Geno Hayes Has Criminal Case Dropped
April 4th, 2011Last season when Geno Hayes was tasered at a night club after a Bucs game, in the wee hours of a Monday after an altercation, the Bucs linebacker was slapped with charges of disorderly conduct and trespassing.
Those charges exist no more.
Per good guy Stephen Holder of the St. Petersburg Times, Hayes reached an agreement with prosecutors so that he could have one charge dropped and Hayes pleaded no contest to trespassing.
The court will withhold adjudication on the trespassing charge. Hayes will not be required to perform community service or serve any other sentence, not uncommon in similar cases. Hayes will only be required to pay $265 in court costs.
The fact that the charges will not be adjudicated could potentially help Hayes once this case is inevitably reviewed by NFL officials to determine whether there was a violation of the league’s personal conduct policy. However, commissioner Roger Goodell has in the past handed down discipline even in cases where players were not technically found guilty of a crime.
Holder, who spoke with Hayes’ attorney Andrew (not Adam) Schein, did not detail what the agreement Hayes made with prosecutors.

Gino, buddy, pleassseee don’t get in any more trouble. Be the player we are all hoping you can be! Anyone can screw up once.
Just- no more, ok?

Wow, Tim. Thought you’d be ok with Geno screwing up and getting sent packing. I know you think the OLBs are the biggest concern/weakness outside of DE. Personally, I think Geno’s done a pretty good job, despite his smaller size for an OLB.

BamBam- nah, I hope he can improve, as he’s still young. But I don’t think he should be starting. He can still be a big part of the team as a situational guy and special teamer
Plus I don’t want to see any young man ruin his chance at the NFL. He worked hard to get here. I always hope the young men get the opportunity to be their best. That way, suceed or fail, that can be proud of of what they did!
And I want Every Buc Player to succeed!

This was another case where Tampa fans turned on Gino when it first happened. Once the story came out, people came back around.
Just saying 😉

I don’t think what Gino did was bad at all. I think Aqib punching the Cabbie in the back of the head was actually worse than shooting at an idiot scumbag and missing a couple times. Hitting someone in the back of the head is extremely dangerous and a good blow in the right spot can kill someone. I’ve had it with Talib regardless, but I feel the last incident was worse than this one.
Aqib may just make the “World’s Dumbest” show. I would love to see Tanya Harding & Judy Gold get a hold of this one. Hopefully some video will surface soon. I’m sure it was hilarious.

“However, commissioner Roger Goodell has in the past handed down discipline even in cases where players were not technically found guilty of a crime”
How is this legal?
April 5th, 2011 at 7:32 am
Er..Didn’t know most people couldn’t spell his first name right…Geno, not Gino 🙂
April 5th, 2011 at 7:33 am
Its legal because the guys are beating charges by settling out of court and were guilty or a good lawyer gets them off thats why I want to wait and see if Talib really did this or is a creep trying to get off knowing his history. It is sad because I listen to Ron and Ian talk about the article with Talib at Kansas, his moms record, but not once did they mention the retired cop saying he saw the whole thing, and to think Ian said he should have called the cops but I remember he was the same one that said he would have beat Kanye west ass if he would have approach the stage with his daughter.I still love the show but I guess thats what we have to do for ratings, just wish they would have talked about the whole article

OMG, we misspelled G”E”no’s name. Will someone please give me a Quarter so I can call someone that gives a $h!t.
Moron. Way to contribute to the discussion. WTF, are you Thomas 2.2″‘s brother?
Ruud, Rudd, Geno, Gino. When you make yourself relevant by playing at a high level, fans will spell your name correctly, as in JOSH FREEMAN. Nobody mistakes that one.
