Chris Simms Stoned “Like A Zombie”

May 3rd, 2011

In his trial in New York in an attempt to skate on pot charges, former Bucs quarterback Chris Simms threw his friends under the bus claiming they were the ones smoking left-handed cigarettes.

New York cops had a different story, per Scott Shifrel of the New York Daily News.

Chris Simms was so stoned that the Tennessee Titans quarterback was “like a zombie,” the cop who arrested him at a traffic stop told jurors on Monday.

Simms, 30, son of former Giants quarterback Phil Simms, reeked of marijuana and refused to take a blood test after the July 1 stop, Police Officer Francisco Acosta said.

“He was out of it, like a zombie,” Acosta told jurors. “He was very, very unsteady on his feet.”

The thing is, if Simms would have just sucked it up he would have had a wrist-slap by New York authorities. Instead, Simms, per Shifrel, is looking at a year in a cage if convicted.

He must have been still baked outta his mind to decide to fight these charges

  2. passthebuc Says:

Ask most of the NY police if they have ever smoked pot.

Evidently, simms was a better fit for this team than originally believed. T jax, jerramy stevans, geno, [Thomas, you include that guy’s name again with the criminals and it will be your last post. — Joe] simms and the boys could haveba helluva time – throw in some talib and that is a party!

cops have been know to lie….

  5. Tommy Boy Says:

Damn the lockout. Great sites like JBF and PFT are now relegated to posting stories about inconsequential people like Simms.

Most Bucs fans would like to keep up with former players, Tommy Boy. I think it would’ve made a nice addition to Morning Cup of Joe though.

I think that if an individual ruptures a spleen while trying to win a football game for the team I love, I’m not going to judge him as long as he isn’t doing anything to hurt my team.

    Tommy Boy:

Joe would have written about this if it was in the middle of the season.

Joe is about topics; not transactions. Joe found this amusing, thus it warrants a post on Joe’s blog.

Sadly, Joe is thinking about doing away with Morning Cup of Joe. Today is the first time in two weeks anyone commented. It takes Joe a good chunk of time to put that together each weeknight. If no one is commenting on it, that tells Joe no one is reading it.

Hell, Joe tried to include football links and that isn’t working.

Played like he had no pulse too…

I look forward to my morning cup of Joe! Followed by my morning toke of Simms!! Just kidding, I quit doing that junk 20 years ago. Driving under the influence is no joke! That does’nt mean Simms wont be the butt of jokes for the next 20 years!

that is why Gruden is an Offensive genius, He took a team with Simms at quarterback to the playoffs. Looking back at that feat, Gruden might be the greatest offensive coach of all time.

  12. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Yeah Thomas, because we are the only team that has guys smoke marijuana! Do you actually live in the real world, or do you live in a cave or something?

  13. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @the buc realist,

No, that honor would go to Brian Billick for winning a Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer.

  14. Fear The Glo Says:

Its kind of surprising to me that Simms is 30 years old. I guess its an out of sight out of mind thing but I still see him as the kid that Gruden used for anger management. Its time to grow up Chris.

If you doing away with morning cup of Joe then at least let us keep the lovely lady of the day.

Joe, I have absolutely no talent in HTML or computer science (my major is in Environmental Science & Policy), but do you get readings on how many clicks you get on articles, or links, like with Morning Cup of Joe? It is true that they do get low comments. Honestly I’ve only commented on the women you’ve pictured with the links. I think most are just vocal on all things Bucs.

  16. Scott Says:

Joe: About the morning cup of Joe thing. It’s not really unique. I don’t know about everyone else but I already read a couple of news aggregators (Fark and Reddit). I read your site every day but I come here for football. The funny news stuff I get elsewhere. I’ve never seen a link in Morning Joe that I hadn’t already seen on one of the two other sites I mentioned.

Whatever you do…keep putting up those photos!

    @Tuggz
There are plugins available with the website software he uses that allow for it…both privately and publically. Some people get nervous about plugins for fear of hacking…but I have never been hacked and I’ve designs about 20 websites with the same software.

  18. Pete Dutcher Says:

I know, Joe…you could have a morning lockout update 😉 the one time you comment on it each day.

Or maybe a “What are they doing?” about current and past Bucs player?

    But keep the pictures!!!!!! 🙂

  19. Joe Says:

If Morning Cup of Joe goes, so goes the photos.

    So comment.
