Luke Stocker Should Help Out Kellen Winslow

April 30th, 2011

It seems the Bucs got a well-rounded tight end in Luke Stocker. The Tennessee product is equally adept at blocking as he is catching passes in traffic, which he excels at by force of necessity as he isn’t quick enough to separate in man-to-man coverage, though he does have good hands.

Joe knows that Woody Cummings of the Tampa Tribune had said all along the Bucs were going to draft a tight end and many fans mocked him for it.

To Joe, this may signal that the Bucs have a hint of concern over Kellen Winslow’s knee. Remember last year that Wiinslow skipped most training camp practices to spare his knee.

Perhaps the Bucs are planning to use Stocker in an effort to take some wear and tear off of the tread of Winslow’s tires thereby extending his shelf life?

For the draftniks out there, here is Stocker’s combine workout video.

Or…it could be they are concerned that they have 0 quality depth at TE..or a little of both!

No Joe, Cummings said he ‘wouldn’t be surprised if the Bucs spent a 2nd round pick on a did TE.’ Did the Bucs spend a 2nd round pick on a TE Joe? Did they spend a 2nd day pick on a TE? No, they drafted DE, DE, LB, and go figure, those were desperate needs.

Even when mocking the lazy bum I agreed that while the bucs could very well draft one, they would not spend a premium pick (2nd or 3rd round) on one. Look it up.

I suggest you get your selective hearing checked.

Exactly, Tom. He was not mocked for suggesting the Bucs might draft a TE. It was his prediction about WHERE they would make that selection that was mocked. And it didn’t happen.

There is no one else at TE that was worth a damn, thats why they drafted a TE, not because they are worried about Winslow. If that was the case they WOULD have spent their 2nd rounder on a TE like Cummings predicted, but like the others posted THAT DIDNT HAPPEN. Winslow has has 2 of the best seasons ANY TE has EVER had in Buccaneers history, and has not missed a game, why are we worried about anything else??? When he starts missing games is when I’ll start worrying, ALL NFL players are banged up, WHO CARES, its part of the sport. This guy looks like a large blocking type TE which will definitely give the position some depth, dont think Raheem or Mark are worried AT ALL.
