“King Of Hustle” Re-Signs
August 5th, 2011Joe’s feeling a lot better now that the Bucs have brought back free agent defensive end Tim Crowder, who signed a two-year deal.
The man Raheem Morris called the “King of Hustle” last year is an important piece of the puzzle. Yeah, Joe really means that.
In the back of Joe’s mind lives the obvious injury concern with Da’Quan Bowers. Keith Millard brought it up just yesterday. Sackless, never sleepless, Kyle Moore has a lot to prove. And Alex Magee might not be the most reliable guy in the world.
Crowder plays both sides of the line, is a major cog on special teams, and in Joe’s mind he should have qualified as an emerging player worthy of rockstar general manager Mark Dominik’s thumbs-up. Thankfully, he did.
Crowder might be the only good thing to come from Jim Bates, who snagged him in the second round of the draft with the Broncos back in 2007.

Think he got his Masters degree in the offseason. I won’t forget the play he made to save the Saints game.

Crowder is a fine athlete, too. He is unquestionably the fastest of our DEs.
With Crowder, Hayward, Black, and Joseph the Bucs re-sgned all 4 of the Bucs I said we would/should re-sign. Obviously my wires were crossed with the Trueblood re-signing… but hey, nobody’s perfect.
I look forward to seeing Crowder back out there as our 3rd or 4th DE. He proved to be very versatile last season, several times dropping back to cover the TE in man coverage 30 yards downfield (and he did it well). We just became a better team with his return.

I agree with Joe on this one. Glad to see Crowder back.

Clayborn, Bowers, Bennett, Moore, Magee, Crowder- Is 6 defensive ends typical for an NFL team to run with or are we likely to see one of these guys get cut(between Moore, Bennett, Magee and Crowder)? Methinks one of these guys gets cut by end of training camp unless the team decides to run extra heavy at DE and really light somewhere else. I guess its possible with the total lack of experience at the position and injury concerns(Bowers) that the Bucs may go extra heavy there but , correct me if I’m wrong, 5 DE’s is more typically what a team will run with on the final roster?

Same here…although Caddy leaving the Bucs’ garage does still sting a bit…
GO BUCS!

The more I think about it, if I was a gambling man, I’d say weed bust Magee has to really outshine Moore, Bennett, and Crowder in camp or say goodbye.

I’m glad they resigned Crowder! He played with a ton of pride last year, and showed some improving skills. It was a good signing. Welcome back , MR. Crowder

BecklesheartsRuud,
They are listing Kyle Moore as a DE/DT. They also have Gilbeaux and George Johnson at DE. Of course those guys are on the outside looking in.
There are only 5 DTs on the roster McCoy, Price, Miller, Woods and Okam which I think is a little thin. I think Kyle Moore would be the odd man out in the list of DE’s you posted. But who knows. If Price and Bowers aren’t healthy some of these guys will get a chance. But I am very relieved that we re-signed Crowder. He has more career sacks than anyone on the roster to date…
Anyone else remember seeing Crowder run down Reggie Bush in 09 in New Orleans? Dude is an athlete.

Crowder has more career sacks than any DEFENSIVE LINEMAN on the roster.
My apologies, Mr. Barber. I don’t know what I was thinking. Glad I caught that before someone else did.
