Aqib Talib Case Should Clear Up Soon

In some ways, it’s noble for a guy to go all Sonny Corleone on a skunk who has roughed up his sister.
But it’s not smart in any sense of the word for a guy on thin ice with a highly-paid, promising NFL career on the line to perhaps urinate it away by pistol whipping said skunk and then trying to gun him down as he ran from the scene… allegedly.
Whether Texas police turn the other cheek or authorities decided to bring Talib up on charges will be known shortly, so reports Rick Stroud of the St. Petersburg Times.
“I will confirm he is a person of interest,” Garland police spokesman Joe Harn told the St. Petersburg Times Monday. “This is still an open case. Once the detectives have decided, probably later this week, if there are charges that need to be brought against him or not, because of the high-profile interest in this case, we’ll have an announcement.”
Talib, who was suspended one game last season for assaulting a St. Petersburg cab driver in 2009, could face further sanctions from the NFL from his involvement in the incident.
It will be interesting to see if Talib wiggles off the hook on this one. Joe is of the opinion this may never have happened if there wasn’t a lockout. Talib very well could have been at One Buc Palace working out, far from the trouble in Texas where he is doing a bad imitation of Captain America.

(The following is a work of fiction…or is it?)
Sharon had taken enough abuse from her boyfriend Shannon. For months now, Shannon had been taken his frustrations out on her. Over and over, her mother and her brother had told her to call the cops, but she wanted to believe that Shannon loved her, even through all the hitting.
But she had finally taken enough. After speaking with her mother, she finally called the police late one night. They came and Shannon spent the night in kail, which only served to anger him more. As soon as he was out, the abuse started up again.
So, once again, she called the police. She decided to press charges for assault. He went to jail, but was out on bail within hours.
At this point, at the encouragement of her mother and her brother, who was away on business, she filed a restraining order against Shannon, wanting nothing more to do with him. She just wanted to move on.
But then the phone calls began. He would call her at random hours through various nights, threatening her. He said if she didn’t drop the charges, he would kill her.
“Don’t think I won’t do it, b@#$%!” He shouted into the phone. “I’ve already raped one woman, and I’ll rape you too and then kill you! You’re are going to die tonight, b#@$%$!”
By this time, Sharons brother was back in town. Sharon called her mother after that particular phone call, and her mother and brother rushed over to comfort her. On their way out, both grabbed their handguns, not knowing if Shannon was really going to show with the intent of harming Sharon.
The arrived, and sure enough, Shannon was outside Sharon’s home, yelling and threatening. Immediately, her brother Aqib jumped out of his car and drew his gun, threatening Shannon and telling him to leave. Shannon was unarmed, but aggressive.
Aqib got between Shannon and Sharon, who had now come outside and rushed to the arms of her mother. Shannon continued threatening her life, saying he would kill her if she pressed charges. He rushed toward her, thinking to do her harm.
Not wanting to shoot anyone, Aqib hit Shannon with the butt of his gun, dazing the man for a moment. But Shannon only got madder and he rushed Aqib. They struggled and Aqib dropped the gun. Shannon managed to grab it off the ground and point it at Aqib.
His mother, seeing this, pulled out her own gun. Shannon saw her doing it, and ran. Aqib and Sharons mother shot toward him, telling him to never come back.
Then Shannon stopped running momentarily and raised Aqib’s gun as if to shoot. Seeing this, Aqib grabbed his mother’s gun from her and fired two quick shots at Shannon, missing but scaring him enough to make him run again.
Later, when the police arrived, they caught Shannon and arrested him on unrelated sexual assault charges. They began their investigation of the incident.
So there you have it…
If the story above were true, on whose side would you fall? We don’t know the truth of the situation, but what if this really is what happened?

My favorite part of the story is how the only two witnesses are aqib’s sister and his mom. I think the case will be thrown out.
