Rudy (Carpenter) Back With (Ahmad) Black
September 5th, 2011Before the Bucs had a chance to release the members of their practice squad as the team prepares for the season opener against Detroit, Woody Cummings of the Tampa Tribune had word that backup quarterback Rudy Carpenter and rookie safety Ahmad Black passed waivers and are back with the Bucs on the practice squad.
@RoyECummings: QB Rudy Carpenter is backl with the Bucs – as a member of their practice squad. Same for WR Ed Gant, TE Daniel Hardy and S Ahmad Black
Good to see Black, who was injured much of preseason, return to his hometown team to be given a second chance of sorts.
Joe knows Bucs fans will be happy that fan favorite Ed Gant is still in Tampa, and Joe was sort of impressed with the limited play he saw from Daniel Hardy, also a Bucs draft pick this spring.

We better hold on to Gant real tight or somebody’s gonna snatch him up like we do to other practice squads!!!!

Where did Crompton end up? That cat showed some real potential. The loss of that guy can come back and bite us in the ass down the line.

I knew they wouldn’t let their brand new draft picks go.
lmao At the idea that Crompton played well. Be afraid, Tampa. We might endure the wrath of Crompton in the near future lol What a joke.

Smart moves.
I am not surprised that those guys were brought back… Mainly because I was a little surprised that they missed the cut.
But they cleared, and it looks like that they were good moves by the Bucs.

Glad to see these guys back in the organization, with a bit of sculpting I definitely think Black and Hardy can do great things.

Crompton was signed to the Redskins practice squad. Seeing him in person influenced their decision I imagine.

Joe whats up are you doing the football pool again this year?

Looks like Crompton impressed the Deadskins. They signed him to their practice squad. Also, did you see where the Aints signed TE John Gilmore?

Look for both Gant and Hardy to end up in the pros before the season is over.

I like what i saw from Hardy and I am curious about Gant. I would like to see more of him, I still think we need more speed than another possession WR. Black I reserve judgement…
I still question the front office handling of our RB corps. Behind Blount there is little potential and explosion. Preferred a 3rd down Caddy with more to offer than Lumpkin.

i really like the look of this practice squad. some good developmental guys in that group.

yawn- wake me when the regular season starts.

I’m glad they signed Pianalto as the 3rd TE instead of keeping Hardy, Purvis or Overbay. Much higher ceiling, as he was projected as a mid-round draft pick before he broke his leg his senior season. He can block and catch. Solid signing.

Ed Gant will be a starter in the NFL someday, if not in Tampa.
And Madu looked great when he ran the ball against the redskins.
