“He’s Going To Make Some Full Speed Mistakes”

Listening to Raheem Morris’ news conferences daily, Joe hears more and more Chucky.
Not Chucky the head coach, but Chucky the BSPN talking head who never saw a player he didn’t like. Raheem seems to love everybody on his roster. Joe gets how coachspeak goes, and the Bucs don’t exactly have a bunch of stiffs running around, but Joe’s not detecting Raheem publicly lighting a fire under anyone’s ass or showing any sign of jumping off the Love Train.
Now that Joe has that off his chest, Raheem is, of course, liking how Mason Foster is zeroing in on the mike linebacker job, even taking first team reps.
“I’m really liking where Foster’s going. I’m really liking him taking control of the defense,” Raheem said today. “He’s going to make some full speed mistakes, which I’m a fan of when you’re a rookie. I’m ok with that, and so are his men around him. They’ll help him. They’ll guide him through.”
Joe’s about over training camp and can’t wait to see these guys fire it up on Friday night in Kansas City. It’s been too long.

he didnt hesitate to say how he felt about last seasons punter haha. “we made a mestake at punter, so we had to go buy a new one”

So long as the mistakes are not repeated week after week and the blown assignment is made at full speed with no hesitation. If mistakes are made because of indecision that is when there will be a problem.

When you can’t dazzle the fans with brilliance, baffle them with bullspit! And replacing Ruud with a rookie is bullspit! Then again, every time Raheem the Dream is in front of a microphone all we get is baffling bullspit!

Foster I think might be defensive rookie of the year this guy is a beast I’ve watched film on him and he’s a real smart player he plays the middle linebackrr how is its suppose to be played filling and hitting plus he got football speed this kid is goin to be something series I see him starting from day 1 and making a much bigger impact them ruud ever made reminds me of brooks commin out of college only reason he didn’t get drafter in the first round was his 40 time

Wonder if this will be another one of those “competitions” like McCown vs Leftwich. Curious to see if McKenzie clearly outplays Foster in preseason, who wins the job?

Rookies have a tendency to play defensively, not wanting to make a mistake while learning the new playbook. I prefer my rookies to go all out while learning, and mistakes are part of that process. His teammates understand that.

I reckon, the bigger question of these two is who can lead the defence and be trusted from the get go. McKenzie (having seen another great O to play off in new england) seemed to have a leg up on this but who knows now.
In other news a signing that actually worries me…Olin Kreutz going to the saints…really wanted us to grab him and get shot of Faine. might have been a better tutor for Zuttah (who i think played pretty well in the backend of last season and who should be the future at C), IMO

Foster will make everyone forget about Ruud. Foster is going to come in and thump some people. Expect our D to not only improve more, but to also light some ppl up.

You’re “over” training camp? Whaa? It’s barely lasted two weeks this year, and we’ve had no OTA’s, rookie camps, etc. How in the heck could you be tired of something that just started literally days ago? Personally I’m not looking forward to the veteran rustiness and rookie mistakes that are inevitable with such a dramatically shortened offseason. The first two or three regular games are likely going to be preseason-ish to a certain degree. I’m not cool with that.

FLboyinDallas- Im tired of training camp after the first day. I can’t stand waiting through all the pseudo-football of preseason to get to the real thing.

Without all the “pseudo-football” there would be no real football. Practice is what makes perfect. Gotta go through the woods to reach the clearing…know what I mean?
