch and working out himself for a year and comes back and plays well against one of the best offenses in the league and even gets a pick. What does that say to you?

Aqib Talib: Man, he was out, but I assure you he wasn’t on the couch though. He wasn’t just at home on the couch, you know what I’m saying. He held up pretty good. He cramped a little bit at the end. While he was out he worked. He worked hard. And I know because half the offseason I was working with him. So he wasn’t home on the couch.

Joe: Fans might be wondering what’s the value of training camp and preseason when a guy can come back like that and perform at a high level? Does that mean training camp isn’t as valuable as everyone thinks it is?

Talib: No. Everbody their own person. I’m sure he would have been in even better shape if he was in camp. So training camp is important. But everyone is their own person. You know I don’t speak for everybody.

Joe: When you guys were working out through the lockout, what were you doing?

Talib: Just playing football, lifting weights, playing football. That’s what we did. Football drills.

Joe: What sort of difference does Tanard bring back there? No slight on Corey Lynch, but what’s different with Tanard in there?

Talib: They different people. They bring a different mentality to the game. Tanard’s going to come down and he’s going to hit you. He showed that tonight. He’ll come down and hit you. He looked like he never left. He knows all the calls, knows all the run fits. He’s a starter.

LOL wheres all the ppl who said we should drop him.. or he is not in shape, he wont play until after the bye week. This guy is a game changer and he showed why today

  2. Mauha Deeb Says:

Not only am I surprised we won, but I was totally unprepared for Tanard Jackson. He played like he never left. I forgot what it looked like to have great safety play.

  3. thibs5599 Says:

man i hope he can stay away from the bong because he can flat out play, sean jones is pretty good himself thats a nice safety tandem back there, talib is right not only did he get a pic he layed a few hits as well…would be nice if we still had grimm, that would make our safeties that much better

  4. D.P. Boo Says:

    re-sign the man!

  5. FreemanBomb5 Says:

Grimm is depth only. He isn’t in the same league as TJack, everyone just wanted to pretend he was while TJack was gone. Especially some of the racists rednecks in this area. Bash Brothers are back, Talib can’t get in any trouble for hanging out with a suspended teammate can he? I know this site has already been accused of being the snitch once already

  6. Leighroy Says:

Tanard brings the D violence from the safety position that hasn’t been seen since John Lynch. I think his presence makes Talib a better CB too, cuz he can afford to play more aggressively with better safety play over the top.

I hope his issues are behind him, and that he can be a starter here for a while. So glad to have T-Jack back!!

    Joe here,

@Freemanbomb — No. Talib was allowed to hang out with a suspended teammate. Goodell isn’t that ugly.

  8. Espo Says:

    Just sayin:)

    “Espo:

How do you know he isn’t in football shape? Did you give him a physical?

LOL. Given the fact TJax has had one practice in 54 weeks, a no-pads practice, Joe’s going to walk out on a limb and suggest TJax isn’t in football shape.

Working on in a gym in one thing. Working out on a practice field is a far different thing.”

On the other side of the argument, do you know why he went into the locker room? Cramps?

  9. george griffith Says:

hey freemanbomb5,i guess your to ignorant to consider using a stereotype like redneck as being racists.yo TJAX welcome back brutha!

  10. bucswin Says:

What was that about TJ not starting this week?

    Steve White? Shaun King?

  11. Apple Roof Cleaning Says:

Talib and Jackson were hanging out this off season, and Cab Drivers were nervous 🙂

  12. Sambizle Says:

    very nervous

  13. greatness Says:

that in-depth interview should be published in next months Playboy Magazine

  14. Capt.Tim Says:

Amazed. Mr. Jackson, neither I, nor all the Buc Alumni, believed you could walk off the street and play. I was wrong. You not only ayed, but played very well. You improved the defense! What you did today was unprecedented!! I asked my NFL knowledgeable friends, and no one could remember a guy walking off the street and starting after a year away. Just amazing. Welcome back. I hope your problems are behind you, because we are a better team with you. You played great!
I apologize again for doubting you. I won’t doubt you again, and will resume wearing the rare Jackson Buc jersey proudly once more.

  15. Jill Says:

I still clearly remember the back-to-back plays Tanard Jackson made during his rookie season in 2007 against Indianapolis when he laid Dallas Clark flat out and then intercepted Peyton Manning. This guy comes to ball, so I had a feeling he would not disappoint if the coaches played him yesterday. And he did not. I do hope he can stay away from his off field troubles. Love this guy!

“Talib and Jackson were hanging out this off season, and Cab Drivers were nervous :)”

Only problem, they would have been smoking instead of drinking. So he probably gave the cabbie a hug
