Mike Williams Cracks Top 100 In NFL
April 25th, 2011As much as Joe is fired up about this week’s NFL Draft, Joe is absolutely pumped up for the NFL Network special that starts Saturday night and will extend for weeks. The focus of the series is the top 100 players currently in the league as voted by NFL players.
What? You don’t have the man channel, aka NFL Network? Shame on you. (Life tip: weather reports and radar are available online 24/7.)
Now Joe has learned with help from a reader and confirmation by an NFL source, that Mike Williams cracked the top 100 and will be featured on the show. Joe was told Williams checks in at No. 83.
Joe thinks it’s fabulous that a rookie like Williams, at a position with loads of talent and names, made the cut. That bodes very well for several Bucs making the top 100.
Joe suspects Aqib Talib, Josh Freeman and Donald Penn are locks. And Joe has a little hope for Kellen Winslow, Ronde Barber and LeGarrette Blount, though Joe realizes Peter King, via the link above, reported only two rookies made the cut, including Ndamukong Suh.

The fans also get a vote…..The 6 Bucs candidates are Talib, Williams, Freeman, Penn, Winslow, and Blount.
April 25th, 2011 at 11:11 am
Blount can’t be on the list because Per your original article only 2, 2010 rookies made the top 100 with one being SUH, and now we know the other is Mike Williams.
Freeman will make it for sure, I assume to the top 25 perhaps?
April 25th, 2011 at 11:11 am
My bad, fans might not get a vote….

Joe here,
@Kyle (USMC-Buc) You’re right. Joe updated the post at the end. Though there’s always a shot Peter King is wrong. Joe can dream.

Joe,
Is it possible for the teams to hold “voluntary” mini camps and training camp for undrafted free agents, with a wink-wink understanding that the best players could be signed after the lock-out? It could almost be marketed as a NFL fantasy camp where players could even pay their own way to attend.

Wow NOW we’re happy about stats?
I thought stats were for losers????? So what is it people?

Joe’s Headline: “Mike Williams Cracks Top 100 In NFL”
Last year’s headline: Sorry Derf. There has been no evidence to suggest Tanard Jackson did what you allege.– Joe
What a difference a year makes!
Any News on TJ Joe? Where’s he been, how’s he doing, is TJ still on the team?

______
What stats? Where is there a single stat mentioned in either the posting or the comments?
Also, I will find it amusing if Talib is in the top 100 on NFL network, but didn’t make BSPN’s top 25 cornerbacks.

On the preview show yesterday, it was said that 3 rookies made the top 100 List. I would assume the other 2 were Suh and Bradford though. Btw, you’re welcome Joe.

I think Freeman should be 40 and below. His production and ceiling is scrary.
April 25th, 2011 at 11:59 am
Freeman is in my top 10. No, actually he is my number 1. It is what it is. No, I wouldn’t trade him for Manning or Brady. As stated by many, his upside is off the charts.

It would be nice to see the “crackhead” above, get back to cracking heads. Tanard has been one of my favorites since they found him in the Senior Bowl. I truly hope that Tanard and Aqib both get their acts together and help the Bucs make a run for the Lombardi Trophy. A few good draft picks, a FA or two and this could be the best Bucs’ Team ever.

I wonder where Suh comes in at? That’s some maaajor praise for a rookie.
Please. End. The lockout!

Derf:
There is no news on Tanard Jackson and won’t be unless he does something stupid (again).
He is suspended meaning he is in limbo. Nothing can happen to him until his suspension has expired. On a side note, he is keeping a very low profile.

Nick P:
No. No NFL team can call or have contact or any type of communication with any free agent until the CBA has been signed.
That doesn’t mean teams cannot scout arena league and UFL games.

I thought I heard on NFL network that three rookies made the top 100. I know that Pouncey got snubbed but thought that McCourty made the cut. I may be wrong though.
April 25th, 2011 at 1:14 pm
When i first saw the preview on nfl network, Jamie Dukes and Trent Green was arguing that Eric Berry, Joe Haden, and Devin Mccourty deserved it over Mike Williams.
April 25th, 2011 at 1:27 pm
I understand Mike Williams getting enough player’s votes because he sure burned enough Defensive backs and safeties throughout the season. He isn’t Megatron yet but he is well on his way. He was the steal of the Draft.
April 25th, 2011 at 1:31 pm
I dont think his speed is respected. I think next year it will be and the running game will benefit.

No one has mentioned Davin Joseph. He is the only OL to go to a pro bowl. Shouldn’t he be before Penn? Personally I think he is over rated, but everyone else says differently.
April 26th, 2011 at 3:13 am
I think DV is our best lineman, but happy Penn makes the cut. I think Penn is getting recognition for also being such a great receiver 🙂

Uh, Penn was in the Pro Bowl this year. Yes, he got in as an alternate, but so did Joseph.
