Former Coaches Didn’t Like Michael Bennett

Who the hell didn’t like Michael Bennett and helped keep him buried on the Bucs’ bench while sackless Kyle Moore was gifted a starting job and others played before him?
Speaking today on The Ron and Ian Show on WDAE-AM 620, Bucs personnel man and former linebacker Shelton Quarles describes the Bucs being divided about Bennettt before this season.
“He’s a fun player to watch. We had a few coaches around in the past that didn’t really care for him very much. So he didn’t see the field as much as we thought he should have from our perspective, a front office perspective,” Quarles said. “But he’s coming on. He’s played well … playing the run really good, rushing the passer when he has the opportunity. He’s big enough to inside, an inside rusher on third down but also be outside as well. He’s playing really well for us.”
Joe’s glad the ship has been righted and the front office won out.

Joe, why the heck do you list Raheem Morris as a possibility? That makes no sense. Quarles clearly said they “had” coaches “in the past” that did this. Are you trying to make something out of nothing here?

@FLBoyInDallas — Uhhh, last Joe checked Raheem was the head coach when Bennett arrived and took over as D-coordinator late in 2009. Pretty safe to say he had a hand in who got on the field.

I highly doubt Raheem didn’t care for Bennett, he wants all his players to succeed. However I’m sure Coach Rah takes the word of his coaches because he believes in what they are doing and makes his decisions based on their observations. Nevertheless I am glad Bennett is on the field now, unlike Sabby the GOAT and Tyrone Mckenzie, he understood that this was a competition and earned the starting job after most of us had already given it to Bowers before the season started.

Those coaches, thankfully, are now evaluating high school freshmen and conducting locker inspections.

The reason Bennett didn’t get more playing time is because he was too much of a lone ranger. He would stay on assignment some of the time and then other times he would just try to make a play on his own and the defensive scheme would break down resulting in a big play for the opposing teams offense. He is playing much more disciplined now and the defensive line coaches have got him in a different approach. He’s always been an animal. He’s just under control now.

Wash was a brutal coach, and I am so glad to see our D-Linemen playing with fire.

To “Joe” and his sycophants:
You took the quote “We HAD a few coaches around IN THE PAST that didn’t really care for him very much” and proposed Raheem Morris as a possibility.
It is a ridiculous and sensational notion which is obviously designed to get people riled up. Don’t put on your transparent act when people call you out on it.
