Bucs Fighting Peterson’s History

The nerve-wracking truth for Bucs fans, so delivered by Pat Kirwan of NFL Radio and CBS Sports, is that Adrian Peterson averages five yards per carry on his home dome turf.
Surely, the Bucs will be challenged early and often to stop him. Joe’s got plenty of Tums in the medicine cabinet.
Kirwan breaks down the Bucs-Vikings game in this excellent CBSSports.com video seen here. (oddly, no embed codes) Kirwan also floats the possibility that Donovan McNabb could be making his final start, if the Vikings lose to the Bucs. No team had a winning record after starting 0-2 in 2010, and Kirwan thinks a loss to the Bucs will prompt the Vikings to play for the future and start Christian Ponder moving forward.
Joe suspects McNabb will have that as extra motivation.
Kirwan bashed the Bucs playcalling against Detroit and says the good guys will “pound” LeGarrette Blount this week behind Davin Joseph. Joe hopes that’s the case, but Joe sure wouldn’t bet on it. Regardless, Joe thinks the Bucs are the better team after 60 minutes.
Oh, and Kirwan says the Bucs will rebound and win the game.

I agree. I think the Bucs win this one. I think they could help their cause by rotating Hayward and Watson in at OLB frequently( like , every play!). And let’s not try ” pounding Blount in behind Joseph”. Joseph spent most of last Sunday laying on Freeman’s Feet.( before you disagree, watch the game again, focusing on the right side of the line). Better Run Blount to the Left, or rotate our Young lineman( Hardman,Barker, etc) on the right side. The young line looked good last Sunday, Millard and Stretz are getting them on the right page. But Peterson is a great back. You can only hope to contain him. If Black and Hayes continue to avoid tackling Running Backs, it’s gonna wear our safeties out.
Either way, I predict a WIN for the Good guys!

Hmm, the Vikes would bench McNabb week 3 & start their rookie QB with no OTA’s & limited practice reps against the Detroit Lions front 4? Talk about “blinking.” The choice of Farve was Superbowl or bust–well, bust.

Gotta love PK, always pimpin’ the Bucs. McNabb is done, his arm is shot he can’t make the deep throw anymore and he doesn’t move inside the pocket very well anymore. If we keep AP at or around 100 yds rushing and Harvin under 100 yds in rec we should win this game. Jared Allen is a legend in his own mind, since he signed with the Vikes his game has not really improved much since his days in KC and I am actually looking for him to regress without the Williams Wall to eat up linemen. Penn can handle any DE he might need help with the elite ones, but he should be okay with minimal help handling Allen.

Penn has handled Allen several times before. That part I’m comfortable with. It’s our running game I’m worried about.

On nfl total access they showed a clip of McNabb that said he’s playing to win and not for stats. He went on to say something like “I think everyone will see after this next week what I’m all about…” or something like that. Basically saying that he’s gonna move the chains well against the Bucs. Come on Dline! Make him pay!!!
