Defense Let Bucs Down At Worst Time
December 19th, 2010The Bucs needed one stop. One!
There were 92 seconds left in the game. A playoff berth hung in the balance.
The Bucs defense, once so vaunted it forced third world countries to the negotiation table, suddenly turned meek at the most inopportune time.
The rebuilding since 1957 Detroit Lions, led by grizzled signal-caller, the immortal Drew Stanton, marched downfield for a field goal to send the game into overtime.
Joe’s so ill he can’t drink a beer, instead having a bottle of Mylanta at his side this very moment.
The freaking rebuilding since 1957 Detroit Lions, bearing a 26-game road losing streak, up and rose and punched the Bucs in the mouth and stole their playoff money.
Joe cannot and will not use excuses of injuries. Like other teams don’t have injuries this time of the year?
The Bucs needed one stop to stay in contention for the playoffs against the putrid rebuilding since 1957 Detroit Lions. At home.
Simply put, the Bucs don’t belong in the playoffs.

Unfortunately, I agree 100%.
December 19th, 2010 at 6:31 pm
Agree so did the lb s I know raheem loves them but they are at best average
December 19th, 2010 at 6:33 pm
Joe, they havent made big stops on defense all year. So this really shouldnt suprise any of us. This is the reason why going into todays game we were 8-0 vs sub .500 teams and 0-5 vs above .500 teams. makes sense doesnt it??????? So you are right, we deserve to be left out of playoffs as sickening it is for me to even type that last statement.
December 19th, 2010 at 6:36 pm
Yep, this team is too damaged to be in the playoffs. It was a heck of a run, but youth and injuries finally caught up to them. They’re not mathematically out, but it’s highly unlikely at this point.
Now, who honestly thought we’d make the playoffs before the season started????
They got a whole lot closer than most gave them credit for. They’ll continue to play hard to finish the season, but it’s time to get guys healthy and regroup for next year. It’s been a fun year of watching football again. Thank You Tampa Bay Buccaneers!
December 19th, 2010 at 6:37 pm
if people asks me, the OLine its all about work, so i would let they the chance to be better, BUT, Dis other story, guys like ruud and black has been non existing, hayes made one great after screw us in 3 before, and without an above average DE defense is the lame for us, we need to pick up 2 DEs and 2 LBs
December 19th, 2010 at 6:43 pm
We have a long way to go. Today was a wake up call. We overachieved this year. Realistically, we need 2 more good drafts and then we will come on strong. There are too many holes right now.
I hope we are aggressive in FA this year and bring in atleast 1 proven star. I don’t care what position: OL, S, LB, DE take your pick. Its stupid to think we will hit every one of our draft picks to fill these holes.
December 19th, 2010 at 6:43 pm
Aldo-
between the draft and FREE AGENCY 2 defensive ends and 2 linebackers is doable. Will the Glazers open up the purse strings? Because it can’t all be acquired through the draft.
December 19th, 2010 at 6:45 pm
BTW, I have no doubt that we would have won the game if Blount got the ball in the end. We knew Caddy would collide into the line of scrimmage and go down. Blount would not have fumbled there.
Our horrible run blocking shows when some other than Blount is in the game. He makes his own holes because there are none.
Get Blount and Huggy ready to be the 1-2 punch next year. Cut all the deadweight Dom!
December 19th, 2010 at 6:54 pm
This loss is directly on the shoulders of the DEFENSE.
defense? What Defense?
PATHETIC…..
December 19th, 2010 at 7:08 pm
As Rah says it isn’t how you start but how you finish.
Whoops.
December 19th, 2010 at 7:11 pm
@ Eric,
Yeah, so. What is your point? Sounds like you are gloating. We are not finishing strong, and we are not going to make the playoffs. Do you think Raheem is happy? You think he wanted to finish like this? What do you REALLY want to happen now? Do you want to fire him right now? I don’t see your point.
December 19th, 2010 at 7:16 pm
Eric doesn’t have a point Hawaiian. We all know what Buc You, Thomas the zero, and Eric the disappearing man’s motivations are at this point. Lets just say that there will be great joy at their klan rally tonight.
