Geno Hayes Apparently Good To Go
September 30th, 2011It was beginning to disturb Joe that the Bucs were racking up injuries on the defensive side of the ball so early in the season.
First there was Quincy Black’s injury, which may have been a blessing in disguise for the Bucs in that Dekoda Watson stepped in for Black in the second half of the Minnesota win. Coincidence the Bucs best six quarters of defense have been with Watson on the field?
Then there was the scary scene last week when Geno Hayes and Cody Grimm were injured on the same play. Grimm, or course, was placed on injured reserve with a messed up right knee.
Hayes received a concussion and did not return. Because of the NFL’s tough standards dealing with traumatic brain injuries, it was possible that Hayes would have to sit out the Dolts game.
That is apparently not the case, per the Bucs official Twitter feed as it seems that Geno is good to go Monday night.
@TBBuccaneers: LB Geno Hayes passed his concussion tests and has been cleared to play Monday. He practiced Thursday, as did LB Quincy Black (ankle).
Joe would still prefer to see Watson on the field when the game begins Monday night but Joe is sure happy that Hayes will be there. Even if Black has been a disappointment in Joe’s eyes, depth on defense was beginning to be an issue if Hayes couldn’t go.

Geno Hayes is okay in my book. And I love Watson’s play. Now Black… Black has been given a lot more chances than most guys and I don’t know… maybe it’s me but he just doesn’t seem to have that X factor

They are going to play Black and try to let him justify his salary but ultimately he will hang himself. His awareness is what worries me. He is too physical to miss so many tackles. If you go back and look at the Atlanta game see all 11 defenders showing a willingness to tackle or hit he person in front of them. Quincy on the other is a bit unwilling sometimes and now people are on to his play. I hope Raheem is sure about playing him over Watson because it could cost the defense.
Also remember our pass rush improved when we stopped the run so play Black and Ruud sack totals will suffer too.

Sorry my Android sensed me talking about soft linebackers and plugged in Ruud name.

Good news, obviously.
Depth is extremely important in a long season.
Hopefully the Bucs will go after Painter and get some sack and/or INT’s
Monday Night.
Monday Night Football!
How cool is THAT?

They put their chips into Black so I think he definately gets another year after this year, but he needs to step up AND stay healthy.
Hayes needs to step up his consistency.
I think the play and progress of Foster is going to make them say “wow, we need to draft another LB” because I think Foster is raising the bar.

Mason Foster will be on Jim Rome within an hour

Amar I almost bought tickets to this game but I was unsure about Manning and after week 1 showing earning interest in an investment is better than the offense at this time. LOL. Have fun! I will be watching from my sofa…
