Winslow Is A Happy Man

A model of consistency in the Bucs’ lineup for the past two seasons, Kellen Winslow is extremely content, so he told Dan Parr of Pro Football Weekly.
And why shouldn’t he be? His lack of blocking talent — and occasional lack of blocking effort — is accepted, and he’s got a stud young quarterback looking for him.
Parr got a lot of happy-guy quotes from Winslow, who also described the maturation of his workouts.
“I knew we had the right guy leading us (at head coach), but I just knew we were really young,” Winslow said. “For us to do what we’re doing — it’s pretty amazing with how young we are. (My teammates) made me a believer. I didn’t know at first. I didn’t know how good we could be.”
The 27-year-old has undergone several surgeries on his right knee since he was involved in a motorcycle accident in ’05 and his practice time in training camp and during the season has been limited by head coach Raheem Morris to give him time to rest and recover.
Winslow said his offseason workout regimen has also changed over the years, and that it currently consists of running, cycling and playing basketball.
“I’ve gotten a lot smarter,” he said. “I just used to do anything I could because I wanted everything right now. I would already be running routes right now and be lifting a lot of weights.”
Joe enjoys watching Winslow. What a Grade A talent. Joe just wonders how long he can manage his chronic injuries.
It sure wouldn’t hurt the Bucs to draft a second tight end that can be a legitimate threat in the passing game.

I’ve always been a fan of Winslow’s, even though I’m an FSU guy…..just love the intensity he plays with and the way he plays the TE position.
I think we should all recognize as well that since he’s come to TB he’s been a model citizen and teammate. There was a lot of chatter in this city that Winslow was a headcase and prima donna when he came here….but none of that has been borne out

Best hands of any TE in the league! Yeah I said it! I thought he was real prick when he was first signed, but it seems he has emotionally matured since his days in Cleveland. I wish he would work more with his teammates in the offseason (namely Freeman) to develop better chemistry. If he could have gotten the same production in the beginning of the year as he did in the last 5-6 games, this team may well have won a couple more games.

That is a fact but in the league of what have u done for me lately Winslow has done nothing but produce for Tampa. So i guess the point im trying to make is why keep referring to the injuries and jus let the guy do what he does. Who cares if he doesnt make all the practices and workouts obviously Raheem doesnt so lets all jus sit back and enjoy the Super Star while he is on the field…. Yeah I said it LOL.

I know it’s a little early, but if Winslow has two more years at his current production…is he the best Bucs TE ever?

Matt- I think its between Kellen and Jimmy Giles! Ken Dilger and Jackie Harris were also great TEs, but had brief careers here.
Kellen has been a real professional here. We heard a lot about him having baggage, but I think that was just the Browns doing damage control.keep that in mind when discussing Tiki Barber. Giants were pissed when he retired. He was their all time leading rusher. Some NFL team’s are childish when players leave on their terms, not the organization’s

Don’t even tempt Murphy’ s Law – If it’s possible for anything to go wrong, it will. Go ahead and get Rob Housler, Fl-Atl, 6-5, 248, 4.46 in the 4th round. Stovall is going to the Chargers, replace him with either Tori Gurley 6-4, 216,4.53 or DeAndre Brown 6-5, 233, 4.59 in the 6th round. By the way, we do not currently have a WR that can run a 4.46 40. It’s not rocket science, get some insurance now!

Winslow is young and he takes good care of his body. He even opts to get preventative surgery on his knee every off season to prevent scar tissue from building up. I’m not worried about him staying healthy. He seems to have it under control.
How many games has he missed in his two years with the Bucs? Oh yeah….zero.

I prefer K2 in the slot where he can maneuver in more open space and not have to worry about his terrible blocking. Id like to see Gilmore get the ball more often. He is wiiide open every time he goes out for a pass.

I agree that another TE will be in Dom’s draft plans this year. The question is when and I’d guess 3’rd or 4’th round.

Think of what Tampa’s record would have been w/o Winslow ? Yes, we all wish he blocked better. But what a receiver, and clutch target for josh freeman!

get Housler and run more 2 TE sets for passing. How crazy it would be if our 2nd TE was our fastest receiver. Imagine all tha mismatches it can create on offense.

@Joe……….I was hoping the bucs drafted a TE last year. Lets just hope they draft one this year.