December 19th, 2010 at 7:19 pm
Eric,
Find your balls and stop hiding behind your claims you want this team to succeed. We can read through the lines, the words you use, how you use them, and the timing of both show you are happy right now.
Atleast be man enough to come out and say it.
December 19th, 2010 at 7:20 pm
Well last year they finsished strong, and folks looked at that for success, even though they sucked during the first half.
Wouldn’t the reverse hold true?
In any event, playoffs on the line, the lowly Lions come to town on a 26 game road losing streak, with a slew of injuries themselves. Horrific loss.
They are who I thought they are.
December 19th, 2010 at 7:30 pm
@Eric,
Again, what do you want? Raheem fired? Or even better, a medal for being the di&^ of the year? Or being the worst “fan” I have ever seen. To come here and gloat that you think you are right is truly a low class, sickening thing to do. I will never understand people like you, but I’m embarrassed that we “cheer” for the same team.
December 19th, 2010 at 7:38 pm
Eric,
What do you think your picks for coaches would have done this year? Gruden would have lowered production for this offense and the D would have still been horrible.
Cowher might have made the D a little better but, big if. But changing schemes might have made them alot worse too.
So tell us, who or what could have been done to make “our” team better?
December 19th, 2010 at 7:45 pm
What are you guys so mad at me for?
I am not the one who blew the season by losing to Detroit, who was riding a 26 game losing streak on the road and was down to a third string rookie QB, and backups all over their roster.
That distinction belongs to Raheem Morris and the Bucs. I had nuttin to do with it.
December 19th, 2010 at 7:45 pm
Eric,
The way you deflect with humor, sarcasm, and hatred when people call your fanhood into question is the worst indictment of your character. How can someone that truly cheers for a team take that with a smile?
If you laugh and cry with the ups and downs this team went through, there is no way you make cute remarks with the things people have said. You must be laughing with the downs and crying with the ups… thats the only thing that makes sense.
December 19th, 2010 at 7:47 pm
Gary,
He wanted anybody but Morris. He wanted Brandon Marshall. He also expects a bunch of rookies and second year guys to play like 7 year veterans.
December 19th, 2010 at 7:48 pm
“I am not the one who blew the season by losing to Detroit, who was riding a 26 game losing streak on the road and was down to a third string rookie QB, and backups all over their roster.”
No, but you are the one who is enjoying it.
December 19th, 2010 at 7:51 pm
Guys, please don’t ask that moron to actually put thought into a post. I don’t think I can handle reading anything more than a one or two line post from somebody who obviously doesn’t know sh!t about football or this team.
December 19th, 2010 at 8:07 pm
Eric, like Buc You and Thomas IS a Buccaneers fan. However these guys will continue to root against the Bucs as long as Raheem Morris or anyone else of his skin complection coaches the team. Its that simple. The reason why none one of you can fathom a rational reason why these idiots gloat when the Bucs lose is because they have no rational reason. Just their irrational hate. I wasn’t sure this was the case but Buc You proved it the other day when he forgot to filter himself and let his racism fly openly. Eric and Thomas just arent quite as stupid as Buc You to show their true colors like that. Congrats Eric, you have the distinction of being not quite as stupid as Buc You. You should be proud.
December 19th, 2010 at 8:18 pm
@gitarlvr
Whatever man, you have exposed yourself as a total fool with your “Klan rally” race baiting garbage.
A coach loses a game to the lions with the playoffs on the line and criticism is suddenly racist?
Anyhow, I am here to talk football, not race, so go debate that point with someone on your own level, like a 3rd grader.
December 19th, 2010 at 9:18 pm
I don’t know about not finishing the year strong….they could still win their last two games and finish 10 and 6…that would be finishing strong in ny opinion..the season isn’t over yet. And Eric you have been completely wrong about this team and Rah from the beginning and at every turn..thats why you never show when they win and pop up when they lose just to try to make your views credible. The problem is they have been much better than you or anyone else thought…even with all of the injuries.
Anyway who cares what the small group of people like Eric think..I think this team has a great future with Raheem….
