Bucs “Likely To Keep” Aqib Talib

Joe understands most fans are as upset as Joe is at this asinine lockout thrust upon right-thinking Americans by NFL chieftain Roger Goodell. Not only does it hurt fans, it hurts players too.
“The Professor,” John Clayton of BSPN, decided to put fingertips to keyboard and selected 10 NFL players that this asinine lockout is hurting.
Coming in last on the list is Bucs troubled cornerback Aqib Talib.
10. Bucs cornerback Aqib Talib: Teammate Ronde Barber spoke up for the troubled Bucs cornerback this week. Players don’t want him to be released, and the team is likely to keep him. But he faces up to 20 years in prison on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Texas. Instead of sitting through the summer worrying about the case, Talib would be best served by a quick labor settlement and the chance to focus on football.
Joe isn’t so sure how the asinine lockout is hurting Talib. Right now thanks to the asinine lockout, he is out of sight and almost out of mind, which is perfect for a guy embroiled in a legal battle like Talib. He’s also attending Freeman’s workouts so that’s a plus.
But there was one phrase in Clayton’s synopsis that caught Joe’s eye. “Likely to return?” Hhhmmm. Joe thought it was a done deal Talib was gone?

While I hope/think Clayton is right on Talib’s return, I by no means put stock in that clown’s opinion. He is one of the worst BSPN puppets of them all. He’s stiff, he’s ugly, he’s an aging dinosaur and he’s often wrong or misinformed. How he’s still on TV i have no idea, and the fact that BSPN radio had him talking tennis and nba finals on air today with Freddie Coleman, is just beyond bewilderment.

He couldn’t be more wrong. If this lockout wasn’t happening Talib would likely be unemployed right now. The lockout lets the Bucs do nothing and see how this shakes out in court. If they had to make a decision right after the incident happened I think they would have cut him loose.

Take this to the bank, Ronde Barber has a lot of influence and insight into what Tampa is going to do.
I don’t want, or see Talib going anywhere.

That’s why you never trust the local rags for information Joe. The most accurate places for you to find info are websites like PFT or PR and of course always check out the Man Channel also known as NFL Network.

He meant that the State of Texas is likely to keep him – imprisoned. This guy is a very good corner but he is an even better criminal. Yes criminal. He was prosecuted for the battery on the cabbie, unsure of the ultimate disposition. He has assaulted if not battered teammates on and off the field. I dont know how any org can count on him.
If he is under contract and not in prison, I suspect this image not-conscious regime will keep him. When it comes time for a new deal, bye bye, or no guaranteed $.

If anything, this lockout is helping Talib i.e. giving time for the “wounds” to heal and prohibiting any knee jerk reactions(firing) immediately after he was arrested. Talib is definitely benefiting from this lockout…. as well as Ruud.

Joe – Being that it is the union’s position that behavior during the lockout is not subject to conduct penalties, do you think (or have you heard) that plea bargaining would be in Talib’s best interests?
I’m thinking of a scenario where the lockout has ended but a potential Talib guilty verdict (either by plea bargain or jury) comes after that. So even if the union convinces the league to not punish players when the lockout ends, this scenario puts Talib in a gray area.

@Theodore — Don’t think Talib is at all concerned with Goodell right now, only trying to get the best ending he can in Texas that doesn’t include him admitting to handling a gun.
Very gray area with the NFL. Think it’s potentially quite a legal issue that a good employment lawyer would have a field day with. Not employed because of a lockout yet suspeded under company rules? …The NFL does have a policy that allows it to punish a player for actions done prior to entering the league, which could somehow apply.

I think this lockout hurt talib alot… Had it not been for the lockout.. that incident may have never happened because he MAY have been at work down here….

Sean Salisbury was terrible as an analyst (and a player) but he nailed it when he called Clayton the “crypt keeper.”
Anyone who remembers those shows from the 90’s will immediately recognize the resemblance. I honestly don’t understand why they let this guy on tv. He never brings anything significant to the programing and he is absolutely hideous to look at and listen to. He stutters so much that he reminds me of Porky Pig.
If they wanted someone that talks out of their ass that’s okay with me….as long as the ass belongs to a brunette with an amazing rack and a voice that makes my knees buckle.

I dont buy Capt.Tim as a racist,he just dont have the patience for the b.s!The thing that alot of us are looking at is that the team is hurt by Talibs action and thats the main reason we are upset but the only thing more important than team is family,and I dont think I could cheer or respect a man that allows another man to beat his sister no matter how stupid she acts.
