Raheem Morris No. 16
June 11th, 2011In the throes of this asinine lockout, news is slow for both the NFL and the Bucs. So ProFootballWeekly.com put together a power ranking for NFL coaches.
In the magazine’s 2011 rankings, it has Bucs coach Raheem Morris right in the middle of the pack at No. 16.
16. Raheem Morris — Young gun slowly climbing the ladder with confidence.
Initially, Joe was taken aback by this, mainly because of some of the coaches ranked just ahead and behind Raheem. The Bucs third-year head coach is rated just again of always angry Marvin Lewis. Yeah, Lewis had two playoff teams but he has as many playoff wins as Joe.
Just ahead of Raheem is Norv Turner. Yeah, Turner has had playoff teams but he rarely seems to get the most of his talent and Turner has had damned talented teams.
But if one looks at the coaches rated above Raheem, it seems like a fair ranking.

shanahan at 10 is comical… morris being 16 is too low imo he should be like 12

Morris being 16 is exactly where I would put him. Even though Shanahan, Lovie and Norv may have not done that well recently, their experience and experience of taking teams to playoffs makes them a better coach than the rookie Raheem.
Raheem’s ranking will automatically go up if Bucs go to playoffs and win one.

I don’t care about the rating although I’d at least place him in the top 10. Winning 10 games with undrafted free agent rookies is nothing short of incredible. I do however, have a problem with ” Young gun slowly climbing the ladder with confidence.” Seriously? Slowly climbing the ladder? He is taking the NFL by storm, as fast as any coach ever has.

Jonny:
Lovie and Norv have done a helluva lot more recently than Shanahan.

That’s about where I’d rank him too. He did an outstanding job last year with the youngest team in football but needs a playoff win to get into the top half of the list.

Don’t really care for the other guys on hte list, but Morris is located at a pretty accurate spot.
He’s learning, just like his players are. Most new coaches stay set in their plan…he actually had the b@lls to change his direction almost completely after the first year. Rare to see a coach do.
He’ll continue to make some mistakes, but what I like is that he learns from them. I suspect coach-player relations is going to be his next big lesson.

Pete, the brass hired a couple of non-coordinators that did nothing but undermind his every move during his freshman year. Now the Glazers know he can stand on his own two feet.

I would rank him 33rd bc he is in a class of his own.
Dallas has two head coaches Garrett and Jerry Jones, so does Oakland with Al Davis being the co-head coach. I have Rah ever so slightly ahead of Al Davis.

Wow Thomas, what a surprise.

Sometimes, being a motivator is more important then being an X and O’s Coach. Raheem is an excellent motivator, Tampa is fortunate to have him.

a good coach any fair minded person can see that…the far right wingers the party of no…that hate blacks in power may not see it this way tho

Fire rahseen morris.

Raheem is around 30th. I cant believe that they can justifiably rank him higher since he hasnt done anything. Raheem can’t win a big game, much less make the playoffs. His defenses are continually outgunned even against backup QBs on losing teams… which is where Rah got most of those wins.
I can’t wait for him to fall on his face while slipping to put it on someone. Raheem is a freakin embarrassing douche bag. I hate the bucs now just because of him and his fanbase he attracts.
The glazers ain’t gettin a dime from me until he is gone.

You guys should go be a fan of a team ranked 17th-32nd.

Joe here,

And what fan base is that? The team had every game blacked out and the worst attendance in the league by far. …If you “hate the Bucs,” what the heck are you doing here.

We will know soon enough if that 10-6 season was reality or fluke.
I say fluke.
