Freeman Led Benn Past The Blues
September 15th, 2011What a great example here of how intense the young Bucs are and how their maturity is evolving.
And it’s another glimpse of how Josh Freeman leads.
Speaking on The Josh Freeman Show yesterday on WDAE-AM 620, Freeman relayed a story of how hard Arrelious Benn took the Lions’ interception thrown his way.
“Reg kind of got in a little bit of a funk. He’s a guy that takes his performance to heart,” Freeman said. “You know, he’s a great team guy and I felt like he felt he let the team down. The coach wanted to mix in Dezmon Briscoe, give him some plays. Reg wasn’t being punished. I think that he kind of got in a funk and that’s what he felt like.
“When I came back [from getting an IV] he was looking kind of blue on the sideline. I went over and started talking to him. I was like, ‘Dude, what’s wrong?’ He’s like, ‘I don’t know. I’m just kind of out of it.’ I’m like, ‘Well get ready because we’re about to make a run. And we’re going to need everybody …”
Freeman went on to say he quickly told coaches to get Benn in the game and Benn responded with multiple catches. Per Freeman, Benn thanked him after the game.
Impressive leadership by Freeman, though a little odd by Benn. Hopefully, that’s just a growing pain by a young player that is now an experience from which to grow.

Dude, Joe, Bro, sick post. Thank you, sir.

I dont like Free airing this kind of stuff publicly. yes it makes free look good but at the expense of making benn look bad or like player who does not respond to adversity.
What benefit does this have to the team in general? None it is just trying to make Free look good. He is better than that.

How about Josh start leading some throws downfield for a change? I get that he’s a respected leader, but it’d be nice to see him start pushing the ball instead of checking down constantly.
Take more shots — open up the defense.

Forget that, he should have told the coaches to get Blount in the game.

@Number 41, I don’t think the line gave him enough time to look downfield. He was running for his life all day.
BTW, did anyone see how much time Brady’s line gave him on MNF? our guys should be studying their film.

How is it that in every single post Thomas points out, and highlights, the negatives?
Is your life really that sucky? I dropped a few kids off at the porcelain pool this morning and all of them were far more optimistic than you.
Thomas, hear the black birds cry.

Mauha Deeb – lmao

Ah, Thomas is just Thomas. Most of the time , he makes me lmao, it takes a lot of work to find that many negatives , about a team with so many positives! Most of us have a few pet complaints. But Thomas, He can find some bad to say about any item posted. Frankly, it must be exhausting! Lol

Too bad it didnt correlate in many catches for #17…just sayin.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:16 pm
At least Thomas didn’t manage a way to mention McCoy!
September 15th, 2011 at 3:10 pm
Too bad there was no one there to motivate or get on Freeman @ss for his horrible play.
September 15th, 2011 at 3:15 pm
The optimist:
Sounds good all around.
Freeman showing the in-game sideline leadership necessary.
Benn showing his desire to forget last year and expect more from himself by coming out strong.
The pessimist:
Get your head out of your assss Benn

I remember watching that after the play and Josh went up and kinded
gave Benn a little earful for not coming back to at least break up the interception. So I think Josh probably felt part of Benns funk was his own doing or at least thats how I see it. Either way a good move by Josh. In the heat of the moment I don’t mind Josh chewing out his guys if there head is not in the game but at the same time don’t crush their confidence because we need every guy just like Josh said. Good job Josh good job….

Benn was doing great, his season got cut short when he blew his knee out.
He works his tail off all summer to be ready for game one( an impressive achievment), just to see us get blown out, and to that point he had no catches. Of course he’s a lil down. Is that how you’d like your Comeback to begin???
Some of you need to get your heads outta yer as%es! There was nothing at all bad or unusual about the kid being down.
September 15th, 2011 at 4:38 pm
Thats funny. I’m pretty sure I saw Josh chewing him out right after the play.
I haven’t heard anyone say this and its probably because it’ll be construed as an excuse. I think that Freeman thought he had a free play, and decided to throw a jump ball. The flag was in the area of offsides, so why not go for it?

Read my comment:
I didnt say I had a problem with Free getting on Benn, I like that.
But dont tell the public that he was sulking until you got on him. That is self-serving and self-promotion. I expect more from Free.

Thomas – If you listen to the Josh Freeman Show, the caller pretty much set the table for Josh to answer the question like he did. If the caller had not called and asked the question, specifically the way that he asked it, Freeman probably never says a peep about it. That’s just my opinion though.

Freeman is so cool. Really like the kid.
As to Thomas, do what I do…I refuse to address him directly. I talk about the things I want to talk aobut and I simply refuse to let him bait me.
Besides…being negative about others deflects people from realizing he’s a liar and loser. He WANTS to feel as though people care about what he says. So ignore him.
I only started this very recently…but I’m kind of enjoying it, lol.
