Sterling Sharpe Says Bucs Are Playoff Bound

Yes, there is an expert that picks the Bucs to not only beat the Saints but get in the playoffs after losses by the Giants and Redskins on Sunday.
As a former dreaded division rival of the Bucs, Joe can’t throw too much love at Sterling Sharpe, who now spends his time spewing analysis on NFL Network. But Sharpe is the mad genius who believes Tampa Bay will be playing playoff football in eight or nine days.
For Joe’s young readers who don’t remember Sharpe, the guy was running a fly route to the Hall of Fame as a wide receiver for the Packers, before a neck injury ended his career in 1994 after only seven seasons.
Not right now, but come kickoff, Joe will have his heart in the moment and believe, as well. Joe would love nothing more than to crack open a stout cold beer about 8 p.m. on Sunday and making plans to watch — or attend — the Bucs’ playoff game.
The perfect storm for Joe would be somehow Chucky’s broadcast crew gets the Bucs playoff game.
Joe would get quite a kick out of hearing Chucky taking credit for grooming Raheem and spouting off about how his allegedly beloved ex-players, “Let me tell you Jaws, scouting this Jeremy Zuttah kid, I knew he was smart enough to learn every position in my playbook.”

I believe the Redskins need to win and the Giants and Packers lose in addition to the Saints. Also I have been watching football for a long, long time. I grew up in Los Angeles and went to every Rams game in the olden days and saw all the QBs of yesterday. I had a paper route and with selling one new customer each week the Rams played, I was taken to the game by the Times-Mirror company. I saw the Feasome Foursome, Waterfield, Garbriel, Starr, Unitas, Graham, Van Broklin, even Jaws play. None of them, repeat none of them could do all the things JF is doing. Plus they had OLs, receivers runners, etc. When the Bucs OL solidifies next year with the fire power they have, the rest of the NFL better hang on to their asses because the public will say “who are these guys?”. The defense will be just as awesome with the reclaimed IRs and the depth is unbelievable. Just think what the coaching over the off season will do for all and the continued bonding of the team. There seems to be no “I am the greatest” egos on the team. Your thoughts Joe?

I was at the Game in the Old Sombrero when Sharpe was injured. He used to kill us.
To be fair everyone used to kill us but he was a great one. If he says we’re going to make it then who am I to doubt him?

Wow and I thought I was an oldtimer? Graham finished playing in 1955 or 56. Starr and Unitas played til the early 70’s, but were at the end of their great careers. Their best years were much earlier. I just can’t understand your use of 3 HOF QBs to compare to JFreeman. They were playing in a different time of NFL football back then too. Don’t get me wrong, I’m impressed with Freeman and his abilities and potential, but let’s give him another year or two to put him in that list.

Fire them Cannons next year. I love the Buccaneers but unless Brees, Colston, Mecham and the rest of the offence decides to take the night off who’s going to cover those guys stop the run and contain reggie bust. I would love to see the Buccaneers get to the big dance but honestly don’t see it happening. All they had to do was beat Detroit and it was a wrap

I don’t think our defense can hang with their offense, but I think our offense can hang with their defense.
Like I said earlier, the Bucs need a shoot out to win. Last game of the season, let it all hang out.

I like our chances to win on Sunday. Our young team is developing before our eyes. We get our running game going and we have a chance to dominate this game. Yeah I said Dominate. NO has not had to play against Blount yet this season. they can be run on we just need to execute… It has been a great season this year and to all those who think we are still not a 9 win team because of what ever, let me be the first to say do not let the door hit you in the a$$ on the way out of it.

Rusty, Imagine next year when Blount has OTAs and training camp under his belt. He will have the passing aspect down as far as routes and blitz pick ups (another reason to keep Caddy around is to help teach this). Whoever is going to be fullback has to get the routes down too. Short passes to reliable catching fullbacks keep the chains moving.

The ONLY way the Bucs win against the Saints is:
1. Win the turnover battle
2. Control the clock with a grinding ground game

The Saints are good enough to overcome a few mistakes as they proved on Monday night.
The Bucs on the other hand need to play mistake free football if they have any chance of winning this game. No stupid holding or false starts penalties and no turnovers.

Playoffs or no playoffs, this is the most excited I have been for a game since 2002, more excited than our 2 trips to the playoffs since vs NY/Washington. I bet they come out really fired up to end the season strong, and Raheem will have these guys going. Saints offense is going to be tough to slowdown, you never know maybe they start pulling guys in 2nd half. Making the playoffs would be amazing, but this has been a great season regardless, and i hope they leave it all out there Sunday. We’ll be there soon enough.

I am as big a Raheem fan as anyone but you have to some credit where due. Raheem did grow up as a coach underneath Jon Gruden and I guarantee the man had some influence on him. And Gruden should also be given credit for having a decent eye for offensive linemen. Zuttah was an excellent draft choice and Gruden couldn’t have anticipated what would happen to Sears. If Sears had not had his issues he was on his way to being one of the best guards in the league. So I am not sure why the sarcasm as if Gruden would not have the right to take some credit for both Raheem and Zuttah.

This team sends me to the oxygen tank every week I can’t breathe and I start getting severe chest pains from the anxiety watcing these games. You can’t compare last years win to this years game against the Saints no Talib don’t have the same help at safety to many injuries throughout the defense. Teen wolf never lived up to his double digit sack prediction. unless he gets 4.5 sacks he won’t make ten. This guy needs to show and prove or hit the bricks because he’s not a closer coffee is for closers put that coffee down oops wrong movie.

Gtrlvr has a great point, and I have heard Raheem mention Coach Gruden before. I would bet that Morris gives a lot of credit to Gruden and Kiffin.

Gruden is gone and he’s not comming back they took his keys and changed the locks on the doors. The ship is sailing in a different direction one where you take a rookie quaterback, two rookie wideouts, and another rookie running back who leaps over runs through and around defenders like wrecking ball. This is a team building for the long run not to win a playoff game or two. They are not in the business of gathering together a bunch of over the hill players. You want Gruden you don’t get Freeman or Benn or Williams or Blount or Mccoy. How would it look to have some over the hill Q.B. tossing interceptions. Gruden is not into patience and progressive teaching
