Columnist Takes Heat For Omitting Freeman

Joe thinks it’s pretty cool that a bunch of football nuts on the Internet convinced a major columnist he was an “idiot”about Josh Freeman last week.
The magic of Twitter somewhat humbled Dallas Morning News columnist Tim Cowlishaw after he apparently didn’t give the proper love to Freeman — in Twitter messages. (For those who don’t use Twitter, well, you can at least follow Joe. It’s free.)
Joe can’t imagine Bucs fans follow Cowlishaw on Twitter, so perhaps the Freeman love train really has spread across the nation, or at least to Texas.
Cowlishaw penned a column today ranking his top-10 quarterbacks who could win you a Super Bowl in the next five seasons and a playoff game in the next two seasons, a ranking strictly based on the talent of the QB. He’s got Freeman 10th, after explaining that he originally didn’t have No. 5 on his list.
I threw this idea out on twitter last week (in a much condensed form, obviously). I have revised my list due to the “must win in 2 years” rule and because of the number of people that politiely informed me I was an idiot for not having Tampa Bay’s Josh Freeman on my list.
I think they might be correct. On both counts.
That said, Joe hates all these stupid lists. But Joe would have placed Freeman higher than 10th, primarily because he just turned 23 and his skill set and intangibles should improve faster than the veterans ahead of him.

No doubt he should be higher than 10th. I do, however, understand that most of the country simply hasn’t seen Freeman play. No prime time games, very little national exposure, and very little hype don’t add up for him being a household name (yet). Most of my friends that are big NFL fans still have never seen him play, and they are shocked when I point out his 25-6 TD to INT ratio. All that being said, I’m much more interested in him actually getting a playoff win versus what Cowlishaw thinks of him.

gota love josh he is what the vikings thought they had in daunte culpeper i think i spelled that wrong but you know what i mean, he is much better than a ten however i love an under dog he shoulda been in the probowl.didnt that same writer put romo and the boys in the super bowl this year mmmmmm..

Josh should definitely be higher than ten. But who really cares about Collin Cowherd anyways? He’s really not worth anybody’s time.

I find it interesting that Josh can be third, which is wrong, in the NFC QB pro bowl standings and not in a top 10 QB list. I wonder what is going to happen when the rest of the planet sees this team next year and wonders what hit their team.

Wow what a bold statement Cowlishaw made. He picked 10 QBs that could possibly win a playoff game in the next 2 years. A championship in 5? I could close my eyes and throw darts at random team names and be right. If he wants some credibility, grow a pair and make specific predictions, like who is going to pay attention to the crap he says.

If having a good QB was all that you needed to win…unfortunately you need something else….A DEFENSE THAT CAN STOP THE RUN!!!!
Until the Bucs’ DEFENSE steps up Josh can do all he wants but….
