No Postseason Killed Raheem Morris’ Chances

Joe has gone on record for weeks, no, months, that Raheem Morris should be the NFL coach of the year.
Other astute NFL minds have joined Joe such as Adam Schein of Sirius NFL Radio and Michael Irvin of NFL Network.
Sadly, not all agree with Joe. Veteran NFL reporter eye-RAH Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune believes the Bucs missing out on the postseason will do in Raheem’s chances at the award, so Kaufman Twittered on the TBO Bucs Twitter feed.
Terrific job turned in by Raheem Morris this season, but he’s not going to win Coach of the Year honors. Not making the playoffs hurt.
Joe can understand this. It’s sort of like people watching only SEC football and dismissing any team as remotely good because said team may play on the left coast.
At risk of turning into Raheem’s public relations assistant, no coach did more with less than Raheem. He increased his win total by seven games — seven! — from the previous season largely with castoffs and rookies.
No team started as many rookies and won 10 games than the Bucs this season since the AFL-NFL merger 40 years ago. That’s four decades folks.
The man others are jocking for coach of the year, Bill Belicheat, is an unethical scoundrel who just so happens to have one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history playing in a milquetoast division.
Prior to the season if someone would suggest Belicheat would win 14 games, the response would have been little more than a shrug of the shoulders.
If, prior to the season, someone suggested Raheem would win 10 games, Joe would have had the man either drug tested or committed.
Now who exactly did the better job? Please, this is a no-brainer.

Ira sucks……. I think COTY should come down to 3 candidates: Haley from KC, Spags from STL, and Morris with TB…….. Those three guys brought teams that were definitely not good last year to very good in a years time…. GO BUCS

The Bucs have had the easiest schedule on record for the team I would like to bet.
Great year for Raheem though, despite the easy schedule.

Actually, if IRA’s past history of picks proves true, Morris will indeed win COY. Whatever Ira prognosticates, lay your money the other way and you will profit. I noticed he was 1-3 in his picks last weekend. I realized he’s been around a while and gets to vote for the HOF (I guess just cause he’s old), but this guy’s credibility is about on par with Pat Yasinskas.

The Bucs had the 18th toughest schedule based on opponents records for the 2010 season.
Pittsburg, Atlanta, Seattle and Chicago, all playoff teams, had weaker strength of shcedule.

We actually had almost a harder schedule then half of the NFC playoff teams.

Buc You the Browns beat the Saints and the Patriots, the Cardinals beat the Saints, the Bucs had a higher strength of schedule than the Giants so you still have to beat the teams on your schedule which disproves your ridiculous statement…. After saying all that I know your a pathetic internet troll looking for replies but I am tired of seeing people say the Bucs had the easiest schedule… GO BUCS and I hope Coach morris wins COTY

That does not matter. The Saints and Falcons played the same teams.
It still does not take away from the fact that the youngest team won 10 games. They were the only team in history to start 10 rookies and have a winning record. The only team to have the leading roojie rusher and WR. The list goes on. What he did with them, along with losing 8 starters to IR, is incredible. No one thought they could go 10-6 and now that they did some want to diminish the accomplishment by pointing to opponents.
Hey, the NYG’s opponents had a worse winning %. the NJYs have 1, maybe 2 wins against teams with winning records. It does not matter, you play the schedule given and they are all NFL teams.
I do think Raheem should get coach of the year, but also believe he will not because they aren’t in the playoffs. I think Lovie Smith might get it or Smith from ATL.

How do we get Ira replaced as the Bucs representative? This guy should making arguments for the Bucs not against. Can anyone say that if Raheem wins COT that they would be shocked. 100% no. To think we have to depend on this idiot in presenting our players for making the HOF. If the Bucs organization have any say so they need to find a way to replace Ira. We don’t need him cause he obviously doesn’t support his home team.
All users need to read Buc you’s comments turn and chuckle and think what an idiot he continues to be and just ignore him. We can only hope if no one responds to him he will run out of gas and just Peter out!!

I honestly believe Raheem doesn’t really care about this stupid award, although it would be great to see him win it. He is most definitely MY Coach of the Year and many other die hard Buc Fans. That’s what really matters and Raheem likely is keeping his eye on the big prize, the Lombardi Trophy. That’s the one that matters, the one everybody covets, the one that gets you the big payday.

Dungy won the award in 1997 because he got to the playoffs, and WON a playoff game.
If that is the bar that is set…..Raheem did not match that.

Two interesting things to note:
– Has anyone doubted the legitimacy of the Giants’ 10-6 record? They played a somewhat weaker schedule than the Bucs.
– The Chiefs’ strength of schedule is the only real outlier on the bottom half of the list. Their schedule was WEEEAAAAK.

Actually Brad, eye-RAH! should be speaking from his heart. A reporter’s job is not to be a public relations arm or a marketing agent for a team. If that’s what eye-RAH! believes, Joe’s OK with it. Doesn’t mean Joe agrees with eye-RAH!
Joe would rather have eye-RAH! be honest and that way Joe knows he’s not a shill and won’t always make excuses for the team he covers unlike some reporters in this area like Mark Topkin.

Thanks for response Joe: I agree that if he really in his heart doesn’t believe Raheem shouldn’t win it then he shouldn’t support it. I don’t agree with it either and would like to hear how he decided on the other coaches. It would also be interesting to see how the reporters in the cities of the other candidates for coy support their local coach. Have any of these reporters that write in the cities of the other candidates picked Raheem for their COY?

Ira’s job is to report the facts in a non biased way and let the public make their own conclusions.
Instead Ira and all of the other area reporters seem to go out of their way to be negative regarding the Bucs.
Like I’ve said before he has is no more qualified to give his opinion than anyone of Joe’s readers are. In todays instant news age anyone with a computer and a radio is just informed as any of the bozos.
