Surgery Complete For Arrelious Benn

Joe has no concrete medical information on Arrelious Benn’s ACL knee surgery yesterday, but No. 17 has started Tweeting again, so it seems he’s alive and not kicking.
Benn snapped a photo of his repaired left knee and shared it with his Twitter followers today. Not exactly appropriate dinnertime viewing, but Joe brings it to you nonetheless.
Hopefully, Benn will be ready for opening day, but eight months is probably pushing it.

8 Months is plenty of time. Most of the time an ACL is a 6 month recovery. I think Benn will be back and ready by camp

Another reason to keep Caddy, to help Benn rehab the knee. This is an addition to be our 3rd down back who brings experience, stability, pass protection and respect in the locker room. But he can really help Benn out in rehab.

8 months to become physically repaired, 16 months to become mentally repaired
I’m speaking from experience. A torn knee ligament will keep players cautious. Ask Tom Brady when he wasn’t stepping into his throws in the pocket.

Got to agree with Travis on this one. You can be healed enough to play in 6 months, but you won’t be back to full strength for at least a year. There are a few rare exceptions (Wes Welker comes to mind), but more often than not it takes more time. The mental aspect is one of the hardest to deal with. As much as I hate it for the team, it may be a good idea to put him on the PUP list to start the season. The worst thing that can be done is to rush him back and have him re-tear it. I think our other receivers can hold it down for a while until he is fully recovered.

On Rudd. Lets assume he is out of position because of a weak offensive line and suspect RSLB. If that is the case, he probably will not be back. Reason is he is a free agent. Front offices with smarts will understand this and make him a better offer than what the Bucs are willing to pay. Other than that he will be back.

From a guy who has had 4 ACL reconstructions, I feel for you Rejus. But to be honest, with today’s medical technology, combined with the fact that these guys are in top physical shape, an ACL tear isn’t really too big of a deal. Especially for a guy like Benn, who is known to be a gym rat/hard worker.

This is really hysterical. This reminds me of when Monte said he was taking the Tennessee job, to help his spoiled brat bastard son, and callers on 620 were suggesting that Derrick Brooks become D. Coordinator/weakside Linebacker, completely ignorant of the fact that Monte was the highest paid Defensive Coordinator in the LEAGUE. You think the Glazers would pay Monte that much because just anybody could do his job? Especially a player?
You really think that Cadillac Williams is not only going to be resigned to help teach Blount how to pick up the blitz (not Carlos’ point, but has been mentioned in previous posts) but also to rehab Rejus’ knee?
Hell, Caddy’s had two knees blow out on him, maybe he should have performed the surgery, ayy Carlos?

I’m all in favor of resigning Cadillac. I think he is perfect for the role that he has found in the offense. However, I do think we shouldn’t pay too much for the guy, the market on him should be fairly low. He hasn’t broken 1000 yards since his rookie season and has two rebuilt knees.
Plus, he’s a great guy. See, I’m not the a**hole that you thought I was. But, part of being that great guy/good teammate/leader in the locker room is that you sacrifice for the team. ASK SHELTON QUARLES & DERRICK BROOKS. I know, for a fact, that Quarles restructured his contract on multiple occasions and I believe Brooks did as well, but I’m not 100% sure. I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong.

You love splitting hairs. Yes, he said “another”. That doesn’t change the fact that it’s a BULLSH*T reason. There’s no way in hell that Cadillac helps Benn rehab his knee. These guys’ bodies are worth millions of dollars. You don’t think that he’s going to receive top notch medical care and rehab??
You really think that a player is going to help in another player’s rehab? And that’s a reason to re-sign him.

No, I didn’t say that was a reason to re-sign him, that was Carlos. I just pointed out that he mentioned other reasons. You made it sound like that’s the only reason he should be re-signed. I just thought it was funny how, you picked that out of his “reasons”, just to say it is hysterical and call someone stupid? Come on now and you tell me I’m splitting hairs? Please! Wow, you sure can be a prick about going to the home games. Like I said before, I used to have season tickets for many years and went to many games at the ole sombereo. Unfortunately, I lost hours at work, coupled with this sh-tty economy and could not go this year again. Otherwise, you would have seen my as- at your seat for the free beer you offered me! Granted, the year before last I wasn’t sure about the team and Raheem and it made the decision easier. BTW how was that 1 home game win experience that year?

And aren’t you just as guilty of focusing only on one aspect of someone else’s comment? Did you not read the post below where I supported re-signing Caddy?
All I was saying is that if/when the Bucs re-sign Caddy, it’ll be for his performance or lack of performance on the field. All this “He’s the heart of this team”, “He’ll teach Blount how to pick up the blitz” and finally, “He’ll help Benn rehab” is nonsensical woman-speak. Some of the people (not you, Oar) on here act like there’s no running backs coach to teach Blount the blitz-pickup, no trainers to oversee Benn’s knee, nor any other emotional leaders to replace Caddy.
This is a professional NFL franchise, not the Orlando Breakers.

Sorry bout the hair comment, it was supposed to be a light-hearted joke. I assumed, since you told me, “you were the bald one and couldn’t miss you at the stadium”, that you shaved your head that way. Looking at my dad and his family, mine is going to be gone too!
As for the home games, I’m hoping things turn around and I can get to go again. Nothing like being at home football games for sure!
