“Good Thing It Was Practice”

August 19th, 2011

Raheem Morris weighed in on the Bucs' beating.

After the beating the Bucs took last night at the hands of the Patriots, Raheem Morris said he liked that the Pats played their first team a long time so the Bucs could get “a good barometer” of where the team is.

While Joe can’t get too caught up in the Bucs’ failures Thursday, if there is a team barometer, the pressure is low and a dangerous storm is approaching — if the Bucs can’t right the ship.

“Good thing it was practice,” Raheem said.

Without watching the game tape, Raheem said the Bucs got owned in the trenches.

“They outphysicaled us up front. … Both sides of the ball. They won the up front battle. They definitely won those battles early. They won them often early. We started to have a little bit of fight back there in the second half, and I was very proud of those guys. But by that time it was too late,” Raheem said.”

There’s a reason the Patriots went 14-2 last year, but Joe’s eager to hear the coach’s assessment after watching the game tape.

I learned that only a Boston fan would try to eat cotton candy in the rain. Its the small things that make me happy.

Oline play was inexcusable. Those are vets.

I thought Blount improved on picking up the blitz. The problem as that multiple guys were getting through. I have faith in him being an every down back.

John McKay in response to a question about his team’s execution – “I’m all in favour of it.”

Funny how it is called “practice” this week. Why wasnt anyone calling it “practice” last week?

This team has a LONG way to go, folks.

YOUNGRY??????? I NEVER want to hear that ridiculous word again! Mainly because it makes me so MANGRY over the way this team plays so freaking FUGLY!! Suggestion for Raheem. Try not to blow so much smoke up everyone’s rear ends about how good your young team is and you won’t end up looking so ridiculously STOOLISH!

The Buc’s O-line was horrible and it just continued from there. The defensive line was offensive as well. If those problems are taken care of. They will be in good shape. If not it is going to be a long season.

Jerry…most people did call it practice last week. It is what it is, and it does not mean anything about the upcoming season. Remember the Lion’s won all four preseason games the year the went 0-16. If I remember correctly the Bucs SB team only won one preseason game.

    Everyone needs to relax.

Everyone here was acting like last week was telling. Now the HC says “it was just practice.” i didnt hear him suggesting that last week. He is such an amateur.
Real head coaches take their team to task for that embarrassment, but he tries to dismiss it. Good thing the great McCoy was back and Ruud replaced by a rookie. Any coincidence that the line looked more active, again, minus McCoy and plus Okam.

@MTM I disagree about th D line. They were getting decent pressure, especially in 2nd quarter on. It was LB corps missing gaps and letting interior and seam route runners run wide open. In contrast to last year, the line is the defensive unit I’m least worried about. Lots of question at LB and secondary with no ruud, talib or Jackson right now.

  10. MTM Says:

    @Jason

Did you watch the game? Brady had all day to sit in the pocket and pick the defense apart. That is the D- lines fault. Not the linebackers. Now if you want to point to the running plays that gashed the D. Then I agree it is on the LB core more.

The only way to stop the Pats offense is to put pressure on the QB and start jumping the routes of the receivers, tight ends and RB’s that Brady dumps it off to under pressure. The Giants showed the NFL the formula years ago.

This speaks volumes of the youth on the d-line:

“[Adrian] Clayborn came to me and was like, ‘Oh my god, it was so fast!’ I said, ‘I know! That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you!’ It was a reality check, we needed that,” defensive tackle Gerald McCoy said via Greg. A. Bedard of the Boston Globe.
“Man, I’m telling you man, they came out, they’d turn around huddle, snap, oh, ‘There’s the Mike, Go!’ I was like, ‘Dang! Um, Mr. Brady, can we line up?’ He didn’t care. He was like, ‘You’re not going to line up.”’ McCoy said. “When we turned around one time I checked back around and my hand was going to the grass and they were like, ‘Hut!’ And I said, ‘Noooooooooooo!’”

LOL…Thanks, Espo and jb for bringing the funny…”STOOLISH” nearly made coffee come out my nose.

  14. Espo Says:

Of course it was just practice. Everyone knows that. I don’t know why there is an argument about it.

The problem is that we looked like crap during practice. If we keep practicing like that, it’ll translate to losses. Real losses.
