Dominik Wants To See More Of Top-3 Picks

Entering the 2010 season, it was pretty well understood that the Bucs were counting on huge contributions from four of their top five draft picks, Gerald McCoy, Brian Price, Arrelious Benn and Mike Williams.
Sure, they got good looks at Benn, McCoy and Williams, but what would McCoy have delivered down the stretch? His season was cut off early in Game 13 against Washington. Would Benn have shown up big throughout the Seahawks game and against New Orleans?
Of course, Price was hurt since training camp and barely got through half a season.
Mark Dominik was asked to identify negatives from the season during an interview on The Fabulous Sports Babe Show on 1040AM last week.
Dominik was quick to reply,”our first round pick and our second round picks didn’t play as much as we wanted them to.” He also went to lament Aqib Talib’s “lost season” that he thought would have put Talib in the Pro Bowl.
Joe can only imagine the level of competition along the defensive line entering training camp next season.
Obviously, young Al Woods and Frank Okam believe they belong on the field based on their performances late in the season, and Price, McCoy and Roy Miller are coming back. Plus Kyle Moore returning, who the Bucs liked to rush inside on third down, but Joe hopes that ugly experiment is done.
Along with the upgrades coming at defensive end, Dominik will have rough decisions on the D-line if everyone is healthy.

GMC, Price, Miller Starters
Okam, Woods as Backup rotational … 5 DTs is not unheard of on the 53

One decision that shouldn’t be tough is admitting the mistake of drafting Kyle “no-sack” Moore and cutting bait next year.

I’ll be pissed if they keep wasting time with Kyle Moore. He sucks! In fact, all our current defensive ends suck! We need to completely clean house at this position. Maybe keep Stylez as a backup and have that experience and veteran presence around but that’s about it.

I think they are set at DT. Just need a little seasoning. Not sure what they have in Brian Price, but he was the rookie, after Mike Williams, making the most noise in the offseason and at training camp.
Look for them to double up on DE draft picks in the first 3 rounds just like they did last year at DT. It is the biggest weakness on the team, might as well flood it with new talent like they did last year. Great strategy, especially since last year was considered a great DT draft and this year is considered a great DE draft.

Please let Styles White and his veteran presence walk .. Im sure his complaining about Training Camp will really help all the young Bucs .. Maybe just maybe his penchant for sucking in practice has to do with his average of 4.5 Sacks per season ..
Tim Crowder is the Bucs best DE .. He is non stop hustle and tackles
Alex Magee looks like he might be OK too ..
But the Bucs have no pass rushing RE .. LE looks solid to me

jvato, I agree. I couid not figure out why it took them so long to get Croder involved. He is built for this defense, and I think he will really step it up next year with a healthy and seasoned GMC and Price back.
