Josh Freeman tells a story of Aqib Talib obsessed with improving his hands
Joe’s already harped on the dropped potential interceptions from Aqib Talib, the ones that keep him from the class of elite cornerbacks.
But Talib himself won’t let them go, so said Josh Freeman on The Josh Freeman Show on WDAE-AM 620 Wednesday. Freeman painted a picture of friendly quarterback warmup tossing at Wednesday’s practice that turned into a hands workout for Talib. Freeman, Mike Williams, Josh Johnson and Talib were loosening up when Talib took it up a notch.
“Aqib’s having Josh [Johnson] throw him hard passes, up, all over,” Freeman said. “I’m like, ‘Why don’t you just have him throw it to you?’ He’s like, ‘Man, I gotta work on my hands. I have at least three miss-ops this year. I could easily have four picks.'”
Joe’s glad to hear of Talib’s commitment. Actually, he’s often working with receivers in training camp.
As the headline says, the Bucs rank last in interceptions in the NFC with two picks, a stat that probably has to change Sunday if the Bucs are to pull out a win.

Still pissed how everyone kept saying how great this secondary is.
If you have to pull a druggie off the street, who hasn’t played in over a year, and put him on the field!, then your secondary is in critical condition.
I hope we don’t continue to play that horrible against Brees. San Fran could be a highlight if we do!

Dan, instead- go dig yer head out of the sand. You keep spraying thug love on Aqib, now Tanard. Yet Aqib keeps giving up TDs, dropping interceptions, and dropping on lower and lower down the charts in pass defense!!
Last year, the stats didn’t look to bad. But that’s why stats are for losers!! The reason the secondary didn’t look bad, is because we played a 3-3-5 to protect the secondary. Good CBs don’t have to be protected. What are we ranked in pass defense this year?? Of you knew anything-ANYTHING- about football, you’d know last year’s stays for the secondary weresmoke and mirrors, greater by playing an unbalanced defense, ran to “PROTECT” the secondary. Two years ago, we were getting ripped for long TD’s every game. Last year, Raheem covered up for them, which fooled a few uneducated fans into thinking the secondary didn’t suck.
Well reality check. Despite all the thug love, whinning, and apologizing,- it’s apparent the secondary can’t do the job. They are getting rung up like a pinball machine.
The intelligent Buc Fans knew this already. We had 4-6 talented young CBs available in Free agency, that would have given Ronde the help he needed. But the GM spewed the company line” we only build thru the draft!” and the bobble heads started nodding their approval. We have cut several of this years picks. Biggers, Lewis, and Gaitor aren’t stopping anyone. Jones and lynch aren’t playing bad, but are having to bail out the CBs so often, that they don’t get many plays on the ball.
Keep yer head stuck wherever you’ve stuck it, Dan. Let’s see how impressed Drew Brees is with ” the might, Elite, Talib and Tanard”
Better start thinking of lame ass apologies early this week.

The fact that the offense has left the defense on the field way too long explains most of our problems. There is nothing more damaging to a D than to have the offense go 3 and out on first two or three drives. This leaves the entire defense sucking wind for the rest of the day. until the offense actually produces early in games; the D will continue to tire out.

By the way- our “team Strenght” secondary, with “Elite” Aqib, was 20th in pass defense before the San Fran game. Not really where you expect the great ones to be hiding at!
We should have signed a talented young CB and RB in Free agency. That, and one OLB, and we would be improving every week, Instead of scrambling to find help

Ph, and Tcavier, football experts can usually spell the player in questions name. It’s “Aqib Talib” , not Aquib, or whatever you , in all yet expertise, wrote! Not sure how many TDs “Aquib” has given up. But “Aqib” has given up 5.

Capt. Tim, I know you like to pretend you know tons about football, but your posts about the secondary show me otherwise.
First of all, Talib is a very good corner. Top 10? Probably not. But go ahead and show me a corner that is playing at an elite level this season; Asomugha hasn’t shut anybody down, Champ Bailey was destroyed by a rookie receiver (A.J. Green) and Revis was beaten soundly by Dez Bryant. Notice the trend? Qb’s have been putting up 300 yards weekly, and rookie QB’s like Dalton and Newton has benefited from crappy secondaries all year. Yes, the Bills have a ton of interceptions, I know you’ll throw that one at me. But league wide there are no elite secondaries.
The lockout, for some reason or another, has really hurt defensive players, and more specifically defensive backs. Talib has dropped INT’s, but anytime you see a dropped pick, you have to remember that it was a broken up pass in the first place, and he was obviously playing his position well enough to be in the right place. For example, the dropped pick against Indy, he made a fantastic play reading Painters eyes and knowing he was going to Wayne.
Your ridiculous hate for Talib and Tanard bothers me a lot. It’s not “thug love” it’s recognizing talent and the fact that these guys are capable of being elite at their position. Talib is struggling right now, you’re right. But so are corners league wide.
Basically what I’m saying Capt. Tim, is give it a freaking rest, and remember that this guy is a very good corner and is unfortunately having a tough year, through 5 games.

