Bucs’ Discipline Will Be Tested

February 14th, 2011

Joe’s friend Mike Florio, the creator, curator and lead guru over at ProFootballTalk.com, reminded his readers yesterday that if a lockout hits the NFL on March 4, it will come with a completely cut leash on players.

In short, players will only have be accountable to themselves, the law and the Lord above.

… expiration of the labor deal necessarily will short-circuit the substance-abuse policy, the steroids policy, the personal conduct policy, and any other rules and regulations applicable to player conduct away from the field of play.

It means that drug testing will end and that players who are arrested during the lockout won’t be subject to fines or suspensions.

Joe hopes Jerramy Stevens cell phone doesn’t start heating up in a few weeks.

Lol love how Talib is the picture of this article. Although i think a Tjax pic is more appropriate.

  2. Alex Says:

Aqib t jack mike wiliams all need to go get lit! While they can. They just need to stay in shape abs avoid getting arrested. This is there free card. So thy don’t f**k up during the season. As long as they stay in shape watch some film study and don’t come back to training camp Hungover I’m fine with whatever they
Choose to do. As long as it is nothing past marijuana.

  3. KD Says:

Not that big of a deal, the players who want to do it will find a way getting around drug testing, like they have been for years. Which is completely fine with me, as long as you don’t get caught.

  4. OB Says:

I guess you and the other reporters will be able to get the real stories on what they feel, see, and believe on the entire NFL including refs, oweners, etc without any retrobution possible. Get ready to give us the real story.

    Cab drivers beware

  6. The White Tiger Says:

So the only thing standing between the players and drunken, drug induced, rain-making debauchery & augmenting their DNA to increase strength (muscle structure & buck teeth) and physical endurance (by injecting massive doses of rEpo & race horse DNA) in order increase weight training while also partying for 2 weeks straight – without sleep OR stopping the “rain”….

…are the RULES of the NFL collective bargaining agreement?

How stupid am I?! I do it to keep a happy marriage, provide for my family, and keep my job…MAN…you guys should have told me this BEFORE!

Imbeciles – do you have to print everything the union supporting sports writers comment on, or do you ever stop to consider how intelligent people may read this stuff?

  7. Theodore Says:

Oh. My. God. Buc players will be out in public without a Collective Bargaining Agreement in place. Football players roaming the free world without the faith and morality the CBA provides! Oh the humanity!

  8. The White House Says:

Love it Theodore – someone else sees the inane union propaganda for what it is!

Who knew – we can do away with religion, philosophy, codes-pf-ethics, we just need to apply the restrictions of the NFL CBA – and it will save us ALL!

If the players can’t stay sober, drug-free, and intend to jeapordize their health by injecting animal hormones, snorting coke, while throwing cash in the air at strip joints – they deserve to win a couple of Darwin Awards.

    Self-elimination thins the herds.

  9. eric Says:

They don’t even bother banning weed in the NBA.

Probably figured they couldn’t get a pick up game going if they did.

  10. MichiganBucsFan Says:

    @eric

    lol

  11. SkookumSmitty Says:

Eric: You have given me an idea…Perhaps some weed would make the NBA watchable?

  12. Guest#27 Says:

Cool, these guys can have a field day. Thanks for the info Joe!!!

    Blounts for all!!!

    They deserve it!

  13. eric Says:

Joe if they strike get a flag football league going.

I can throw a five yard out with deadly accuracy.

  14. Thomas 2.2 Says:

Consider this: If the CBA expires on March 4th the drug testing policy will be rendered ineffective – just think how much weed that THC Jax will smoke in response. I don’t think that Jerramy Stevens would have enough weed to quench his appetite for the Chronic.

I actually think that the bucs should negotiate in the CBA a repeal of the drug testing policy b/c it is clearly way too unfair to THC Jax. He cannot operate under any drug testing policy that requires him to abstain.

    Joe here,

Accidently deleted some comments today. Sorry to all.

  16. Oahubuc Says:

    Nice picture choice (CRINGE).

  17. Guest#27 Says:

Eric, a 5 yard out is really a 30 yard pass in the NFL. The field is 50 yds wide.

So you better be able to hum a 30 yard pass on a line instead of it going for a pick 6.

  18. thomas 2.2 Says:

A 5 yard out is not a thirty yard pass if the receiver running the out is not split wide, or if the wr is split but the qb is throwing from the near hash. Tight ends run outs from their normal position and the pass may not exceed 15 yards – Eric can handle that.

Also, technically the width of the nfl field is 53.3 yards or 160 feet.

Not to be a hypertechnical d-bag or anything…

  19. eric Says:

I am planning on pitching it out to joe anyhow.

Games may not be too fancy, remember as a kid making all kinds of stuff the endzone line?

    Tree, bush, rock

Ok, the tree is one endzone, and the rock is the other, lets play!

    Those were the days.

Man it’s a good day when you get great laughs from unexpected sources! Great post by all on this one!
