Olson Calms Fans’ Fears, Heightens Faine’s

March 18th, 2011

Joe gets the messages, e-mails, Twitterings from Bucs fans: They are worried such a young team will crumble and fall apart with the lockout in place, that team unity will fold.

Bucs offensive coordinator Greg Olson soothed Bucs fans fears when he told eye-RAH! Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune those concerns are empty. The Bucs will be ready to play when the lockout is over, whenever it is over.

“We knew this might happen,” Olson said, referring to the lockout imposed by team owners when the labor agreement with the NFL Players Association expired late last week. “We’ve made all the measures we had to do, staying within the rules. We should be fine. Every team is the same in this situation, working under the same rules.”

Though Olson didn’t comment specifically about Josh Freeman’s plans to have the Bucs work out as a team, reading between the lines it is quite clear: It’s going to happen.

Which should cause union-first Jeff Faine to have some restless nights.

Just wait till team REP Jeff Faine greets our 1st round pick with Open ARMS at the NFLPA Holiday Inn Ball Room Bonanza !!!

This bothers me because Faine is supposed to be an astute businessman. I haven’t really spoke out about Faine because I believe he has the right to have a union-first approach but he must understand that the union is just as much a part of business as the NFL owners. Why couldn’t he just keep his mouth close and support the team plans that we now have learned was already in the making. That tells me that Faine lack of judgment and repeat focusing on players that “are hurting and won’t say anything” are motive driven. Faine, just be about your cause and that’s it. Stop trying to entrap or force your representation on other players who may support the union but aren’t as vocal. Do you see the Glazers out front with a picketed sign or in the media drawing lines? NO. As a matter of fact the only owners you see or hear from is Jerry Jones (Cows) and Jerry Richardson (Meerkats) both of which teams internal fortitudes are questionable.

All solid franchises have remained quiet as the relationship with their players is at stake after the lockout is resolved. In other words, this is a business issue, do not make it personal. Faine has made it personal and continues to by running his oft-injured trap. I can’t wait to see what happens when the lockout is over and the Bucs come out on fire and he gets injured again and we have to listen to his weekly spew during the season. Not only has he been non-productive but his salary warrants a release alone. He was an acquisition by the prior regime and I have no ties to this player. I could care less whether he stays or goes. Personally the line ran the ball better after he left anyway. Sorry for my venting but I respect Josh and the Glazers for handling business like they are. Let the owners be owners and the players be players. Don’t cross the lines and he clearly has…

I do recall Mr. Faine doing some admirable charitable work.

Perhaps he isn’t quite so deserving of the daily JBF lambasting.

He has said some stupid stuff, but Faine BS is miniscule compared to the Glazer Boys BS, IMO.

    Who cares lets PLAY FOOTBALL!

Wishing injury on the man is taking things to an ugly level.

Keep talking Faine, next season when Pouncy is snapping the ball to Josh, you can wonder what happened to your time in the league.

So you weren’t a fan of the Buc’s before Raheem/Dom?
BTW His intellectual abiltiy to help read the defense/blitzes is his advantage.

  8. OAR Says:

I highly doubt Pouncy will be doing any snapping/hiking in the NFL. He’ll move back to his regular G position.

  9. OAR Says:

I thought you were a “fan”, no matter who coached or who played for your team?

  10. eric Says:

Time to cut Joseph, Faine, Caddy, Zuttah, Geno, Quincy, Talib, Ruud, JJ, Graham, Hayward, Penn…………………………..etc.

All leftovers from the evil prior regime.

Does that apply to Raheem? He was hired by them also……………and Olsen.

What a bunch of babies,Gruden hired him Morris hired him,do you guys realize that there is a lockout, you sound like the players and owners,as long as faine performs when he is healthy I dont care if he doesnt say the right thing!!!!!!I guess im pouting now I WONT FOOTBALL and i will be happy with him with us.We dont know whats going through the players mind A.Peterson has always been well spoken, but now he thinks slaves make millions of dollars and before its over you will hear more from other players .Ill say this since A.P thinks its unfair that the owners make so much money how about him giving some of his to Blount since he makes so much more and that way he will be teaching the league how to share revenue

  12. OAR Says:

What there’s a lockout??? When did that happen? I haven’t heard a single thing about it!
BTW A Peterson is an IDIOT! Just run, Adrian, just run!
Now, can I have my pacifier back?

This is worthless information. Of course olson would say and probably believes that. The real story is that nobody which teams are more prepared than others. We can all speculate that Free will do a decent job but he is only a 2 year pro (or 11/2) with a bright future but he has never even played in a playoff game.

MAnning Brady and Brees would probably in a better position to organize and lead informal workouts.

I am hoping for football and want to see how these kids play against a normally difficult schedule – last years gift of a schedule (easy teams with 2nd and 3rd string qbs) only happens every so often.

Penn deserves every dime he contracted for. McCoy should have to give money back – he stinks.

Doesn’t look like the lockout is enhancing the mood here at JBF.Com.

young teams will only get stronger….they will not be missing much….and really don’y know any better….hence the power of the young