Capt. Tim- you are aware that Nnmadi Asomugha has played as bad or worse than “Aquib” this year right? The Eagles secondary sucks right now and a large part of that is Nnamdi’s apparent total inability to do anything but shadow recievers in press man coverage. He can’t play zone. He can’t make tackles after the catch and he can’t come up in run support. But yeah we would be better off right now if we had thrown the bank at Nnamdi vs. just keeping a CB who was already under contract with us for this year.
At least “Aquib” isn’t 30 years old and as many balls as he gets his hands one he will start catching a few and they will be game changers.
Also we have an instant cure in T-Jax. T-jax doesn’t drop picks and despite your apparent hatred for anyone who has the gall to smoke weed.(or as you so melodramatically put it “let everyone down”) he will make an impact and get picks. He is a PROVEN ballhawk. And just so you know T-Jax didn’t let you or anyone else down but himself. Its just a game to us fans. The only person he really let down was himself when he hurt his financial status. Stop the sanctimonious b.s. dude.
You are now no better than Thomas 2.2. You don’t hardly ever post on here anymore except to bash your whipping boys Talib and Jackson. You are no better than 2.2 with his hysterical McCoy bashing. Get over it dude. People who thought Talib was elite may have been wrong but you were just as wrong in your in desperation to sign Asomugha.
How about we all just hope that Talib and T-jax stay out of trouble and start taking pick sixes to the house. They’ve done it before and they can do it again. If they disappoint then so be it but your doubting THOMASS routine towards these guys isn’t productive.

K2 the soldier- as I’ve said repeatedly, Talib is a better player than he has played this year. As far As ” every secondary is struggling” . Ah, that would be B.S.over two thirds of the secondaies in the league are doing better than ours, so apparently not every corner is struggling like us. It’s obvious that , for whatever reason, Aqib is struggling. That has Biggers playing as our top corner- a fact that everyone in the entire world is aware of , except about 6 posters on this site- who are apparently blind, and refuse to believe Talib, Coach Morris, or anyone else in the world. All of whom have said that Talib is covering the 2 WRs so far. As I’ve said, and as numerous post this year have pointed out, and as the stats point out – Talib has struggled badly this entire year. The question
I’ve asked repeatedly is why. Nothing out of OneBuc, so who knows
Biggers has played the top receivers, he has done ok.

As I said in the Spring. We needed to add a corner. Now, with Talib struggling, we are last in interceptions, ranked in the 20s in pass defense, and about to face the 2nd ranked passer in the league. Still feeling All warm and Fuzzy
The problem in Philly isnt Nnanadi, or any of the other defensive players. Its Juan Castillo- never a defensive coordinator on any level, until this year. He was the Eagles O-line coach last year!!!
Becklesheart- as Steve White, Derrick Brooks,Shaun King, etc, etc, have pointed out- playing a guy who hasn’t been on the fiield in Over a year, after one weeks practice, isn’t an ” instant Cure”. It’s an act of desperation.
I am Bucs Fan. I hope Talib starts playing better. I hope Biggers improves with Experience. But if we are building a “lasting contender”, WR should have adressed depth at RB and The Secondary. These aren’t problems caused by multiple injuries at the same position. We knew about this in January.

Capt. Tim- an act of desperation is what the Eagles did when they shot their wad at every aged free agent on the market this offseason. Steve White and Shaun King don’t know squat apparently. Players come back from one year absences ALL THE TIME and pick up right where they left off. Even if T-jax doesnt have a great game today he will pick it up within the next couple of weeks. Im tired of people pointing out everything some former player says as if their opinions are any more than that. Why dont you ask the CURRENT players on the team how glad they are to have Jackson back?

Oh, by the way. I’ve noticed you two are trolling the comments, and jumping on anyone who dares critize anything Buc. Frankly, I thank you two are bandwagon fans. If the team loses another game or two, you’ll bolt. That’s what always happens here. I don’t care what either of you think. If you are still here, supporting the team a year from now, then you’ll have earned some credibility. Until then, you’re just a pair of bandwagon trolls. You’ve both been wrong on almost every single issue you’ve jumped on. Stick around. Hopefully you’ll learn that you can love the team, and still point out some issues. Like the Country or your wife- you love it, but realize that it ain’t perfect.

BecklesHeart- NO! Absolutely not! Players do not” miss a year, then come back! Who? Ever? Injured players go thru grueling rehab training, the one on one training, to get back into playing shape. Nobody, EVER, just walks off the street to the field, unless a team is horriblydesperate. we coulda signed another CB, and we won’t be

Capt. Tim- Just eat your crow. Nnamdi is washed up. You seem to be so proud of yourself for knowing about this website for so long. In case you aren’t aware the existence of this site wasn’t common knowledge to the average Bucs fan until they started pimping it on 620. I didn’t know this site existed and always went to Pewter Report for Bucs news. How does that make me a bandwagon fan?
