Is This Kyle Moore’s Year?
April 7th, 2011Among the notable milestones reached by Buccaneers last year, Kyle Moore checked in with one of the tougher marks for a defensive end to achieve.
The 2010 annointed LDE starter completed his 16th career game without a sack. That’s no easy task.
But it seems Raheem Morris still has high hopes for the former sleeper of the 2009 draft.
Raheem told eye-RAH Kaufman of The Tampa Tribune that he believes his young linemen will blossom in their second or third seasons in the league.
“Usually with defensive linemen, it’s Year 2 or Year 3 that they really develop,’’ Morris said. “You stay with your fundamental core beliefs and you’ll get better. McCoy had a two-sack game and got hurt. I was really looking forward to him exploding onto the scene and finishing that process strong. When I watch the tape, I see a lot of splash plays by Michael Bennett. I see McCoy getting better and I see Price being dynamic when he played. It’s very exciting when you think about getting those guys back and bringing in two D-line coaches to get the most out of them.’‘
Hmmm, Raheem didn’t mention Moore in that quote, but surely the Bucs are hoping Moore revives his career when the big boy pads come back on. Although if the Bucs snag two defensive ends in the draft, his time in pewter might be over.

Mmm, think Moore might be done

Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane!
April 7th, 2011 at 3:23 pm
Said exact same thing last year, but Moore didn’t produce…

Short answer….No. Long answer…..No.

Two new DEs to go with Crowder and Bennett is all I would keep. The rest can hit the road except maybe someone on the practice squad.

This Rays team is so F*****G PATHETIC!!!
April 7th, 2011 at 4:50 pm
Stylez G 4 backup, No more Moore
April 7th, 2011 at 4:55 pm
Hire
Rays are more like the Buttermaker Boys!
“Hey, Ahmad – even Hank Aaron peels the ol’ eyelids before he takes a swing!”
“You guys swing like Helen Keller at a Piñata party.”

“This Rays team is so F*****G PATHETIC!!!”
LMAO. What Ive been saying for the past 3 days…. Rreminds me of the ’09 Bucs. Jeesh, thank god thats over.
April 7th, 2011 at 5:23 pm
This guy hasn’t even proven that he should be kept for depth. How he got the starting role is beyond me.
April 7th, 2011 at 5:34 pm
Dave- agree, except keep Alex McGee. He looked really explosive in very limited play here. I like his potential.
April 7th, 2011 at 6:21 pm
my two cents….
draft ryan kerrigan (trading up and giving maybe a 5th rounder) draft jabaal sheard and keep magee, bennett and crowder.

Joe here,
Understand the Rays frustration, fellas. But let’s keep it over at http://www.JoeRaysFan.com

Moore is dog poo. He’s done.
April 7th, 2011 at 7:50 pm
the headline should probably say “is this kyle moore’s last year?”. the answer being yes, unless he somehow comes up with 8 or 9 sacks somehow. this is an obvious make or break year for him.
April 7th, 2011 at 9:09 pm
Joe, kyle moore might be one of the worst d ends in buc history. Rah said “mccoy was getting better.” well except for the 2nd atlanta game when he didnt show up on the stat sheet at all despite playing virtually the entire game.
Bennett appears to have some skills.
April 7th, 2011 at 10:42 pm
@thomas 2.2: Remember Moore was a 4th round draft choice, not first or second. We didn’t have much invested in him. Therefore, he is absolutely not one of the worst DEs in Bucs history.
April 7th, 2011 at 11:37 pm
Thomas,
How often are you going to bring up the Atlanta game when McCoy had no stats? Oh no, he had no stats in one game, we should cut him!!! Stop repeating yourself. If you don’t have any new material, then don’t say anything at all. This is yet another reason why nobody takes you serious.
As for Moore, I’m all for letting a player develop, and I am a believer that some players take longer than others. However, you would have liked to have seen some flashes last year that would make you think he has potential. I, for one, didn’t see it. Unless he tears it up in camp and the preseason, I doubt he will have a spot on this team next year.
April 7th, 2011 at 11:59 pm
He’s a good blocker though… wait, nevermind, that was Michael Clayton. He’s not worth the gatorade he’s using up. This guy’s gonna be gone after we land two DEs in the draft. Thanks for nothing, Moore!
April 8th, 2011 at 5:49 am
Thomas: If you watch that Atlanta game, McCoy was constantly in the backfield causing problems for the Falcons. He didn’t show up on the stat sheet, but he most certainly showed up on film.
April 8th, 2011 at 8:33 am
Whoa, 3 Rays posts and we get chided.
How dare I?
Don’t want to take up bandwidth from Thomas 2.2’s moronic opinions…
April 8th, 2011 at 8:54 am
No way Moore should take up a roster spot again this year. We have too many young DT and DE with potential to waste a spot on him.
April 8th, 2011 at 9:04 am
Joe believes Dominik will give Moore one more year since he hired two new defensive line coaches to see if they can light a spark.
One could argue Moore hasn’t been coached up yet.
April 8th, 2011 at 12:30 pm
This site is so much sweeter than the others I’ve been on. That being said I don’t think Kyle Moore will be with the team long term. I watched every game last year, and the only thing I remember Moore doing was dancing like a clown when Aqib Talib scored a touchdown. Ended up being a penalty.
April 8th, 2011 at 1:54 pm
Thanks Matthew, please spread thegood word!
April 8th, 2011 at 4:22 pm
That’s why I’m here. I may not agree with everyone all the time, but it’s a good clean place with lot of info. There is a level of respect amongst most followers of the website I enjoy.
About Kyle Moore
I’ve always had high hopes for him. I would love to see him turn things around.
I wonder how he would do as a Linebacker? There have been several DEs that convert to LBs once coming to the NFL…successfully.
April 9th, 2011 at 6:36 pm
I have to agree with JDUB. Moore doesn’t deserve a spot on this team. I think he could care less about football and has no drive. That will not change overnight. So expect the same results from this guy every year.
April 9th, 2011 at 6:40 pm
Trade up for Robert Quinn and draft one more somewhere around round 3 or 4. We need to get 2 DE, 1 CB, 1 RB, atleast 1 LB, and maybe a late round WR with speed. I think if the players are there in rounds 2-5. We need to look at trading 2012 picks to get them this year. We need to sign a CB in FA whenever that begins and atleast a DL and LB. Whatever we can’t get in the draft, the team needs to pay some money this year and put us over the hump!!
GO BUCS!!!!
April 10th, 2011 at 1:45 am
At USC, Kyle Moore had Clay Matthews to help him. The Trojans used their linebackers more for pass rushing. Kyle Moore like all USC Defensive Ends was more for run containment. He still managed 5 sacks his senior year, and played well in the Senior Bowl. Perhaps Tampa will keep him, since he does have an impressive wingspan. Perhaps the new Tampa Coaches will revive him ?
April 10th, 2011 at 2:22 am
Get rid of him he’s a waste of a roster spot!! He’ll be exactly the same as he was last year.
