Good Chance Mike Williams Case Dropped

January 13th, 2011

Late in the season, Bucs wide receiver Mike Williams was popped for speeding, though it smelled more like DWB, and the cop in question, trying to keep America safe from enemies both foreign and domestic, decided to force a DUI upon Williams, though Williams blood alcohol level was within the legal limit.

Williams, disgusted with what was happening, decided to take a urine test to prove his innocence.

Good guy Stephen Holder of the St. Petersburg Times writes about where that case currently stands.

The results of a urine test administered after his arrest are still pending. That test would determine his alcohol level and any other potential illegal substances that could impair a driver. If the test comes back clean, as Williams has vowed it will, there’s a very good possibility the case will be either dismissed or the charge will be dropped. But the timeline remains unclear because such tests can take roughly four months to process for minor charges such as DUIs (cases involving serious offenses like rape and murder get priority).

But the bottom line here is this: If everything is as it appears — Williams took an independent urine test after his arrest and the team said no illegal substances were found — there’s a good chance Williams will walk away from this unscathed and vindicated.

Here’s the only tricky part: While Williams and the Bucs claim his follow up whiz quiz was clean, the results are not public record. Williams’ urine test with the cops is very much public record and will show so much as if Williams had to take an aspirin that evening.

The thing about this whole case is how some Bucs haters tried to somehow lump Williams in with a known scumbag and threat to public society Jerramy Stevens, who had a rap sheet longer than Joe’s arm and who was popped for (allegedly) attempting to sell pot mere hours before kickoff of the Bucs game with the Rams.

How and why a deranged mind would try to connect Stevens and Williams and then make the hysterical leap that somehow Raheem Morris’ team was running amok and he had no control of the team was simply outrageous to Joe and without question wholly unfair not only to Williams, but to Morris and the entire Bucs organization.

To this day Joe wants to strangle people who suggest such nonsense.

Oh, and Williams, along with fellow rookie LeGarrette Blount, were named to the Sporting News all-rookie NFL team yesterday.

Ran out of things to write about huh?

  2. feel Says:

I can’t believe there is just a “good chance” the case is dropped. It should have been a sure thing that it got dropped the moment he was released. The guy didn’t do ANYTHING wrong.

  3. Buc You Says:

Mike Williams is first to offender, although I work with scores of people who have never been arrested, so go figure, NFL players get 1 free get out of jail card.

But if you are gonna call J Stevens a DB, then you HAVE to put Aquib Talib in that category, the moron punched a cabie in the back of the head.
And TJax is a DB for his multiple drug failures.

So yeah, I agree MWill is not, but Talib and TJax definitely are dirt bags like J Stevens.

  4. MOBucs Says:

This whole incident stunk to high heaven from the onset. If he’s clean, Williams should not be punished!

  5. Joe Says:

    Buc You:

    Yes and no.

Click on the link Joe had of Stevens’ transgressions. Not condoning anything Aqib Talib and Tanard Jackson did but their misdeeds aren’t on the same level.

  6. Gary Says:

F-U Buc You! You were one of the pieces of garbage making that exact link to rest of the incidents. We haven’t forgotten your comments about it being a “zoo” over at one buc – rec center, as you called it.

Where was your outrage then Joe?

  7. gotbbucs Says:

i would probably categorize talib and jackson as dirt head kids and stevens as a scumbag. as for williams, i would just say he was in the wrong place at the wrong time who from all appearances was falsely accused.

  8. Joe Says:

    Gary:

Joe stated back when the incident happened it was unfair to Williams and Joe has since on multiple occasions as a guest on the “Ron and Ian Show” on WDAE-AM 620 spoke about this issue.

  9. Buc You Says:

[Deleted for posting inaccurate, false accusations against an innocent man.]

If you don’t think Talib and TJax aren’t idiot dirtbags who put themselves ahead of the team, then you are purposely not paying attention.

And yes, I stand behind my past comments about Raheem running One Buc Rec Center over there. Maybe THAT is one of the reasons why Rich Bissacia left and purposely gave credit to Gruden but not Raheem? Hmmmm

how can you consider tjax a dirthead when all he does is smoke a little weed. I used to smoke evryday yet I’ve done pretty well so far. Tjax has no crimina record either. He just needs to chill with the bud during the season

  11. Joe Says:

    Buc You:

Williams blood alcohol content was documented by authorities to be within the legal limit. Repeat: Was within the legal limit.

If you are going to convict someone of a crime, you better have hard evidence.

  12. Joe Says:

how can you consider tjax a dirthead when all he does is smoke a little weed.

Busted three times. That’s just what is known.

  13. HIRE GREG OLSON! Says:

    Joe,

Come on, NO ONE SELLS WEED on the street. I understand Stevens’ “attempt to distribute charge”, but we all know he wasn’t running a corner the day before a game.

  14. Buc You Says:

I said driving drunk when I should have said driving after having drinks.

But if you are an NFL athlete and your actions are under a microscope by the media and fans then making the decision to drive after having a few drinks wasn’t wise on his part. I just hope he learned from that, but I am skeptical about Raheem the player coach coming down on this risk taking. Maybe Raheem blamed the POlice just like he allowed Talib to blame the refs after the Ravens game.

  15. BigMacAttack Says:

Maybe Buc You(Beavis) and Thomas(Butthead) can hold hands while they walk across the water and preach to all of the Bay Area what a terrible person Coach Morris is. I think it is a far worse crime for Buc You to drive around with his head up his @$$ than for Mike Williams to drive around after dark after having maybe one beer. It is a good thing Buc You & Thomas weren’t the arresting officers. They likely would have tased Mike repeatedly for not saying Raheem is a terrible coach. Buc You(Radio Mushmouth), you are one miserable piece of human existence. Isn’t it time to move out of your parent’s house and get off unemployment?

  16. SamsonSneed Says:

Dirthead? What the hell is a dirthead?

  17. Joe Says:

    HIRE GREG OLSON!:

Joe will quote the late, great Chris Thomas.

“I don’t know that to be the truth.”

  18. Teddy Says:

Love the DWB reference Joe. It’s unfortunate that this type of racial profiling exists, which just gives all the more credence to the concept that high-profile athletes need to go above and beyond the amount of discretion each of us that aren’t in the public eye would have to exhibit.

  19. No koolaid Says:

You can be prosecuted for a DUI even if you were under the limit. It’s rare but they only have to prove that you were impared. Also, just because you pass a breathalyzer doesnt mean there wasn’t something else in your system. I personally believe Williams is innocent in this case but I also believe that assuming the cop is some racist is very irresponsible and also hypocritical when you bring up ‘DWB’

  20. NAVYBUCFAN Says:

Tampa PD is seriously trying to gather some money. Target the BUCS and Ray’s, and hopefully they will be driving the new Camaro PD cars next year.

  21. gotbbucs Says:

samson, how bout bonehead, do you understand what that means? oh, and congrats to the guy who used to smoke up every day. the difference is you were probably not getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to keep your piss clean.

  22. Kevin Says:

Discussing this before the results come back is futile. Its like discussing what happens if the sun burns out.

  23. Oahubuc Says:

Driving While Black takes time to challenge.

  24. oar Says:

    Kevin,
“Its like discussing what happens if the sun burns out..”
Well, it would definitely be dark and cold!
And, we would all be Driving While Black!

  25. McBuc Says:

OAR…You made me smile once again. Keep them coming.

  26. BuccoBill Says:

I think the cop was a Steelers fan.
